This wikiHow teaches you how to delete or mute group message conversation notifications. Deleting a conversation is the only way to leave a group message, but if you receive a new message in the same group, the file will reappear in your inbox.

Method 1 of 2: Deleting Group Messages
Step 1. Open the Messages app on the Android device
Find and tap the icon
on the application menu to open Messages.
Step 2. Tap the group you want to leave
Find the group message file that you want to delete in the recent messages list, then open the message.
Step 3. Tap the button
It's in the upper-right corner of the message conversation. This will open a drop-down menu.
Step 4. Tap Delete on the menu
This option will delete the selected group conversation and remove it from the Messages app.
If you are asked to confirm the steps taken, tap OK to approve it and delete the group.
Method 2 of 2: Mute Group Message Notifications
Step 1. Open the messaging app on the Android device
Find and tap the icon
on the Applications menu to open Messages.
Step 2. Tap the group you want to leave
Find the group message file that you want to delete in the recent messages list, then open it.
Step 3. Tap the button on the top right side
This will open a drop-down menu.
Step 4. Tap the People & options button on the menu
This will open the message settings for the selected conversation.
Step 5. Swipe the Notifications button Becomes
This will disable all message notifications and group members in the selected message file.
You will not receive any game, light or sound notifications from the group
Tips
- If you've deleted and someone messaged the same group again, you'll still receive notifications along with incoming messages.
- If you just don't want notifications from the group, turn off notifications and wait for group members to stop sending messages before deleting the group files.
