If you're writing a story in The Sims and want the characters to age at your command, or you've bonded with the family of Sims created and don't want them to die, you can prevent character aging. This wikiHow teaches you how to turn off the aging feature in The Sims.
Step
Method 1 of 3: The Sims 4
Step 1. Open the game options menu
This menu is indicated by a white … icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 2. Go to the “Gameplay” tab
Step 3. Look for the “Auto Age (Played Sims)” drop-down menu
From this menu, you have two character aging options:
- Click No to turn off ageing for all playable characters, including the currently playing family.
- Click Only Active Household to disable ageing for Sims characters, except for the family member you are currently playing.
Step 4. Uncheck the "Auto Age (Unplayed Sims)" option so that other Sims characters can't age automatically
If you don't want the townspeople characters to age automatically, remove the check from the box. After that, these characters will not age.
Step 5. Click Apply Changes to save the changes
Once the changes are saved, your Sims characters will no longer age.
Method 2 of 3: The Sims 3
Step 1. Open a saved game file or play a new family
You cannot adjust character aging settings if you are not playing in the world in Sims (character) mode. The age setting options will be blurred in other modes.
Step 2. Open the “Options” menu
Click the blue … button in the lower left corner of the screen and select Options.
Step 3. Access “Game Options”
This tab is indicated by a gear icon.
Step 4. Uncheck the "Enable Aging" box
This box is on the right side of the menu.
Step 5. Tap the tick icon at the bottom of the “Options” window
Settings will be saved and your Sims character will no longer age.

Tips
- In The Sims 3, characters who are out of their world (eg characters who are traveling or studying at university) don't age until they return home.
- Young adult characters in The Sims 2 will not age by default because the stages of old adulthood apply to students. However, these characters will age into adult Sims characters after graduating from university.
- Some of the alternative characters in The Sims 2 such as zombies and vampires will not age. However, this is not the case for PlantSims. In The Sims 3 and later in the series, characters age or age more slowly so the characters have a longer time to live.
