According to numerology, the numerical digits of a name influence the development of aspects of your personal and professional life. Calculating the numerology of a name can give you information about yourself, and help you understand your friends and family better if you know the number of their name.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Converting Letters in Names to Numbers
Step 1. Write down the alphabet from letters A to Z
Write the entire alphabet in a horizontal line on a piece of paper. Each letter will be assigned a different number. You can also write letters of the alphabet vertically. As long as the letters are written in order and order, you can write them either vertically or horizontally.
Step 2. Assign numbers 1 to 9 to each letter
Start with the letter A. Write the number 1 next to it, then continue the numbering sequentially to the next letter. For example, write the number 2 for the letter B, and 3 for the letter C. After reaching the letter I which is worth 9, repeat the numbering of the letters of the alphabet from number 1.
- Some sources only use the numbers 1 through 8, but there are also numerology names that use numbers up to 9. So make sure to use all nine digits when numbering the letters of the alphabet.
-
Briefly, the letter numbering system would look like this:
- 1– A, J, S
- 2– B, K, T
- 3– C, L, U
- 4– D, M, V
- 5– E, N, W
- 6– F, O, X
- 7– G, P, Y
- 8– H, Q, Z
- 9– I, R
Step 3. Write down your full name
To find out the actual number of the name, you must write down the full name. Your full name can be found on your birth certificate or other official identification document. Don't forget to include your middle name if you have one.
- If your name runs in a family like John Smith II, or there are unique prepositions or insertions in your name, include them all as long as they are part of your full legal name.
- If you've ever officially changed your name, use the new name because that's your current identity.
- You can use nicknames, although it won't give you accurate results.
Step 4. Match each letter in your name with the corresponding number
Once all the letters have numeric numbers, you can start converting the letters in your name to numbers. Write the number that corresponds to each letter in your name below it.
- It doesn't matter if there are letters that repeat themselves.
- For example, if your name is John Jacob Smith, all J's will get 1s, O's will get 6s, H's will get 8s, and so on.
Part 2 of 3: Adding Numbers
Step 1. Add up all the numbers that represent the letters in the name
Add up the numbers in your name using a calculator or pencil and paper. If your name consists of 20 letters, the number to be added is also 20. You will get a value worth tens (2 digits) after adding all of them.
For example, the number in the name BATMAN is 2+1+2+4+1+5, which is 15
Step 2. Simplify the sum of the numbers in the name to 1 number
After adding up all the numbers that represent the name, the resulting value may be in the tens (2 digits), or hundreds (3 digits) if your name is long. To simplify this result, add up the two or three constituent numbers. For example, if the sum of the numbers that represent letters is 25, separate 25 and add 2+5 to 7. This will make your name number 7.
Step 3. Keep the "Master Number" composed of 2 numbers
If you add up the letters in a name and get 11, 22, or 33, don't add up the numbers again. Here are three Master numbers that can complicate but also deepen the personality or numerology topic you are trying to understand or explore. These three numbers have their own personality explanations.
- Master Numbers can be simplified, but only in certain situations. This number can be simplified if it is found in a date or calculation process.
- For example, if the total number of letters in a name results in a Master number, don't simplify it any further. However, if there is a Master number in the calculation, you can simplify 11 to 2 or 33 to 6.
Part 3 of 3: Knowing Your Personality Type
Step 1. Match the digits of your name with the numerological base numbers
Once you know the number in your name, you can look at it in a numerology chart to get to know yourself better. Whether your name was given with numerology in mind or not, knowing the number of your name may provide some information about your personality.
-
The description of each number varies slightly from one source to another, but in general, the main description is the same, namely:
- 1 – Initiator, pioneer, leader, free, hard worker, individualist
- 2 – Easy to work with, adapt, partner, care for others, mediator
- 3 – Expressive, easy to talk, sociable, art and enjoy life
- 4 – Prioritizing principles, order, service, difficult to accept boundaries and established developments
- 5 – Expansive, visionary, adventurous, uses freedom in a constructive way
- 6 – Responsible, protective, caring, sociable, balanced, sympathetic
- 7 – Analytical, understanding, knowledgeable, happy to learn, meditating, mindful
- 8 – Practical endeavor, status oriented, power seeker, goal oriented
- 9 – Caring for others, generous, unselfish, obedient to duty, creative expression
- 11 – High spiritual level, intuitive, enlightened, idealistic, dreamer
- 22 – Builder spirit, hard worker, strong, leader
Step 2. Find out your name's soul, destiny, and number personality
Name numbers are often referred to as life path numbers. There are also other variations that can unlock both your inner desires and your subconscious dreams.
- The soul number describes your likes, dislikes, and deepest desires. Number only the vowels of your first and last name, then add and simplify to find your soul number.
- Personality numbers, or deepest dreams can be known by assigning numbers only to consonants.
- To find the number of fate, you just need to follow the same way to find the number of the name.
- Treat the letters Y and W in particular when distinguishing between vowels and consonants. When Y is used as a vowel and W is paired with a vowel to produce a vowel sound, as in the name "Matthew", they are simply numbered in the soul count calculation.
- On the other hand, if the letters Y and W are used as consonants in the name, you should not give them both numbers in calculating the personality number.
Step 3. Rename to change the number of names
If you are not satisfied with the numeric result of the name, or do not like the name itself, you can always change it. As you get older, you may want to be known or called by a name that better suits your increasingly complex personality. Your name is not written on stone, but only on official documents that can still be changed.
- If you don't want to apply for a name change to the Civil Registry, you can still ask someone else to say your nickname.
- Others may take some time to get used to your new name, but consistently and politely correcting your name calling and signing documents with your new name will help.
- You can even change the spelling of the name to change its numerology. For example, Tamra is 8, but if you write it as Tamara, the result will be 9.
