If you left your keys in your car and your car is locked, then you want to open the car with professional help, this can be a hassle and quite expensive. Hundreds of thousands of rupiah for a five-minute job? Oh my gosh.. It's not a very difficult job to open a car with an automatic, manual key, or maybe even enter through the trunk. All these ways are easy and available for you to learn. Don't break the glass to open your car.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Electric/Auto Unlock
Step 1. Find the tools you need
The basic way to open a door with an automatic lock without damaging it is to open a small gap in the door and use a long handle to push the lock button. It looks harsh, but this is what a locksmith will do if you call him. Doing it yourself will save hundreds of thousands of dollars out of your wallet for this five minute job. To do this, you will need a wedge and a long stalk shape. Possibilities include:
- Best wedge it could be a kape knife or a doorknob, the thinner the better. Ideally, you only need a gap as wide as the thickness of the long stalk you are using. Locksmiths use balloons to pump air and create gaps.
- Best stalk it could be a car antenna or a clothes hanger made of wire. Consider folding it in half to make it more firm and easier to control when you push it to press the lock button. Other devices that are small enough to fit into the gaps between windows will also work.
Step 2. Pinch until the door is slightly ajar
Place a door wedge or similar device in the gap. Slide the wedge firmly into the gap between the door and the car using your hand.
If you're afraid of damaging the car's paint, wrap the block or stem in a cloth or similar before starting to pry
Step 3. Tuck in the long stalk
A jammed door will create a gap where you can fit the long stem through it. Navigate to the lock button.
Step 4. Press the button until it opens
Press firmly with a long stem. You may need to do a few tries, but after this you will be successful in unlocking the car. Open the door and take your car keys.
Method 2 of 3: Manual Unlock
Step 1. Pry the lock button with a wire hanger
The biggest difference when you open the door with a manual key is that you have to pull the button up to open it. Follow the same instructions to open the door gap, but you have to be careful and pull the lock button (not push) to open it.
Pulling the lock button is much more difficult than pressing the auto lock button. You have to hook the tool you are using on the button head and then drag it. It will take a few tries before you succeed
Step 2. Try using slim jim, or make your own
Slim jim is a tool to help us to open a locked door, which is usually used by the police to open the door with a manual key. How to use it is to slip it in the gap between the window and door, then pull the lock pin from the inside, upwards. If you have a slim jim, this can be done easily.
- Make your own slim jim by straightening a clothes hanger out of wire, but leaving the ends of the hangers in their original shape. You may need pliers to straighten it, then fold it in half to make it stronger.
- Note that this method is not recommended for cars with automatic windows and locks. This car has a lot of wires inside the doors, which may be damaged during this process.
Step 3. Select the passenger side door
Usually the inside of the passenger door doesn't have too many wires, compared to the driver's side door, making it easier for you.
Step 4. Slip your tools
Look at the rubber coating that extends into the gap between the door and the window pane at the bottom. The lock mechanism is usually in a position parallel to the keyhole, but on the inside of the door.
With your finger, slightly lift the black rubber layer to create a gap between the door and window. Insert the hanger with the hook-shaped part first
Step 5. Lower the tool
You should be able to lower the tool a few inches through this gap without interruption, and you should feel a pin on the inside of the door.
If you can look at the car's manual, you may be able to estimate the position of the lock pins and how to access them. If you fumble around inside the door, you could damage the wiring system inside. Make sure first where the position of the lock pin
Step 6. Locate the lock pin position
Slide the hanger around the inside of the gap, until you feel a small pin. This pin can be pulled to unlock the door. Usually, the position is about 5 cm from the bottom of the window pane, near the door lever on the inside.
Step 7. Gently pull the pin back
Once you find the pin, hook it up and gently pull it off. If successful, you will feel that the lock has been opened. Once the lock is unlocked, carefully lift the hanger back up, open the door, and take the key.
Method 3 of 3: Check in via Luggage
Step 1. Look for an emergency lever or wire to open the trunk inward
If your trunk is open but the car door is locked, open the trunk and look for an emergency trunk release lever or wire. Usually this lever or wire is located on the inside of the trunk "door".
Step 2. Pull the lever/wire
Once you find the lever/wire, pull it. This will push the rear seats up to fold forward for some car models, which is a common feature on sedans.
Step 3. Crawl into the car cabin
Once the rear seat is folded, push the seat forward, and enter the car cabin through this gap, then unlock the door from the inside.
Tips
- Be careful not to damage the paint on your car when prying the keys.
- Before you try it yourself, consider calling a locksmith or emergency help, who can open the lock with a slim jim.
