Dimples are small folds or indentations on the cheeks. Dimples occur due to a small abnormality in the cheek muscles that causes the skin of the cheek to be pulled when moved, causing a hollow. The uniqueness of this face is usually genetic or hereditary. However, if a person is not born with dimples, he can make them himself using simple techniques (makeup) or even drastic techniques (surgery). See step 1 below to get your own dimples.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Facial Exercises to Create Dimples
Step 1. Pinch your lips then suck your cheeks in
To start working your cheek muscles, make a facial expression like you're eating lime or something very sour. Pucker your lips or make a pouting expression and suck your cheeks in. Don't press your teeth together, because you won't be able to suck on your cheeks, otherwise you'll have to close your lips.
- Notes: This method is a traditional method. In other words, this method is not proven by scientific facts, but only untested facts. Therefore, this way success is not guaranteed.
- Your cheeks should curve inward, with the deepest part of the curve between your upper and lower teeth, almost to the part between your front and back mouth.
- Try eating and drinking something sour if you find it difficult to imagine the suggested facial expression. It is your natural reaction to the taste of acid that is encouraged in this exercise.
Step 2. Press and hold the curve of the cheek
Determine the area of the cheek where the deepest curve is. Grasp the part gently with your index finger. Hold that part with your index finger and start moving your mouth.
You can also hold this section with your thumb or the back of a pencil if you find it difficult
Step 3. Smile and slide your finger if necessary
Gradually make a grinning expression and don't move your finger from its position. Open your mouth wide when you smile because natural dimples will appear when you smile widely. Your finger should be near the smiley edge of your lips, where the dimple will appear.
- Look at your appearance in the mirror. If your fingertip is in the wrong place, then slide your finger to the preset position.
- Gently press the area of the dimple you want with your fingertips or with the back of a pencil. If a dimple is formed, immediately remove your finger. Take a picture if you want. Remember that the dimples will disappear once you rest your mouth.
Step 4. Continue pressing for 30 minutes or more
To train your cheeks to form dimples longer, you should press the curves gently for at least 30 minutes.
- The longer you press the “dimple”, the longer the curve will last.
- In ancient times, there were certain machines or tools that could be used to make dimples by pressing the point of the dimple continuously. This tool is not scientifically proven, but some people claim to have used it. The practice of making dimples is designed based on how the tool works.
Step 5. Repeat daily
Do this facial exercise to form dimples for 30 minutes every day for several weeks. After a month and you still haven't got dimples, then let's just say you're out of luck. Because this method is the most not supported by scientific facts and only believed by word of mouth, you have to accept the fact that this method doesn't work for you.
Method 2 of 3: Make Dimples With Makeup
Step 1. Smile big
Look in the mirror and give a big, natural smile. Decide where you are going to make the dimple.
- When you smile, create natural creases outside your mouth area. Your “dimples” will form outside these creases, starting at the top of your upper lip point area.
- Put on a big smile, but as natural as possible. Real dimples show when you smile widely, so you'll know where you're going to create artificial dimples when you smile widely. Do not be shy!
- Notes: this method is very appropriate to make artificial dimples. However, these dimples can look unnatural if you wear them in public.
Step 2. Put a mark over the dimple you just made
Dimples are usually shaped like a short line or slightly crescent. Using an eyebrow pencil, make a small dot over the area where you want to line the dimple.
Use dark brown because this color can blend with skin tone more naturally. Do not use black or other colored eyebrow pencils
Step 3. Make a small crescent-shaped mark on your cheek
Once you've marked the top of the dimple, soften your cheek. Draw a small curved line starting from the point you made earlier. Use the same eyebrow pencil you used to make the dots.
The length of the line must not exceed 2.5 cm below the point. The line should be slightly curved, straighter than the curve of the fingernail
Step 4. Blend and redraw the lines if necessary
Now, the dimples are drawn and it's time to adjust your makeup so you get a smooth and natural finish. Use your fingers or a makeup brush to blend the lines into your skin, brushing the lines up and down instead of right and left.
