This wikiHow teaches you how to download and install Skype on smartphones, tablets, and computers. Skype service can be used free of charge. However, you will need a Microsoft account in order to sign in to this service.

Method 1 of 4: On iPhone
Step 1. Open the App Store
on iPhone.
Tap the App Store icon, which looks like a white “A” on a light blue background.
Step 2. Touch Search
It's a magnifying glass icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.
If you are using an iPad, the option “ Search ” may be in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Step 3. Touch the search bar
This option is at the top of the screen. The keyboard will appear on the iPhone screen afterwards.
Step 4. Type in skype
After that, you can search for the Skype application in the App Store catalog.
Step 5. Touch Search
This blue button is on the device's keyboard. The Skype app will be searched in the App Store.
Step 6. Touch GET
It's to the right of the "Skype for iPhone" heading.
Step 7. Scan for Touch ID
When prompted, scan your fingerprint to confirm selection. Skype will be downloaded to iPhone afterwards.
If you don't require a Touch ID scan to download content from the App Store, tap the “ Install ” when prompted and enter your Apple ID password.

Method 2 of 4: On Android Device
Step 1. Open Google Play Store
on the device.
Tap the Google Play Store icon which looks like a colorful triangle on a white background.
Step 2. Touch the search bar
This bar is at the top of the screen.
Step 3. Type in skype
After that, a drop-down menu with a list of the appropriate applications will be displayed.
Step 4. Tap Skype - free IM & video calls
This option is the top result in the drop-down menu. Touch an option to access the Skype app page.
Step 5. Touch INSTALL
It's a green button on the right side of the screen.
Step 6. Touch ACCEPT when prompted
After that, Skype will immediately be downloaded to the device.
Step 7. Open Skype
After Skype has finished downloading, touch the “ OPEN ” in the Google Play Store window, or touch the Skype icon on the device's page/app drawer.

Method 3 of 4: On Windows Computer
Step 1. Open the “Start” menu
Click the Windows logo in the lower-left corner of the screen.
Step 2. Type in store
The Windows Store app will be searched on the computer.
Step 3. Click Store
It's at the top of the "Start" window. After that, the Windows Store application will run.
Step 4. Click the search bar
It's in the upper-right corner of the Windows Store app window.
Step 5. Type in skype
A drop-down menu with the appropriate search results will be displayed.
Step 6. Click Skype
This option is the first option in the drop-down menu. After that, the Skype application page will load.
Step 7. Click Get
It's on the left side of the page. Click the button to install Skype to the computer.
If you have previously installed Skype, click the “ Install ”.
Step 8. Open Skype
Click the button Launch ” in blue in the Windows Store window. This button is displayed after Skype is installed.
Step 9. Sign in to Skype
Usually, you will automatically sign in using your Microsoft account information. If not, enter your Microsoft email address and password, then click the “ Sign In ” in the middle of the page. The Skype account will be opened and the saved messages will be loaded.
If you are automatically logged into an account you don't want to use, click the “ ⋯ ” in the upper left corner of the Skype window, select “ Sign Out ” in the drop-down menu that appears, and log back in with the account you need to use.
Method 4 of 4: On Mac Computer
Step 1. Go to the official Skype website
Visit https://www.skype.com/ via a browser.
Step 2. Click Get Skype
It's a blue button in the middle of the page. The Skype installation file will then be downloaded to your Mac computer.

Step 3. Wait for Skype to finish downloading
This process can take a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on your internet connection.
Step 4. Open the Skype DMG file
Double-click the downloaded Skype installation file to open it.
If prompted, verify the download through the System Preferences program on the computer before continuing
Step 5. Install Skype
In the DMG file window, click and drag the Skype icon to the " Applications " folder, then release the mouse button. Skype will be installed to the computer afterwards.

Step 6. Click Applications
This folder is on the left side of the Finder window. As an alternative, click the Go ” at the top of the screen and click “ Applications ” in the displayed drop-down menu.
If the Finder window is not selected, you cannot see the “ Go ” at the top of the screen.
Step 7. Open Skype
Find and double-click the Skype icon. The Skype login page will open after that.
Step 8. Sign in to Skype
Type in your Microsoft account email address (or phone number/Skype username) and account password, then follow the on-screen instructions. Once signed in, you can use Skype however you want.
