Getting money directly for urgent needs is a difficult thing to do. Fewer people have secure jobs and have the savings to survive difficult times or in unforeseen circumstances. Fortunately, there are still ways to raise money quickly.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Doing informal work around the place of residence
Step 1. Advertise your services
Create your own website or write ads like on OLX.
- Specify your ad on the type of work you want to do (home repair, plumbing, electrical work, yard work, cleaning, etc.), at what price you want it, and the time available.
- Provide several ways to contact you. If you want to be contactable by phone and e-mail, you can have a better chance of getting a job.
Step 2. Build a network of potential customers
Talk to your friends and neighbors first.
- Tell friends and neighbors that you need money and that you are willing to do some light housework and cleaning the yard.
- Also ask friends and neighbors to tell their friends to recommend your services.
- Your friends and neighbors will probably be your first customers. Make sure they tell someone else if you've done a good job.
Step 3. Provide friendly rates
The main reason someone uses your services and not the services of an expert is because the price you offer is much cheaper.
- Ask for a small amount of money that can provide for your life, rather than a large amount.
- A good way to estimate the amount you are asking for is to use an hourly rate, for example Rp. 80,000-Rp.100,000. Also, divide your work average by rounding it to the nearest hour. In other words, if you work 6 hours 33 minutes, your bill is only for 6 hours 30 minutes. It will make your job easier.
Step 4. Act professionally
Wear clean clothes and smile when people open their doors. Shake their hands when you introduce yourself. Make eye contact.
- Be sure to describe exactly what type of service you offer, whether it's housekeeping, yard work, cleaning, etc.
- Be willing to work on weekends or at night.
- Answer calls and job offers quickly and on time.
Step 5. Bring your own equipment
If you have any special equipment you can carry with you like a toolbox or a leaf and grass rake, then get under it..
- Heavier items such as ladders and lawn mowers are usually in the house, but make sure you can use your own equipment.
- If you don't have the equipment to complete the job offered, don't accept the job.
Method 2 of 4: Getting a Short Term Job
Step 1. Think about your skills
You may be able to find an easier short-term job if you have certain skills.
- Jobs related to bookkeeping and accounting are usually short-term jobs. If you have expertise in bookkeeping, you will find a fairly well-paying position for a short period of time.
- Offices and HR departments often look for part-time workers when there is an increase in the number of documents and files.
- If you have expertise in technology, some companies or websites may hire you on a short-term basis.
Step 2. Check local media for short term jobs
Online buyer-seller meeting places such as OLX excel in the job vacancy category which also frequently advertises short-term or temporary jobs. Check wherever you can and think about what you can do.
- Take a job as a person carrying billboards by the side of the road. All kinds of jobs hire billboard pointers to stand outside for 8 to 10 hours and shake big billboards at passing cars. Used car parks, loan shops, and certain furniture stores use this marketing technique and often pay in cash at the end of the day.
- Work on specific events. Look for lists of people and small businesses who need help setting up, running and dismantling stalls for local events such as Sunday markets and bazaars. This kind of work often starts in the early hours of the morning and will be paid the same day. Be prepared to do anything from building to running a kiosk.
Step 3. Participate in research and surveys
This method is not a reliable way to make a lot of money, but if you only need a little money in a short time, it can be an option. The Google search engine will help you find online surveys.
- Ensure that you meet quality standards for research before applying. For example, if you don't want to apply for a study conducted to look at the effects of smoking if you are not a smoker.
- Apply in person to speed up the process. From the experience of multiple surveys, you will be able to show and conduct paid surveys here and there. Research usually lasts longer but may compensate before the end of the study period.
Step 4. Join a temporary employee agency
Temporary employment agencies place thousands of day workers. If you have a particular skill or experience working in a field, you may have good luck. There are a number of tips to help get started with joining an agency:
- Visit an agent. Tell them you want to work and follow their orders. There will usually be an application to fill out, followed by an interview that will look at your work experience and qualifications.
