Waterproof mascara can be very difficult to remove, because it is designed to be water resistant, so washing your face alone won't be able to remove it. But don't be afraid! Waterproof mascara can be removed quickly and effectively, using both commercial products and natural ingredients.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Using Commercial Products
Step 1. Use eye makeup remover (makeup remover)
There are many products on the market that are specifically designed to remove waterproof mascara. A good eye makeup remover will be able to remove all layers of mascara quickly, safely and effectively. If you often use waterproof mascara, then buy a good eye makeup remover.
- Always use products that are hypoallergenic, even if your skin is not sensitive. The ingredients in hypoallergenic products tend to be safer for your skin.
- Choose well-known brands such as Lancôme, Clarins, Elizabeth Arden, etc. The quality will be better, so it's less likely to irritate your eyes.
Step 2. Use baby shampoo
Baby shampoo can be quite effective at removing waterproof mascara. Baby shampoo is usually safe enough to use around sensitive areas, as most brands of baby shampoo are dye- and fragrance-free, and hypoallergenic.
- Use a very small amount of shampoo, and apply it to your eyelashes. Avoid getting baby shampoo into your eyes.
- Never use regular shampoo, as it will irritate your eyes.
Step 3. Apply cold cream
Use a cold cream like Pond's Cold Cream to remove difficult-to-clean makeup like waterproof mascara. Cold creams are also great for removing makeup all over the face.
- Wash your face with your regular facial cleanser, pat it dry, and then apply cold cream for a deep cooling facial treatment.
- Allow the cream to soak into your skin for a few minutes before wiping it off with a warm washcloth.
Step 4. Avoid using petroleum jelly. Since petroleum jelly is a by-product in the manufacture of fuel oils, it is not an ideal material for use around the eyes.
Use petroleum jelly only as a last resort, and avoid getting it in your eyes
Method 2 of 3: Using Natural Ingredients
Step 1. Remove your eye makeup with olive oil
Since your mascara is "waterproof," use a solvent other than water: oil. The oil will damage your mascara's waterproofing ability, making it easier for it to come off your lashes, without needing to rub or wipe too much.
Pour some olive oil on your finger, and rub your lashes with your index finger and thumb until they are completely coated with the oil. Your mascara should be removed easily
Step 2. Use coconut oil
Coconut oil is a great ingredient for removing layers of your mascara and moisturizing the skin around your eyes at the same time.
Apply coconut oil using a cotton ball and gently sweep it around your eyes
Step 3. Make a solution of water, witch hazel and almond or jojoba oil
This solution has a shelf life of 6 months and will not sting or irritate your eyes.
- Mix 2 tablespoons of witch hazel, 2 tablespoons of jojoba or almond oil, and 2 tablespoons of water in a clean container or water container.
- Shake the solution to make sure it is evenly mixed. Sweep the solution over your eyes with clean fingers, or drop it onto a cotton ball or make-up swab to remove your make-up.
Method 3 of 3: Removing Waterproof Mascara Properly
Step 1. Use a cotton ball, makeup swab, or cotton swab to remove the mascara
When removing waterproof mascara, it's important to use the right ingredients to thoroughly clean the product and prevent irritating your eyes.
You can also use hypoallergenic baby wipes, or a clean, damp face cloth
Step 2. Close your eyes and place a cotton ball at the base of your eyelashes
Right where you are brushing with mascara.
- Once the cotton ball is under your lashes, press gently so that the bottom of your lashes stick with the cotton ball.
- Always clean mascara carefully and gently. If you rub too vigorously, some of your eyelashes may be pulled out, or the skin around your eyes may be irritated. You also run the risk of getting the product into your eyes, which can lead to eye infections.
Step 3. Hold the cotton ball against your eyelashes for 10 - 20 seconds
This allows the makeup remover to start dissolving the mascara.
Step 4. Gently move the cotton ball along your lashes
Avoid pulling your lashes by always "stroking" your lashes in the same direction.
Step 5. Check the result in front of the mirror
If you still have some mascara on your lashes, or if your mascara doesn't come off, continue wiping the bottom of your lashes with a soft cotton ball.
Step 6. Use a cotton swab to remove the mascara from the base of your lashes
Soak an earplug in the makeup remover, and use it to gently "rub" the roots of your lashes from any remaining mascara.
Step 7. Wash your face
Now that you're makeup-free, use a gentle facial cleanser to remove any remaining makeup and oil residue after cleaning with a makeup remover.
Make sure to rinse your face with plenty of lukewarm water
Step 8. Moisturize your face to keep it hydrated
After washing, make sure to apply eye cream or moisturizing cream all over your face, as makeup removers can dry out your skin.
Step 9. Done
Tips
- Buy cotton swabs and cotton buds in bulk, so you always have them at home.
- The oil can irritate your eyes. Instead of applying the oil directly to your lashes, place a small amount of the oil on a tissue or cotton ball and use it to gently wipe off your mascara.
