This wikiHow teaches you how to leave a “Family Sharing” group on an iPhone, iPad, or MacOS computer. Once a member leaves or is removed from a group, he or she can no longer access shared files and accounts, including photos, music, and subscribed content.

Method 1 of 2: On iPhone or iPad
Step 1. Open the iPhone iPad settings menu (“Settings”)
You can find this menu on the home screen. If you are 13 or older, you can remove yourself from the family group. If you are the group manager, you can remove other members as needed.
- If you are the group manager, you cannot leave the group without disbanding all members of the group.
- You cannot remove members under the age of 13 from a group. You need to move the member to another group. Contact the manager of another group and ask him to invite the child member to his group.
Step 2. Touch your name
The name appears at the top of the menu.
If your phone or tablet is running iOS 10.2 or earlier, touch “ iCloud ”.
Step 3. Touch Family Sharing
If the device is running iOS 10.2 or earlier, select “ Family ”.
Step 4. Select the user you want to delete
If you want to leave the group yourself, tap your own name. Otherwise, touch the name of the family member you want to remove from the group.
Step 5. Touch Leave Family
You will leave the family group. If you want to delete another user, touch “ Remove (username) ” at the bottom of the screen.
If you are the manager of the group and want to disband it, touch “ Leave Family Sharing… ” at the bottom of the screen, then confirm the changes.
Method 2 of 2: On MacOS Computer
Step 1. Click menu
It's in the top-left corner of the screen. As long as you are 13 years old or older, you can remove yourself from the family group. If you are the group manager, you can also remove other members as needed.
If you are the group manager, you cannot leave the group without disbanding all members of the group
Step 2. Click System Preferences
Step 3. Click iCloud
Step 4. Click Manage Family
Now, you can see a list of the users who have been added to the family group. If you haven't set up a family group, click Set Up Family.
Step 5. Click your name
If you are the group manager and want to remove other users from the group, click the corresponding username.
Step 6. Click the minus sign (-)
It's in the lower-left corner of the family list. A confirmation message will be displayed.
If you are the manager of a group and want to disband it, click “ Stop Family Sharing ”.
Step 7. Click Remove
You (or the selected user, if you are the group manager) are now no longer a member of the family group.
