There are many reasons to shave legs, and there are also many tools and ways to do it. Maybe you just want your feet to be smooth and look beautiful. Or maybe you are a professional cyclist and need to maximize your aerodynamics. Whatever the reason, the fact is that the process of shaving the legs is an awkward one with little difficulty and danger. The best way to shave your legs depends on how much hair you want to shave, how fast your hair grows, and how you were taught (if you were ever taught). If you need it, we can help you. Read on for more tips for getting smooth and soft feet.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Disposable Razor
Step 1. Check your razor
Make sure it is clean, sharp and undamaged. If your hair is very thin, you can use the same knife several times. But if you have thick hair, you may only be able to use it once or twice. If you're not sure, once you feel the razor starting to pull on your leg hairs, then it's time to replace your razor with a new one.
Step 2. Take a shower
Take a shower as usual before shaving. Leave your hair and skin wet for about two to four minutes, but not so long in the hot water that your hair follicles open, so you can't shave all the way to the tips of your hair.
Step 3. Sit down
If you're in the shower, sit at the end of the tub, lift one leg up against the wall, bending it so you can easily touch your ankle.
Step 4. Apply a water-soluble shaving cream or skin cream
Try looking for products that contain moisturizers. The content of emollients will help smooth the skin, and choose products without perfume to reduce the risk of skin irritation. Using a water-soluble skin cream may be more comfortable for your skin than a regular shaving cream; skin cream also saves you from having to buy special shaving products.
Step 5. Start shaving your ankles
Start at the very bottom of your feet, and in long upward strokes shave your legs. Do not rush, the more important thing is to make smooth and even movements. Rinse your razor after a while - using hot water is better - to clean and remove any hairs clogging the blades, and to make sure your blades are always wet.
Move your razor up to your thighs, shaving the inside and outside of your thighs as well. Don't forget to rinse the razor every few moments
Step 6. Shave your legs
Carefully repeat the same process for your other leg - apply cream, shave gently and rinse. Shave the tips of your feet, and the tops of your feet. The skin on the soles of your feet is thinner than the skin on the rest of your feet, so be careful not to get hurt.
Step 7. Rinse
When you're done shaving one leg, rinse. And repeat the same process on your other leg.
Step 8. Check for unshaven areas
Run your fingertips over the area of the foot you need to examine. If any part is missed then shave that part, then continue your examination. Once you are satisfied with the results, rinse your feet, dry them with a towel, and enjoy your smooth feet.
Step 9. Moisturize
Use post-shave oil or lotion, or other medicinal ingredients to soothe your skin, and reduce the redness of shaving.
Method 2 of 4: Electric Razor
Step 1. Wash your feet
Moisturize your legs and stand straight, ready to shave.
Step 2. Make sure your razor is clean and sharp
A dirty shaver won't shave as well as a clean shaver, and it can pull on your hair, causing pain and leaving red marks. Always use a clean shaver!
Step 3. Gently press the shaver to your feet
Make sure the entire shaving head is in contact with your feet. That way, you'll be able to shave all the way to the ends of the hair with minimal cuts.
- You don't need to press too hard while shaving - press gently, and let the shaver move to shave your head. If you press too hard, you will flatten the hair, so the result will be uneven and wavy. This will also make the razor dull faster.
- A gentle touch will make the shaving process easier and avoid skin irritation.
Step 4. Hold the razor flat against your skin
Holding it at an angle will cause skin irritation and residual fur.
Method 3 of 4: Waxing
Step 1. Grow your fur
For this to work, your bristles need to be long enough for the wax to stick to your feet. Allow your leg hair to grow to at least 1 cm long.
Step 2. Exfoliate the skin
A few days before waxing, use a body scrub to exfoliate your skin. Do this before waxing to prevent skin irritation problems.
Step 3. Powder your feet
Before waxing, sprinkle some powder or baby powder onto your feet. The powder will absorb the oil from your skin, and make the wax stick more to the hair.
Step 4. Heat
Heat the wax as directed on the package. Make sure not to heat it too high, as the wax will burn your skin and cause a lot of pain.
Step 5. Prepare a comfortable chair
Sit on an easy-to-clean surface. The waxing process will usually leave a lot of residue. Apply a thin layer of wax evenly. Hold the brush at a 90° angle and apply the wax in the direction of hair growth. Don't forget the soles of your feet too!
Step 6. Pull
Grasp your leg with one hand and pull the waxing strip with the other. Pull the strip in the opposite direction of hair growth. Pull it fast - because the slower it gets the more it hurts!
- Keep your hands as close to the skin as possible as you pull the strip. the pain will decrease. Remove any remaining wax.
