Wearing makeup is a common thing in everyday life, both for work during the day and formal events at night. But if you are a newcomer to the world of cosmetics, you may be confused by the many variations of makeup and makeup styles available. Luckily it's not that hard to learn what the common makeup products are, and how to use them.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Preparing the Face
Step 1. Remove the applied makeup
If you want to wear makeup, start with a cleansed face. For that, first remove the makeup that is still attached to your face because you overslept last night, or wipe off the makeup you just used. If you apply makeup to add to the makeup you're already wearing (not to put makeup on,) the makeup on your face will look very thick and unnatural compared to makeup on clean skin. You can remove all the makeup on your face using a good quality makeup remover or a gentle oil to treat baby's skin.
You should always remove your makeup at night; Sleeping with makeup on can clog your pores and cause pimples and wrinkles on your face
Step 2. Wash your face
For the same reason you should remove the makeup you're already wearing, you should also wash your face; Leaving oil and sweat on your face will make your makeup look shiny and thick after a few hours. Gently rub in a gentle facial cleanser for about a minute to clean your face as well as to remove bacteria from deep pores and remove dead skin from your face. After that, apply a facial moisturizer. Dry skin usually needs a little moisturizer before starting to apply makeup.
Step 3. Use the product to cover blemishes
The benefit of a blemish-covering product is to even out skin tone due to acne or to disguise dark circles under the eyes. Use a special brush to camouflage blemishes or your (clean) fingers to cover the lower eyelids, redness of the skin, and disguise any pimples or black spots. Smooth the edges of your stain mask so that the color doesn't look different on your face.
Step 4. Apply foundation
There are several kinds of foundation, but in general the way to use it is the same. Liquid foundations, creams, and powders all work to create an even color across your facial skin and even out the color of the blemishes you've used. Use a brush to spread the foundation all over the face, neck and eyelids if needed. You should use a foundation that matches the color of your skin, not older or younger. This foundation should also be used on top of the stain mask for the color to blend.
- You can use a brush to cover blemishes when you add foundation to cover stubborn pimples.
- You can apply liquid foundation with your fingertips, although this can carry bacteria on your skin and cause problems later on.
Step 5. Decide on the foundation you want to apply
You don't have to do this step, but if you want your makeup to last, you can use loose powder to keep your foundation and blemish-covering looking neat. Use a brush with a large, fluffy tip to apply loose powder that is neutral in color or matches your skin tone. This step is very necessary or will be useful if you use liquid foundation because it will keep your foundation looking neat and prevent your face from looking shiny.
Step 6. Apply the product to brighten the face
After you finish applying foundation, your face will look like it has no curves and is flat because of the even color. To bring out the curves, you need to create the illusion of light and shadows in certain areas. Use cream or a lightening product to lighten your face to make areas that are too sunken appear lighter: in the corners of your eyes, under your eyebrows, in the center of the curve of your upper lip, and above/beside your cheekbones. This will make your face look brighter and more vibrant than before.
- Make a '3' shape starting from your cheekbones, to your eyebrows, then to your forehead to make your face look brighter.
- You can use your fingers or a small brush to apply this face lightening product.
Step 7. Contour the face by using makeup to contour the face
Contrary to the function of lightening products, contouring the face is done by applying a powder that will cast a slightly darker shade than your actual skin tone (as opposed to bronzer) on the part of your face that you want to hide. The areas on your face that you need to apply contour make up are under your cheekbones in the curve of your cheeks, and next to your nose. This will make your face look thinner and longer, and create the shadows that naturally appear when you're not wearing foundation.
Step 8. Apply blush
The final step in applying makeup is to apply blush on your cheeks. Usually there is already a little color on everyone's cheeks, but the color varies. Apply blush with a large brush on your apple-shaped cheeks (the rounded part of your cheeks when you smile.) Don't apply too much blush, just enough to enhance the existing natural color of your cheeks.
