Slime is a cool thing and fun to play with. However, it will be annoying if it sticks to your carpet. Don't worry, there are several ways to clean dried slime on carpets or rugs according to the cleaning products you have. You just need a little time and follow these few simple steps to make the carpet clean as before.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Clean Up Slime Residue
Step 1. Clean the remaining slime
If there is a large spill of slime on the carpet, clean up as much as possible immediately. Clean with a spoon or scrape with a knife from the outer side to the center.
Step 2. Clean the area with a vacuum cleaner
A vacuum cleaner can help remove any remaining slime so you can clean the stain right away. Clean the slime-affected area by moving the vacuum cleaner repeatedly to suck up as much dry slime as possible. You can use a handheld or a handheld vacuum cleaner.
Make sure the slime is dry when you clean it with the vacuum cleaner so it doesn't clog the vacuum cleaner
Step 3. Choose your cleaning solution
Vinegar, rubbing alcohol, glue remover, natural paint thinner, and WD-40 can all be used to remove slime and stains from carpets. Use whatever you have on hand or buy a cleaning product at the hardware store or supermarket to suit your taste.
Step 4. Put on gloves and test the cleaner
Use gloves to protect your hands from chemicals and slime dyes. Make sure you test the cleaning solution first on an out of sight area of the carpet before using it to clean the stain.
Method 2 of 2: Cleaning Stains
Step 1. Spray the cleaning solution on the carpet
Rubbing alcohol, distilled white vinegar, and WD-40 can be poured or sprayed directly onto the carpet as these products will not damage the carpet underlay. Make sure you wet the area. However, if you are using a natural paint thinner or glue remover, pour the product on the towel first, then press it against the carpet. Use as much as enough to wet the slime and the stain only. This is to prevent the product from wetting the carpet and damaging the base.
Step 2. Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes
The cleaning solution needs to be left on to soften the dried slime and seep into the carpet to remove the stain.
Step 3. Wipe the remaining slime and stains with an old cloth until clean
After 10 to 15 minutes, use an old rag or tissue paper to remove any remaining slime and stains. You don't even have to bother rubbing it. Discard the rag after use.
If there are still stubborn stains left, repeat the process above
Step 4. Rinse the area with hot water
Wet an old towel with hot water and wring it out. Press the towel against the carpet to remove the cleaning solution and any remaining slime on the carpet.
Step 5. Wipe off the remaining liquid and let the carpet dry
Press a dry towel against the carpet to absorb as much liquid as possible. Then, allow the cleaned area to dry completely.
