Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups (192 grams) flour
- 1 cup (201 grams) sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon (7 grams) salt
- 1 teaspoon (2 grams) baking soda
- 3 tablespoons (43 grams) cocoa
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vinegar
- 6 tablespoons (90 ml) oil
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla essence or 2 tsp. (2ml) vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 cup (200 ml) water
- 2 eggs

Step 1. Sift all dry ingredients
The dry ingredients are: flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, and chocolate. Place all ingredients in a sieve, then toss over the bowl to remove lumps.

Step 2. Mix well all the liquid ingredients
Vinegar, oil, vanilla, water and eggs. You can add individual ingredients, or mix all of the ingredients in a second bowl before adding to the dry ingredients.

Step 3. Pour the mixture into a floured and greased 8-inch round pan
The oil and flour will keep the mixture from sticking to the pan.

Step 4. Bake at 350 degrees F
(175 C) for 30 minutes.

Step 5. Let the cake cool for 5 minutes

Tips
- Do not cut the cake or remove the cake from the pan unless it has cooled for at least 5 minutes.

- Use half or double the amount of ingredients to make smaller or larger cakes.
