If you want to get puppies from your pets, every employer should know how to breed their dogs naturally. Often times, you can breed your own dog without artificial insemination or other fertility treatments. Make sure you keep both dogs healthy for the best results. A fit dog will produce healthy offspring too. You can also monitor the female dog's heat period to find out when she is pregnant. When breeding dogs, do not intervene unless necessary. Just let the dog interact and breed at their own pace.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Keeping Dogs Healthy
Step 1. Keep the female dog at an ideal weight
A female dog will find it easier to conceive and give birth safely if she is of a healthy weight. Underweight or overweight female dogs can have problems conceiving and giving birth to children. Ideal body weight will support a healthy pregnancy.
- Discuss the dog's weight with the vet. She can provide feeding advice and exercise routines that will keep the female dog healthy for her age and breed.
- If a female dog is not of ideal weight, it is best to lose or increase her so that she is healthy before breeding her.
Step 2. Provide a balanced diet for both dogs
A healthy dog will be able to breed better. A balanced diet is the key to your pet's health. Provide appropriate amounts of food to promote good dog health.
- Each dog has its own dietary needs, depending on breed and age. Usually, scheduled feeding is better than free meals.
- Provide healthy treats for your dog's good behavior, while controlling his weight. Try giving your dog vegetables and fruit as a snack, such as small carrots, green beans, or bananas and apple slices.
- Fish oil is often used as a dietary supplement for dogs because it prevents various diseases such as kidney disease. Talk to your vet about taking supplements such as fish oil to improve your dog's health.
Step 3. Make sure both dogs exercise regularly
Dogs need exercise to keep them fit. Exercise can maintain the weight of both dogs and increase fertility. Your dog can exercise by walking or playing around the house.
- Large, high-energy dogs require more physical activity than small dogs. Consult with your veterinarian to determine how much exercise your dog needs each day.
- If your dog is very active, it's a good idea to fence off your yard so your dog can run around freely throughout the day.
Step 4. Make sure the male dog is clean and well-groomed
Male dogs should have clean genitals to prevent yeast infections and other complications during breeding. You should also make sure the hair around the dog's genitals is trimmed short and neatly. This will make it easier for him to mate with female dogs and encourage natural breeding.
Part 2 of 3: Paying Attention to Timing
Step 1. Monitor when the dog enters heat
Female dogs have a natural reproductive cycle. You will need to monitor this cycle every month if you want to breed your dog naturally.
- The first day of the female dog's cycle begins when you see blood coming out of the dog's vulva
- You can miss the first day of your dog's oestrus cycle, especially if the blood isn't much. So you might think it's day one of your dog's cycle, but it's actually day three. There are also some other changes that can be noticed, such as changes in behavior that indicate the dog is in heat.
- It can take up to several months to know exactly when the first day of a female dog is in heat. Watch for unusual changes in behavior, energy levels, or eating habits during the approximate time span of the dog's onset of heat to determine an accurate date.
- Try not to breed a female dog in her first oestrus cycle. It's best to wait until your dog is 2 years old before starting to breed. This will give you time to study the heat cycle, determine the average number of days in heat, and identify the signs that indicate a dog is in heat.
Step 2. Count the days of the dog's oestrus cycle
Don't forget to start from the day you find blood on the dog's vulva. The female dog will then be fertile during her cycle and allow the male dog to copulate with her. If you want to breed your dog naturally, allow him to breed during his natural cycle.
Step 3. Breed a female dog on the right day of her cycle
Female dogs are most fertile on days 9, 11, and 13 of their cycle. Male and female dogs must copulate on this day to increase the chances of pregnancy.
Remember, you can mistake the exact first day of a female's oestrus cycle. It's best to meet the male and female dogs before and after the female dog's estimated fertility day
Part 3 of 3: Helping Dog Breeding
Step 1. Try not to feed the dog on the day of the female's fertility
If the male dog feels full, he may not have the energy to have sex. You need to keep your dog as energetic and enthusiastic as possible. Delay feeding the dog until he copulates with the female on her fertility day.
Make sure you feed your dog the day before the day of copulation, as well as when you've finished copulating with the female dog
Step 2. Keep the dog calm
If you want a natural breed, both dogs must remain calm. If your dog is tense or nervous, the two will be reluctant to have sex. If the male and female dogs don't know each other yet, make sure they meet before copulation day. You also need to keep the environment calm.
Choose an area that is not prone to loud noises or other distractions. If the dog seems startled or frightened, breeding may be delayed
Step 3. Meet the two dogs before copulation day
The two dogs will have an easier time copulating if they have met before. This step will ensure that they both like each other.
Step 4. Help the dog if needed
Dogs are able to breed naturally. However, male dogs sometimes don't know what to do, especially if it's their first time having sex. Feel free to direct the dog if needed. Use your hands to guide your dog to the right area when he's trying to fuck a female dog.
Step 5. Give your dog some privacy and don't separate them once copulation has started
Keep your distance and let the male and female dogs breed naturally; don't interrupt or try to separate the two as this can lead to stress or even hurt them. Privacy will also increase the chances of successful breeding.
Some places that are suitable for dogs to copulate because they provide enough privacy include the garage, hut, or basement
Step 6. Be patient
Sometimes it can take some time for the male dog to start fucking the female, especially if he is inexperienced. Don't be upset if your dog doesn't have sex right away. Try not to disturb and let the dog copulate at its own pace.
Step 7. Treat the dog after intercourse
When the two dogs have finished copulating, there are several things you can do to encourage conception (fertilization of seeds). Take care of male and female dogs after both have finished copulating.
- You can keep your female dog in a crate for 30-60 minutes after copulation. It is better to prevent the dog from urinating because it will help the pregnancy.
- Make sure the male dog's penis goes back in after copulation. In most cases, the penis will re-enter naturally after 30 minutes. Otherwise, you can try entering it yourself.
