Rum and Coca Cola are bar favorites. This classic drink can be made into another, more fun version for a party: jelly in a shot of jelly! This drink mix can be varied easily and is ready to eat in a few hours. All you have to do is prepare the jelly mixture and the two drinks, print them in shot glasses and serve them to your guests.
Ingredients
- 2 packs (85 grams) cherry-flavored jelly
- 2 cups (475 ml) Coca Cola, 1 cup (240 ml) boiled and 1 cup (240 ml) chilled
- 1 cup (240 ml) white rum
Step
Part 1 of 3: Making the Jelly Mix
Step 1. Bring one cup of Coca Cola to a boil
Pour one cup of Coca Cola into a small saucepan. Let it boil. This process takes at least a few minutes..
You can also use Diet Coke
Step 2. Dissolve the jelly powder in the boiling Coca Cola
Pour two packets of jelly into the boiling Coca Cola. Stir for two minutes until the jelly powder dissolves. Continue stirring if the jelly powder has not completely dissolved. Stir until you no longer see any carbonation bubbles in the jelly mixture.
You can also use plain gelatin and flavored rum
Step 3. Add Coca Cola and cold rum
When the jelly has dissolved, pour one cup of Coca Cola and one cup of cold rum into the jelly mixture. Stir or shake the mixture. Stir until all ingredients are evenly distributed. You can turn off the heat while mixing the other ingredients.
Part 2 of 3: Cooling the Jelly Mix
Step 1. Pour the mixture into the mould
You can use shot glasses, or small plastic or paper cups as molds. Usually each mold requires at least 60 ml of the jelly mixture. You can pour more or less depending on the size of the mold you are using.
Step 2. Put in the refrigerator for two hours
Before placing it in the refrigerator, arrange the jelly molds on the cake pan. This step is done so that the mold does not move around when you move it. Let the jelly sit in the refrigerator for two hours.
Step 3. Check after two hours
Check the jelly mixture after two hours in the refrigerator. The jelly mixture should have hardened by now. If it hasn't set yet, let the jelly mixture harden in the refrigerator for another two hours.
Part 3 of 3: Serving Jelly
Step 1. Serve with lime wedges
Garnish your jelly with a small wedge of lime. You'll probably need at least two limes, depending on the amount of jelly you're making. Cut the lime into small pieces and place on top of the jelly.
Step 2. Serve with whipped cream
You can serve the jelly in this shot with lime and whipped cream, but you can also serve it with whipped cream alone. Whipped cream will make the jelly sweeter and perfect for dessert. You can use any type of whipped cream. Sprinkle a little cream over the jelly.
Step 3. Pour into molds for special occasions
For special occasions, you can pour the jelly mixture into special molds to create a unique shape. For example, during Super Bowl season, you could use a mold in the shape of a rugby ball. Spray some oil into the molds before pouring the jelly mixture to make it easier to remove the jelly when it hardens.