- Place a damp cloth over your feet if necessary, this will soothe your skin irritation.
Step 7. Clean the remaining wax from the surface of your skin
Soak a cotton ball in body oil and apply it to your feet.
Step 8. Apply antiseptic
After waxing, use a topical antiseptic spray (containing salicylic acid) to clean the foot area, stop hair growth and relieve irritation.
Method 4 of 4: Chemical Hair Removal
Step 1. Make sure your skin is free of cuts and injuries
The chemicals will dissolve the keratin at the base of the fur.
- Clean skin will make the shaving process easier because the oil on the skin and hair will inhibit the work of chemicals.
- Skin without wounds will prevent irritation.
Step 2. Soften the fur
Apply a warm washcloth to your feet to soften the fur. Moisturize your leg hairs for three to five minutes. Dry when you're done.
Step 3. Apply a generous amount of cream, covering the entire fur
Do not apply to your skin. Hair removers are designed to work without them.
Step 4. Follow the instructions on the package
Allow this remedy to coat the leg hair for the recommended time. Don't leave it on longer than recommended - it can irritate your skin and even burn it.
Keep the clock near you so you don't miss the time limit. If your feet are burning before the recommended time, rinse them with water
Step 5. Clean
When finished, remove the remaining product by lifting it with a plastic tool if available and rinsing with water.
Use a damp cloth in a downward motion. This method will remove the remaining hair and clean your feet at once
Step 6. Avoid irritation
Try not to use harsh products or treatments after using a hair removal cream for a day or two.
Tips
- Applying ice cubes to your feet after shaving will make your skin smooth.
- Conditioner is a good substitute for shaving cream or gel because it moisturizes the skin during shaving so you don't need to apply lotion again afterward.
- Do it slowly. If you shave too quickly and carelessly around your ankles and knees, you're bound to get hurt.
- Straighten the soles of your feet while shaving the ankles.
- Before shaving, soak the razor in cold water. That way, the knife will be cleaner.
- Make sure to use enough shaving cream or gel, so you can shave easily and avoid cuts.
- You will get the best results if you use a new razor sharp, or replace it after a certain amount of time.
- Rinse the tub when you're done, don't leave any feathers in it.
- The only difference between women's and men's razors is the handle design and color.
- If you are worried about getting hurt, you can buy Nair or Veet. (Both of these products are used with a bladeless shaver, so feet are smoother for longer).
- If you want smooth feet but don't want to shower first, try covering your feet with a thick lotion and then shaving to keep them smooth. Rinse off the remaining lotion and razor hair in a glass of water and dry with a clean cloth.
- If shaving in an upward direction continues to irritate your skin, try shaving in the opposite direction. The results won't be as smooth as the way up, but will cause less skin irritation.
- If you want to start shaving, talk to your parents.
- Do not use an electric razor the first time you shave. You will get hurt.
- When shaving, do not move around. Perform straight movements from above or from under your feet.
- After shaving for some time, the coated razor is perfect for shaving underarms and legs, without shaving gel! You can use this method to save money!
- Use a body scrub before shaving to remove dead skin cells for a perfect shave.
- For a deep, long-lasting shave, follow the instructions listed in the shower shave, and then shave your legs again with an electric razor. Your feet will be as smooth as a baby afterwards!
- The first time you shave, do it slowly with a little pressure until you get used to it. If you press too hard, you will get hurt. Do it slowly, and if it doesn't work, increase the pressure a little at a time.
-
Be careful when shaving certain areas.
- Be careful when shaving your knees.
- As you shave the back of your thighs, notice that the hair in that area and on the front of the butt is growing in a slightly odd direction. Feel the direction of the hair with your hand, and shave in the opposite direction.
- When shaving with a razor near the bottom of your feet, pay attention to the shins! The layer of skin on that part is thin so you have to be careful. Be careful around the knees too. It may not be easy shaving around the bend of the knee, so do it slowly!
- Shave slowly on the tops of your feet. Especially around the bones!
Warning
- Don't shave when your skin is dry!
- Avoid cuts and press gently to avoid razor cuts.
- If you get hurt, don't apply lotion that contains perfume on it, because it will sting.
- Take care of the knees, ankles, fingers, hips and other bony parts of the body to avoid injuring the top layer of skin.
- If you don't apply lotion after shaving, your skin will be dry and cracked.
- If injured, wash your wound and apply a bandage.
- Don't let other people even your family use your razor.
- If your skin is sensitive, you need to use a mild soap, do not use shaving gel to avoid skin irritation.
- Use lotion after bathing after shaving. This lotion will moisturize the skin and make your skin look beautiful.