Step 9. Apply your eyebrows
This step is an option depending on the thickness of your eyebrows, but eyebrow makeup is usually recommended for those with thin or sparse brows. Choose an eyebrow pencil or powder color that is closest to your natural brow color. Start by contouring your eyebrows, then color in the center. Make small lines that look like your eyebrow hair, adjusting their direction to the direction of your eyebrow hair growing.
Part 2 of 3: Wearing Eye Makeup
Step 1. Apply basic eye makeup
This step is also an option, but using basic eye makeup will make your eyeshadow last longer. If you don't wear it, your eye shadow may fade or become greasy and build up in the creases of your eyelids after a few hours. Use your fingertips to apply base makeup for the eyes, blending from the root of your lashes to the top of your eyelid crease.
Step 2. Apply eye shadow
There are many different ways to apply eyeshadow, although the most basic and classic way is to apply just one color all over your lids. Use an eye shadow brush to apply the eyeshadow on your lids, starting at the center near your lash line and blending outwards. Blur your eyeshadow to match your natural skin tone near your crease, the inner and outer corners of your eyes to prevent overly defined lines from forming. If you want more dramatic eye makeup, apply a second, darker shade to the 'C' shape of the eye starting at the outer corner of the eye near the lash line and working your way up, the width of your eyelid.
- Your eye shadow shouldn't go all the way up to your brows, and shouldn't extend beyond your eyelids beyond the outer ends of your brows (unless you want a more dramatic look).
- You can blend your eyeshadow a little lower, as long as it's not lower than the lashes on your lower eyelid.
- If you wear multiple shades of eyeshadow, these colors should always be blended.
Step 3. Use an eyeliner or eyeliner
The function of eyeliner is to form the lash line to make it look full; therefore, choose an eyeliner color that matches your natural eyelash color (or brown if you have blonde hair) to match your eyelash color. For a not too neat appearance, you can use an eyeliner pencil, or for a neat and smooth appearance use an eyeliner that is cream or liquid. Draw a line or dots following the shape of your lash line, then connect these dots to form a line. You can shape the wing by pulling the tip slightly upward if you wish, or you can simply draw a line following the shape of your lash line from the inner corner of the eye to the outer corner of the eye.
- Makeup that forms an eye line on the lower eyelid is usually used only on special occasions, because this makeup will make your appearance much darker / bold and looks very unnatural when only compared to the upper lash line.
- If you feel comfortable, try wearing eyeliner on the inside of your eyelids.
Step 4. Finish by applying mascara
To complete your eye makeup, apply a little mascara to beautify your eyes. There are several types of mascara you can choose from depending on the look you want; if your eyelashes are short, use mascara that can make your lashes longer, or if your lashes are thin, use mascara that can make your lashes thicker. Insert the mascara brush and then wipe off the excess mascara on the rim of the mascara bottle or use a tissue paper. Looking down, apply mascara to the top of the lashes by pulling the brush outwards. Do it for both eyes, two coats each, then let it dry.
- Shake the brush when you apply mascara, because this method will also coat between the eyelashes in addition to the bottom surface.
- Never pump your mascara brush in and out of the bottle, as this will create air pockets.
- You can apply a coat of mascara to your lower lashes, but this can make your eyes look darker which most people avoid.
- Do not apply more than two coats of mascara because this will remove the natural dark impression and will look thick and stiff which is not natural.
- A great tip for making your lashes look thicker is to apply some baby powder before applying the second mascara; This method will make the eyelashes longer and thicker.
Part 3 of 3: Coloring the Lips
Step 1. Soften your lips
Use lip balm, lip base, or lip liner. This will make your lip makeup last longer and shinier. After all, who doesn't want soft lips? A good moisturizer or lip gloss will prevent your lips from peeling as a result of applying lipstick and gloss to make them look shiny.
Step 2. Use a lip contouring pencil
Draw a line on your lips with a pencil that matches the color of your lips. Sharpen this pencil and then draw a line around your lips in a natural shape. Once the outline is complete, move on to coloring your lips. Besides being useful for coloring and shaping the texture of your lips, this will also make it easier to apply lip gloss and lipstick afterwards.
