Flickr is very popular with photographers because it can be used as a dynamic social community and provides various options for sharing photos. However, you can find it difficult to download photos because Flickr provides a lot of features. Luckily, downloading photos from Flickr is actually quite easy once you know the tips. To do this, you'll need to use a computer as apps on mobile devices can't handle it.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Downloading Photos from Your Own Photostream
Step 1. Log in to your Flickr account
Open the Flickr site using a web browser and log in with your username and password.
Step 2. Select the photos you want to download
You can get photos in two ways:
- Click " Camera Roll " to view all photos. Click a photo to add it to the photo stack to download (shown at the bottom of the screen). You can add all photos to the download stack by clicking "Select All" next to the date the photos were added.
- If you have a photo saved in a Flickr album and want to download the entire contents, click " Albums ", then select the album you want to download.
Step 3. Click the "Download" button at the bottom
All photos that you have added to the download stack will be downloaded. A pop-up message will appear (the text will depend on the number of photos you selected):
- If you select a photo, the message will say "Download 1 photo". Select a save location on your computer by clicking on the message box. The photo you selected will start downloading.
- If you select multiple photos (or all albums), the message will say " Download zip ". Click the message to create a zip file, then specify the folder you want to use to save the zip file. When the download is complete, look for your zip file.
- Windows users, double-click the zip file, then click " Extract " to extract (unzip) the zip file containing the photo.
- Mac users, double click the zip file to extract the photos into the currently open folder.
Method 2 of 3: Downloading Photos from Someone Else's Photostream
Step 1. Open the Flickr photo you want to download
Not everyone allows their photos to be downloaded. Photos that can be downloaded can be identified by an arrow pointing down at the bottom right of the photo.
Step 2. Click the arrow to display the photo size options
A short list of downloadable photo sizes will be displayed. If you want to display a more complete list, click " View all sizes ".
- The higher the resolution, the larger the photo size.
- If the list doesn't show a higher resolution, the photo may be small, or the owner didn't share all photo sizes.
Step 3. Click the desired photo size, then click the Download link
This link will say something like "Download the Large 1024 size of this photo". The text that appears will depend on the size of the photo you selected.
Step 4. Choose where to save your photos
Select the desired folder, then click the "Save" button to download the photo.
