This wikiHow teaches you how to use the Telegram search tool to search for a specific word in a channel, and how to find a new channel you want to follow.

Method 1 of 2: Performing a Search within the Channel
Step 1. Run Telegram
The icon is a blue circle with a white paper airplane in the center. These apps are usually in the app drawer or home screen.
Step 2. Touch the channel you want to search
The contents of the channel will be displayed.
Step 3. Touch
You can find it in the top right corner.
Step 4. Touch Search
The bar at the top of the screen will change to the Search field.
Step 5. Type in the word you want to search for, then touch the button shaped like a magnifying glass
This button (on the keyboard) is usually in the lower right corner.
Step 6. Check the highlighted words in each post
Scroll the channel screen up and down to find the word you are looking for. All words will be highlighted in an easy-to-read color.
Method 2 of 2: Searching for Channels
Step 1. Run Telegram

Step 2. Touch the magnifying glass shaped icon
It's in the top-right corner.
Step 3. Type in the name of the channel you want to search for
As you type, a list of search results will be displayed.
If you're not looking for a specific channel, just type in a word that can bring up something that fits your topic (e.g. guitar, gamer, or vegetarian)
Step 4. Select the channel shown in the search results
Doing so will display the channel description.
Before joining, you can preview the channel by touching Instant View or Open Channel.
Step 5. Join the channel by clicking Join
After joining, you will be added to channel members.