With just one stroke, this process may not produce the desired result immediately, you will have to redraw the lines and blend them several times
Step 5. Smile to check the result
Check whether the two dimples you made are the same? Too dark? Less dark? Do your dimples look unnatural under certain light conditions? If your makeup doesn't look good, don't be afraid to wash it off and repeat the process again.
Method 3 of 3: Make Dimples with Piercings
Step 1. Go to a professional piercing
Like piercing in other parts of the body, piercing on the cheek has a risk of infection if hygiene is not maintained. Don't pierce your own cheeks at home. Only use the services of a professional piercer who is well known by many people, namely a piercer who is trained and has adequate tools to minimize the risk of infection or other side effects.
- Most professional piercers will not want to pierce a client under the age of 18, even if their parents have given them permission. The age limit for people who can get pierced varies, depending on the laws that apply in your location.
- Notes: Many professional piercers do not recommend cheek piercing for all ages. Unlike ear and nose piercings, which only penetrate skin and cartilage, cheek piercings penetrate muscles. Therefore, cheek piercing can pose a greater risk of causing nerve damage.
Step 2. Clean the entire area to be pierced
If you've found a professional piercer you're familiar with, he or she will carefully clean your cheeks before getting them pierced. The outer skin of the cheek should be cleaned with antibacterial soap, sterile alcohol wipes, or other sterile method to kill harmful germs that can cause infection in the piercing.
The piercer will also tell you to rinse your mouth with an anti-bacterial mouthwash to minimize the risk of bacteria in your mouth that can cause infection
Step 3. Make sure that the tool used is really clean
Professional piercers will use a gunshot piercer with disposable needles, sterilized needles, or disposable needles only (without a gun). The needle used to pierce your cheek must be completely sterile. never ever want to be pierced with a dirty needle. Other than that:
- Needles should be heated before use, to make them more sterile.
- Piercers should wash their hands with anti-bacterial soap. The piercer may use disposable gloves if necessary.
- Use accessories that have been sterilized with anti-bacterial liquid.
Step 4. Do the piercing
The piercer will use a needle to mark the area to be pierced. After the skin is pierced, the piercer must attach an accessory to the hole that has been made and smear the area with an anti-bacterial solution.
Step 5. Take proper care after cheek piercing
New piercings require special care to reduce the risk of infection or other effects. Ask your piercer what treatment to do. You will be asked to clean the pierced area with salt water several times a day, until the wound heals.
- Your piercer will give you some cleaning fluid, but if you don't get one from your piercer, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon (5 ml) of salt to 250 ml of distilled water.
- Wipe the saline solution using a cotton swab. Wipe the area around the installed accessory and gently clean the top.
- Do not play with accessories when the piercing has healed. By doing this, the bacteria on your hand can move into the hole, and the hole will move from where it was, which can enlarge the wound.
Step 6. Leave the piercing hole for one to three months
Piercing holes usually take one to three months to heal. Before removing the accessory, the piercing hole must be completely healed. Do not remove the accessory too quickly as the piercing will close. At least wait up to one (up to three) months for the wound in the piercing to heal slowly.
- Once you remove the accessory from your piercing, your skin will begin to repair itself. Meanwhile, you will see two small holes on your cheeks. After completely healed, there will be like two dimples on the part that has been pierced.
- During this time you should be careful with the type of accessories you use. Some people have allergies to metallic materials in accessories, especially low-quality and low-priced accessories.
- Notes: piercing is a way that gives semi-permanent results! You'll have these artificial "dimples" all the time, no matter what facial expression you put on.
Tips
- It's true that dimples look attractive, but you will be more attractive if you are yourself and appear as you are.
- You can use the bottle cap and then suck your cheek. However, this method will only result in unnatural dimples.
- You can also do cosmetic surgery. This method is an effective way to get dimples, although it is not a natural way.
