You can sign up for a Netflix account via the Netflix website, the Netflix mobile app, or the Netflix channel on your TV streaming device. Most streaming devices (e.g. Roku) will require registration for a Netflix account on the website, while some (e.g. Apple TV) will directly guide you through the registration process on the TV. Method 1 of 3: Registering a Netflix Account on the Website
Step 1. Go to www.netflix.com/id/ using a browser
Regardless of the device used, registration can be done at Netflix.com. You can even get a one-month membership trial period when you sign up for the first time.
- Even if this trial is free, you'll still need a credit card or another payment method, such as PayPal or a Netflix prepaid card.
- Payment will not be charged if you cancel your membership before the end of the trial period. You'll receive an email a few days before your trial expires so there's a chance to cancel it.
Step 2. Click the “Join Free for a Month” button
Now, you will be redirected to a series of screens that take you through the registration process
Step 3. Click “See the Plans” to view your options
The names of the membership types will be displayed, along with a brief description and price.
Step 4. Select the desired membership type, then click “Continue” (Continue)
Netflix has three service options to choose from:
- Basic: This inexpensive option lets you watch Netflix on one device. Select this option if your account will not be shared with anyone. HD (High Definition or High Definition) video is not included.
- Standard: You will get HD quality video on up to two devices. If you share your password with other people, both of you can watch high quality videos at the same time.
- Premium: This option allows up to 4 people to watch different shows at the same time. Ultra HD is a level above normal HD and perfect for 4k resolution screens.
Step 5. Create a new account
Enter your new email address and password into the fields provided, then click “Continue.”
Step 6. Select a payment option
The available options will be displayed on the screen.
- Netflix accepts almost all credit and debit cards with the Visa, Mastercard, Amex or Discover logo.
- In the United States and some other countries, you can create a PayPal account to sign up for a Netflix account. PayPal allows you to pay online using a bank account, as well as a credit card.
- If you don't have a credit card or PayPal, use a Netflix gift card in various areas. You can find them at many retail stores that sell these cards and charge them with cash.
Step 7. Enter payment details
Follow the instructions to enter your payment details (or PayPal login information).
Step 8. Start your Netflix membership
Click “Start Membership” to finish creating your account. Now, you can browse and watch movies and television shows from a variety of compatible devices.
Method 2 of 3: Registering a Netflix Account Via Android or iOS App
Step 1. Launch Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) on your device
To start creating a Netflix account, you need to install the Netflix app on your phone or tablet. You will get a free membership trial period for one month when you first sign up.
- You'll need to provide a payment method, such as a credit card, PayPal, or Netflix prepaid card to sign up for membership.
- Payment will not be charged if membership is canceled before the trial period expires. You'll receive a warning email a few days before your trial expires.
Step 2. Search for the Netflix app
Type “Netflix” into the search field and tap the magnifying glass icon.
Step 3. Tap on the Netflix app when the search results are displayed
The Netflix app is published by Netflix, INC and can be downloaded for free.
Step 4. Tap “Install l” (Install)
The application will be installed on your Android.
Step 5. Launch the Netflix app
The application will open and display a message regarding the registration of a new account.
Step 6. Tap the “Join Free for a Month” button
Now, you will see three service options to choose from:

Method 3 of 3: Registering a Netflix Account on Roku
Step 1. Go to the Roku home screen
If a Roku device is attached to your television, you can use it to stream movies and other content from Netflix. When your Roku starts running, you'll be taken directly to the main screen.
Step 2. Select “Netflix” on the main screen
If you don't have Netflix, here's how to bring it up:
- Select “Streaming Channel” or “Channel Store” on Roku 1 from the left menu.
- Select “Movies & TV” (Movies and Television Shows).
- Select Netflix, and then select “Add Channel” (Add Channel).
Step 3. Sign up for a Netflix account
Roku recommends that you sign up for a Netflix account via www.netflix.com/id/ in a web browser. Follow the steps here before proceeding with this method.
Step 4. Sign in to Netflix on Roku
Once you have an account, select “Sign In” and enter your new username and password. If you're signed in, you'll have access to tons of movies and television shows. If you are using Rokus 1, follow these steps:
- Opening Netflix will display a screen that says “Are You a Member of Netflix?” (Are you a Netflix Member?) Select “Yes” to open the passcode.
- Open your computer's browser and go to www.netflix.com/activate.
- Enter the activation code on the screen. When you return to your Roku, Netflix is unlimited.
