Whatever the reason, finding a bank account is not difficult. There are several ways to get this number so you can access it at home or on the go. Don't forget to take precautions to keep the account number safe, for example, store it properly and tear up the documents that include it.

Method 1 of 2: Finding the Account Number
Step 1. Find the second set of numbers at the bottom of the check, if you have one
The first set of numbers printed on the left side of the bottom of the check is the bank's 9-digit routing number. The second set which usually has the digits 10-12 is the account number. The third shortest string is the check number.
Numbers will be bracketed with identical symbols. For example: “⑆0123456789⑆”
Step 2. View digital or printed bank statements if applicable
The account number will be printed on every checking account obtained by the customer, whether through your email inbox, or home mailbox. Get a current bank statement and look for the 10-12 digit series of numbers labeled “Account Number” (account number), usually on the right or left side of the document.
Step 3. Use the mobile banking website or app to find the account number via the internet
Browse the bank's website on your computer or open the online app on your phone or tablet. Log in and click on the label that displays your account summary. Usually, the account number is listed on this page. Otherwise, browse the site further or use the “Help” function to find it.
Step 4. Contact the bank if all else fails
Call the phone number listed on the back of the debit/credit card or look up the customer service number on the internet. You will be asked to provide your name, address and identification number so that it can be verified. Then, the bank staff will give you your account number.
If you write down the number, be sure to keep it in a safe place, such as a wallet or cabinet
Method 2 of 2: Keeping Account Number Safe
Step 1. Use a secure internet connection if accessing online accounts
While it can be tempting to check your bank account at a cafe, shop, or train station, it's best to avoid doing so. Your personal identity is at risk of being stolen if you use an unsecured wireless internet connection. Access your online accounts or banking apps only through a secure internet connection.
Step 2. Provide account numbers only on trusted sites
If you need to provide an account number to pay or transfer funds, make sure the site is secure. The site address must start with "https" because the "s" stands for "secure". We recommend that you look for the lock icon and/or the word “Secure” in the upper left corner of the address bar before providing the account number,
- If the signs above are not present, DO NOT enter the account number because your information is not confidential.
- Don't give out account numbers for online shopping so be wary of sites that ask for one.
Step 3. Monitor your checks and bank statements
Don't leave your checkbook or checking account lying around in your house or car. Instead, open and view the checking account when it arrives, then store it with other documents in a safe place, such as a filing cabinet. Also, keep the checkbook in a safe place. Don't forget to tear up old checks and checking accounts, instead of just recycling or throwing them away, to prevent others from knowing your account information.
Step 4. Monitor your account regularly for fraud
It's important to check checking accounts to keep track of your checking and savings accounts on a regular basis. Make sure all purchases include the correct price. If you notice an unknown purchase, contact your bank immediately for more information.
