For some people, the ability to move the face by raising one eyebrow may not be so attractive and important. However, it turns out that just by raising one eyebrow, you can signal someone else what you're thinking without having to say anything. You can raise one eyebrow when you are surprised or maybe when you want to attract attention. Lower one eyebrow when you are upset. However, it's worth remembering that practicing this can be quite difficult, you'll need to train your face to master this technique.
Step
Part 1 of 2: Using Your Hands to Train Your Eyebrows
Step 1. Determine which eyebrow is more dominant
Before you start practicing, decide which eyebrows you think will be easier to train. Generally, the brows that are easier to train are your more dominant brows.
- Raise your right eyebrow while looking in the mirror. Then try to raise your left eyebrow. Which eyebrow do you find easier to control? It's more likely that the brows that are easier to control are your dominant brows, and focus your practice on these dominant brows.
- Don't worry if you find your eyebrows difficult to control. Just choose one of the eyebrows and start practicing the eyebrows of your choice.
- Remember which eyebrows you will be training. That way, you won't be wasting too much time training both your eyebrows at the same time.
Step 2. Lift and hold your dominant eyebrow with one hand
If your other eyebrow goes up, use your other hand to hold it in place. This will help your face remember the sensation when one eyebrow is raised. Keep practicing in front of a mirror so you can see and know the correct muscle movement to raise one of your eyebrows.
- If holding your eyebrows using your hands is not comfortable, apply a bandage to your eyebrows. This way, you will no longer rely on your hands to raise your eyebrows, and as a result, your muscles will be easier to control. This will also put your muscles to work to raise your eyebrows.
- Trace the muscles in your brow bone with your finger while your brows are still raised. This muscle will feel tense when touched. Focus your attention on this muscle as you raise your eyebrows. Use this technique even if you still occasionally use your hands to practice. This exercise will help you remember where your brow muscles are located.
Step 3. Hold your unraised eyebrows
Once you know how it feels when one of your eyebrows is raised, loosen the raised eyebrow and hold the lower one.
Exercise your eyebrows for 2-5 minutes every day
Step 4. Hold your raised eyebrows
After practicing raising your dominant eyebrow, you can start practicing lowering the other eyebrow. Practice this eyebrow by holding your dominant eyebrow with your hand, and trying to lower the other eyebrow without the help of your hands or fingers.
- Do this step for 2-5 minutes every day.
- Some people may not be able to raise their eyebrows without using their hands, and this is normal. However, you'll never know what you're capable of if you don't practice. Even skilled people must have trained hard before they could master this ability.
Part 2 of 2: Practice Without Hands
Step 1. Reflect
It is important that you practice in front of a mirror. Often we feel that the movements we make are correct, but when we look in the mirror, our movements may not be appropriate.
Step 2. Train your eyebrows to go up and down
Practice this movement for one minute. This exercise can get used to your eyebrow muscles and brain.
Step 3. Focus your practice on raising one eyebrow
Practice the eyebrows you have chosen for five minutes without the help of hands. Ignore the other eyebrows first, focus on the exercise of your chosen brow, and try to raise this eyebrow as high as possible.
Step 4. Focus your practice on lowering your other eyebrow
Set aside five minutes to practice lowering this eyebrow, and also, ignore the other eyebrows first.
Step 5. Take five minutes to raise one eyebrow and lower the other at the same time
You should be familiar with this move. Practice this movement diligently.
Step 6. Practice every day
You don't have to train for hours, but you do need to practice every day. You will not be able to master this technique if you do not practice diligently and consistently.
Step 7. Try raising your other eyebrow
Once you have mastered the technique of raising the dominant eyebrow, you can try raising the other eyebrow. It is hoped that with enough practice, your eyebrow muscles will get used to it and the training process can be faster. However, don't give up easily if in the end the process of this exercise still takes a long time, because these eyebrows are not your dominant eyebrows.
Tips
- Keep patient! It may take some time to master this technique, but it can be very useful to you in the future.
- Practice in front of a mirror. At first you may feel silly and awkward, but practicing while looking in the mirror is the best method for mastering this technique.
- Tilt your head to make this technique more visible. If you're raising your right eyebrow, tilt your head to the left. This will make your raised eyebrows look higher.
- Learn this technique on both your eyebrows. For some people, there are several muscle movements that can make one eye appear smaller than the other. Practice this movement on your eyebrows to make the size of your eyes look more balanced.
- Don't be frustrated! Mastering this technique does take quite a lot of time.
- Don't worry if you can't master this technique. Some people may be able to master this technique, and others may not.
- Curl your eyebrows into an angry expression, then return your face to a normal expression. Repeat the process several times to train your eyebrow muscles.