- Bring a curriculum vitae. This document will help the temporary employment agency to sort out the types of work you are qualified for.
- Dress according to the office environment. Work attire indicates you are looking for success and will suit a professional environment.
- Meet your agent. He will help you find a job every day. Try to be friendly and easy to get along with your agent. This will help you get some opportunities.
- Take any job that is offered. Temporary employee agencies can't work miraculously, they can't get jobs for all temporary employees every day. If your agent finds a job you can do and offers it to you, then take the job immediately.
- Often, a temporary employee with a longer employment contract can be hired as a permanent employee, so consider this job as your permanent job.
Method 3 of 4: Selling and Reselling
Step 1. Think about selling the car
This step isn't practical for many people but if you're lucky enough to live in a place where you don't need a car to get to work, or to the supermarket, you're sitting on a pile of cash in the parking lot. Here are steps that can help in selling a car:
- Gather information about your car. Find proof of vehicle ownership, receipts and records of periodic service or maintenance, as well as records of previous car ownership. Also know the features in your car (CD player, seat control, etc).
- Having receipts and records of regular oil changes and servicing can show that your car is well looked after and will help you get a good deal.
- Determine the price for your car. To find the right price, you can look up the price of your car in a car magazine or look in the cars for sale section of the newspaper to find out how much a car like yours is selling for.
- Advertise cars online as well as through newspapers. In your ad, specify the model and year of the car, along with the features it includes and its actual condition (if the car needs repair, be honest), the bid price, and the payment method. Include lots of photos and a variety of ways to contact you.
Step 2. Wash the shed in the yard
Advertise for free on OLX, or local newspapers at low cost. Clean and properly arrange all the items you want to sell. Display your wares in front of your house or apartment in the morning.
- This is a great way for those who have never sold anything to earn money and still have a lot of stuff to sell. People are more interested in laundry that uses a wider yard.
- Make the price of goods sold a little bit expensive but negotiable. Most of the items at the warehouse sell at 1/3 or 1/2 of the original price, if the item is still in good condition.
- Make the price in multiples of Rp. 2.500, - so you can easily give change.
- To make your laundry stand out from the crowd, try seeding some of the larger items like furniture and fitness equipment so you'll get a bigger fraction of your change. Place these items at the end of the garage or yard to attract buyers.
- There are many neighborhoods that hold laundry in a coordinated manner. It's a good idea to co-host your laundry at the same event as this kind of event will attract a large number of potential buyers.
Step 3. Sell personal items online
There are two basic ways to do this if you need a quick profit: OLX and Kaskus.
- On OLX, advertise in the appropriate section of the site. Make sure to post images if needed, people sometimes ignore ads without an image included.
- Use the word “fixed price” if you don't want bargains and use “or highest bid” if you are willing to lower the price a bit.
- On OLX, you can set timing and purchase options, which may apply a number of rates.
- If you decide to sell at the right price using the “Buy Now” option, you will have to pay a flat rate of several tens of thousands of rupiah in addition to the sales share. “Buy Now” gives you access to control the selling price.
- If you choose to sell items at auction, choose an active auction time period such as Sunday night as that day is believed to be the most profitable time of the week for auctions by OLX sellers.
Step 4. Sell to a pawnshop
A pawnbroker is a person who will pay in cash for your goods that are in good condition. Pawnbrokers tend to pay low prices and are not willing to bargain.
- Take your belongings with you to the pawnshop. Most pawnshops have short working hours for security reasons so before four in the afternoon, make sure you're there.
- Decide whether to accept the offer or not. Estimate to earn Rp.600,000, -up to Rp. 5,000,000, - for a bicycle. In many cases, you will have to go to the pawnshop if you really need the money right now and you have no other choice because your item is not priced properly.
Step 5. Resell to collectors
There are several markets for collectors of culturally relevant items, from memory plates to video games and old toys. If you equip yourself with that knowledge, you can buy a number of items at low prices and then resell them to collectors and make a profit.
