Sometimes, new video games and applications require you to update the video card driver on your computer so that your game performance can be improved or more compatible with the game you are playing. Usually, video card drivers are updated automatically through regular software updates, but this update can also be done manually. Follow one of the methods described in this article to update your video card drivers.

Method 1 of 4: Using Windows Updates
Step 1. Click the "Start" button from your Windows desktop
Step 2. Type "Update" in the search field in the Start menu
Step 3. Click "Windows Update" when it appears in the search results
Windows Update Manager will open on your screen.
Step 4. Click "Check for updates" in the left pane of Windows Update
Step 5. Click the link of each update in the list to read the full description of the update
If a particular update includes a video card driver update, this will be listed in the description.
Step 6. Click “Select the updates you want to install

Step 7. Tick next to the video card driver you want to install, if applicable
Step 8. Click “OK

Step 9. Click "Windows Update," then click "Install updates
" Then your Windows computer will install the updates you selected, including your video card drivers.
Method 2 of 4: Setting Windows to Install Updates Automatically
Step 1. Click the "Start" button
Step 2. Type “Update” into the search field provided and click “Windows Update

Step 3. Click on "Change Settings" in the left pane of Windows Update
Step 4. Click “Install updates automatically” from the drop-down menu next to “Important updates

Method 3 of 4: Manually Updating Video Card Drivers in Windows
Step 1. Click the “Start” button and open “Control Panel

Step 3. Click “Personalization,” then click “Display Settings

Step 4. Click “Advanced Settings”, then click “Adapter

Step 5. Locate and note the name and type of your video card driver
You will need this information the next time you manually update the video card driver.

Step 7. Click "Device Manager" under the System category
Step 8. Locate and double click the name of your video card from the list of hardware provided
Details about your video card will be displayed on the screen.

Method 4 of 4: Using Software Update on Mac OS X
Step 1. Click the Apple menu and select “System Preferences