Step 3. Apply lipstick or lip gloss with a brush
Choose the lipstick or lip gloss you want to use after using the lip pencil; To make it look natural, use lipstick colors that are similar to your lip color, or choose bright colors for a bolder look. Start at the center of your lips, then blend the color outwards. Make sure you apply the lipstick as close to the tip of your lips as possible but don't go past your lip line. To prevent lipstick from sticking to your teeth, put your index finger in your mouth and then quickly pull it out again; the excess color of the lipstick will stick to your finger and won't transfer to your teeth.
Step 4. Prepare your appearance
Once you're done with your lip makeup, your look is ready! Pay close attention to your overall makeup to make sure there's no sloppy or overdone eye makeup with a thick brush. If there is makeup that needs fixing, remove it with a cotton swab soaked in the liquid to remove the makeup.
Tips
- For best results, wear makeup with bright and natural lighting.
- Don't tug at the bottom of your eye. This will cause eye bags and wrinkles for the rest of your life.
- How much and what kind of makeup you want to wear is entirely up to you. You know your face better than anyone else-you're free to experiment. Makeup, literally, is the art of painting faces. By experimenting, you can find the makeup that works best for you.
- Focus on one or at most two parts of your face. Don't use a bright lipstick color with a bold eye line and a bright blush. It's better if you focus on eye and lip makeup, or apply blush/skin. Wear simple makeup; Do not exaggerate.
- Always wear a foundation that contains at least SPF 15. If your foundation doesn't contain sun protection, use this sunscreen separately before you start applying your regular makeup. Sun protection will keep your skin looking healthy and reduce the chances of wrinkles. Look for oil-free ones to prevent breakouts. The smell won't be too strong either. In addition, the color of your makeup can change (darker) and also can not blend in with your skin tone.
- Notice the difference between makeup for the day, evening, and special occasions. Makeup for the day is usually light and uses neutral colors. Makeup for the evening usually uses bolder colors but not too heavy or bold. Make-up for special occasions usually requires false eyelashes, liquid eyeliner, and products that make the lower part of the eyes look brighter – you can see in award-giving magazines.
- Make your makeup look natural so you don't look like someone who is trying to get attention.
- To even out skin tone, dab a little loose powder or foundation on your neck and edges of your face. This will avoid showing lines in your makeup. Apply blush after your eye makeup is done. This will prevent excessive use of blush.
- Use a slightly yellowish or light-colored stain mask to make your face look brighter.
- Quality is always better than quantity. If you have IDR 500,000,00 to buy your full face makeup product, don't buy 10 cheap products, but buy 4 good quality products (IDR 200,000, 00 for foundation, IDR 100,000, 00 for mascara, IDR 100.000, 00 for blush, and Rp. 100,000, 00 for lipstick.)
- Use Visine before applying eye makeup to make your eyes whiter, brighter and more vibrant. It will also keep your eyes moisturized throughout the day and prevent dryness from wearing makeup.
- When you apply lip gloss or lipstick, you should apply it with your finger or use a thin brush. This will prevent lumps from forming.
- Natural makeup products are sold under the brands Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and Laura Mercier. This makeup will show your unique natural beauty.
- Put on eye makeup before you put on mascara because if you put on new mascara eye makeup, the eye shadow will get stuck in your eyelashes.
- Before you leave the house, be sure to take another quick look in the mirror!
- The brushes that you normally use should always be washed.
- Foundation and concealer should always be blended on your skin. The result will look better.
Warning
- Make sure that the color of the foundation you use matches your skin tone. There's nothing worse than a mismatched or cheesy foundation color.
- Wash your brushes with anti-bacterial soap, and replace or wash the foam to apply makeup regularly (every week or two.) Bacteria and oil will collect here and can cause problems later on. Try not to use foam, because foam is usually a lot of bacteria.