- Specialize in one type of collection. You can choose retro toys or certain glassware. Start by looking at what collections you have and start there.
- Know your subject. Do a research to see how the condition of the goods that are said to be in good condition and valuable. Know which items are found frequently or very rarely. Rare items will have a better selling value.
- Go to cheap trading places. Laundry and second hand stock exchanges are good friends for sellers of both collectibles.
- Use computer resources. A website that specializes in selling collectibles can help you gauge what collectibles are being sold in your neighborhood.
- Sell online. You'll get a better price selling online than selling to collectors in person. This method will expand the customer network.
- Get to know suppliers and business people. These people can be promising connections to advertise your collection and to find sellers who can help you sell items.
Method 4 of 4: Using a Modern Approach
Step 1. Show on the road
If you are talented enough and have a musical instrument, you can play music on the street while collecting donations. A good street musician in a crowded place can make some money after playing for an hour or two. Here are useful tips for street musicians:
- Get permission. Some cities and communities have laws that require a permit or charge a fee for street musicians.
- Choose a good location. Avoid areas where other musicians are and have high levels of congestion. Choose a lively but safe location in the city center as a start.
- Choose your repertoire carefully. A good time to play music on the road is during the holiday season. Jazz and popular music are popular themes.
- Be polite to the audience. Be a friendly and friendly person with everyone who passes by. Smile and nod whenever you make eye contact with someone.
Step 2. Collect the metal pieces
Iron, steel and especially silver can be sold to scrap collectors or scrap metal in pounds. To make a sizable profit, you'll need to carry a few pounds and be sure to have a vehicle that has enough space to haul metal.
- Pay attention to objects and building materials such as pipes and neglected metal furniture that are around. Dumpsters outside of tech-based companies may have lots of cable reels and other components that can be sold as junk.
- Be careful when collecting metal. Wear thick gloves, bring a friend and don't look for metal at night.
- Do not steal or dig metal from any source that is still in use.
- Look around your neighborhood in the morning before collecting trash. Often you can find items that can be used as junk, repaired or sold.
Step 3. Collecting the rocks
There are guidebooks available in almost all areas where precious stones can be found. Fossils, geodesy, and gemstones are widely available in various regions. Keep in mind that collecting these kinds of items is time-consuming and may not be the quickest solution to your financial problems.
- Learn the different grades of gemstones. If you collect quite valuable stones, always keep in mind that color and size sometimes make them quite marketable.
- Bring a shovel or hoe, gloves, hat and a basket or bucket. Often, to find better quality rock and fossils, you have to dig a little into the ground. Make sure that this is legal; all places marked in the user manual are legal.
- Be careful and stay away from private property including mining property.
- Sell your collection at a specialty stone shop. You won't get much results. Even so, it is almost impossible for you to sell unprocessed stone online.
Step 4. Sell plastic bottles to earn money
Collecting bottles from other people's trash and selling them for money is possible.
- You'll need to collect quite a few bottles before you sell them, so be prepared to put in the effort to collect them.
- You should also find a recycler who will buy plastic bottles in bulk. The Google search engine can help you find companies you can work with.
Step 5. Sell your hair
Believe it or not, there is a market for your hair. If you have real hair (no coloring or maintenance), long hair, you can make some money from it.
- Hair is the product of anything that goes into the body, so if you eat a healthy diet and don't smoke, you can sell your hair for a high price.
- An online tool is available to find out how much your hair costs.
Warning
- Don't steal, create anonymous letters or fake it to get money. If you think there's going to be a lot of trouble with being broke, wait until you're broke and then stand up in court for criminal action.
- You may still have to pay income tax or other taxes on your income, especially if you work in second and third jobs. Don't be trapped by paying in cash in amounts more than the amount of income you can get considering that having to pay large amounts of local revenue or other agencies taxes will not improve your economic situation in the short or long term.
- Don't gamble if you need money. The best chance (only on dice gambling) is honestly the possibility that you will lose. For this reason, people refer to the lottery as an “idiot tax”.
