This wikiHow teaches you how to make a fishing rod in Minecraft Survival mode.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Minecraft PE
Step 1. Run Minecraft PE
This application is in the form of a stretch of grass on a block of soil.
Step 2. Tap Play
It's in the center of the screen.
Minecraft PE will rotate your tablet or phone screen to landscape mode so you have to hold it horizontally, not vertically
Step 3. Tap on the existing world
The last position you saved in the world will load.
You can also tap Create New at the top of this page, then tapping Generate Random at the top of the next page to customize the new world settings. Launch a new world by tapping Play which is on the left side of the screen.
Step 4. Gather the materials needed to make a fishing rod
To make a fishing rod, make a crafting table first. The list of ingredients needed in total is:
- Two wooden blocks - Cut any tree trunk to make two wooden blocks. You'll need these blocks of wood to make some planks that will later be used to make a craft table and sticks for fishing rods.
- Two rolls of rope - Kill the spider. You can find spiders in caves or shady areas, although they usually roam at night. If you want to kill him at night, make sure you have prepared a safe place to escape.
Step 5. Open inventory (inventory)
You can do this by tapping … in the right corner of the hotbar located at the bottom of the screen.
Step 6. Tap on the “Crafting” tab
It's a colorful square icon on the left side of the screen, above the tabs in the lower-left corner.
Step 7. Tap the board icon, then double-tap 4 x
A wooden box icon will appear on the left side of the page. This is a wooden plank icon. Tap the button 4 x the one on the right to make 4 planks of wood from one block of wood. In total, you will have 8 boards.
Step 8. Tap the crafting table icon
This icon is on the left side of the page similar to the icon on the tab you are currently using.
Step 9. Tap 1 x
Once you do, a crafting table will be created and added to your inventory.
Step 10. Tap on the wand icon present in the left-hand window
Step 11. Tap 4 x
You will now have 4 sticks in your inventory. You only need 3 sticks to make one rod.
Step 12. Tap on the X present in the top left corner
Your inventory will be closed.
If the crafting table isn't in the hotbar at the bottom of the screen, first tap the inventory tab in the lower-left corner of the screen. Next, tap the crafting table icon to place it on the hotbar
Step 13. Tap on the crafting table icon present in the hotbar
Step 14. Tap anywhere in front of you
The crafting table will be placed on the ground where you tap your finger.
Step 15. Tap the crafting table
The crafting table interface will open. You can use it to select and make fishing rods.
Step 16. Tap the fishing rod icon
This icon is in the form of a stick with a rope looped around the front, which can be found in the center of the crafting table window
Step 17. Tap on the 1 x button present on the right side of the screen
Once you do that, a fishing rod will be created and added to the hotbar if there is still space left. If there is no space, the rod will be placed in the inventory.
Part 2 of 3: Minecraft Computer Edition
Step 1. Run Minecraft
The application is brown with a stretch of green grass at the top.
Step 2. Select the game you want to load
You must load games made in Survival mode, not Creative.
If you want, you can create a new game. Make sure you make the game in Survival mode
Step 3. Gather the materials needed to make a fishing rod

Step 6. Click a block of wood, then click the crafting area
To do this, you must have a pile of wood containing two blocks.
If you have two blocks of wood that come from two different types of trees, turn them into separate planks
Step 7. Click the stack containing the four boards
The icon will appear to the right of the quick craft area after you place a block of wood into it.
Step 8. Right-click each square in the crafting area
Every 4 boards will be placed in their respective squares in the crafting area.
If you're using a Mac, use two fingers to click if you're using a computer trackpad
Step 9. Click the crafting table icon
Its icon is to the right of the crafting area.
Step 10. Click on the hotbar
This is a row of boxes at the bottom of the screen. A craft table will be placed in your hand.
You may have to scroll the mouse up or down to select the table
Step 11. Press E again
Your inventory will be closed.
Step 12. Select the crafting table, then right click on the ground
The crafting table will be placed on the ground in front of you.
Step 13. Right-click the crafting table
The crafting window will open.
Step 14. Place the stack of 4 planks on the crafting table
To do this, click the stack of boards, then click any square in the bottom or middle row of the crafting table interface.
Step 15. Right-click on the stack of boards, then click the square above it
The board stack will be halved, while the other half of the stack will be placed on top of the first stack. This allows you to make sticks.
Step 16. Double click the stick icon
It's on the right side of the crafting area. Now the wand is stuck to your cursor.
Step 17. Place the sticks to make fishing rods
You can do this by right-clicking the bottom left square in the crafting area, the middle square, and the top right square. Once you've done that, you'll have a row of diagonal sticks.
Step 18. Place the remaining sticks in your inventory, then click on the strings
The fishing line will be selected.
Step 19. Place the rope to make a fishing line
You can do this by right-clicking the two empty squares on the right side of the crafting grid.
Step 20. Click the fishing rod icon
This icon is to the right of the crafting area. Your fishing rod will be created and pasted at the cursor.
Step 21. Save the rod by clicking on the inventory
You can also click on the hotbar to make it a usable item.
Part 3 of 3: Minecraft Console Edition
Step 1. Run Minecraft on PlayStation or Xbox
Step 2. Select Play, then press A (for Xbox) or X (for PS).
The Minecraft main menu will appear.
Step 3. Select your saved game, then press X. button or A.
The game must be in Survival mode.
You can also create a new world using the tabs to the right of an existing world
Step 4. Select Load, then press the button A or X.
The game you selected will load.
If you want to create a new world, select Create New World.

The stick icon is an item to the right of the board icon. Once you've done that, you'll have 4 sticks and three of them you'll need to make fishing rods.
Step 9. Scroll to the crafting table icon, then press X or A.
It's three spaces from the stick icon. Now you have a crafting table in the hotbar.
Step 10. Press the B or circle button
The crafting menu will be closed.
Step 11. Select the crafting table, then press the left directional button
You can select the crafting table using the shoulder button (the button above the trigger) on your controller. Now the crafting table will be placed on the ground in front of you.
If the crafting table only appears in the inventory, but does not appear in the hotbar, first press the Y button or triangle, then select the crafting table and press the X or A button, and move the table to the hotbar
Step 12. Hover over the crafting table, then press the left directional button
The crafting table interface will open.
Step 13. Press the right shoulder button once
The "Tools and Weapons" tab on the crafting table will be displayed.
Step 14. Scroll right to select the rod
It's six spaces to the right of where you opened this tab.
Step 15. Press X. button or A.
Your fishing rod will be created and placed in the hotbar if there is still room there.
When there is no space, the rod will be placed in the inventory
Tips
- The rod can be used to activate the pressure plate and tow ships and mine carts.
- The rod can be used as a leash for a cat or dog.
- The buoy will be difficult to see if you throw it straight ahead. Throw the float to the left, then move it slightly to the right to make it easier to see.
- The rod can also be used to dredge the sand heap.
- Each rod can be used (thrown and rolled) 65 times. After that, the rod will break so you have to make a new one.
Warning
- When you no longer have room in your hotbar and inventory for fishing rods, throw one of the items out there so you can make fishing rods.
- Unlike other tools in Minecraft, a fishing rod cannot double as an effective weapon.
