Shoe insoles can get dirty over time, especially if you wear them often. You may notice an unpleasant odor or see stains and dirt sticking to the sole of the sole. You can clean the soleplate with warm water and soap or vinegar and water. You can also use baking soda, drying sheets, or shoe deodorizing spray. After the sole upholstery is clean, keep it in a fresh condition.
Step
Method 1 of 4: Using Warm Water and Soap
Step 1. Fill a basin with warm water
You can also fill the sink basin with water. Use a few cups of water or just enough to scrub and clean the sole area.
Step 2. Add soap or liquid detergent
Pour a few drops of liquid detergent into the water. You can also use liquid soap if you don't have detergent.
Step 3. Use a soft-bristled brush to scrub the soles
You can also use a clean cloth to scrub the soles. Gently scrub the soiled area to remove stains and dust.
If the soles of your shoes are leather, use a cloth dipped in a mixture of soap and water to clean them. Do not let the soles get too wet because it can make the leather material wrinkle
Step 4. Rinse the sole upholstery
After cleaning, use a damp sponge or other clean cloth to remove any soap residue on the sole.
Step 5. Leave the sole plate overnight to dry
Place the soleplate in a towel overnight to dry. You can also place the soleplate on a dish rack or clip it on a clothesline to dry it.
Make sure the sole is completely dry before putting it back into the shoe
Method 2 of 4: Disinfecting with Vinegar and Water
Step 1. Mix vinegar and water in equal ratio
Vinegar is a great deodorant for soles, especially if the smell is very strong. Vinegar can kill bacteria and germs. Mix white vinegar and warm water in a 1:1 ratio in a large bowl or sink.
Step 2. Soak the sole in the mixture
Place the soleplate in the vinegar and water mixture. Soak the sole for at least 3 hours.
You can add an essential oil, such as tea tree oil or pine oil, to the mix if the soleplate smells really bad. Add a few drops of essential oil to the mixture, then use it to soak your soles
Step 3. Rinse the sole until it's clean
After soaking the soles in the vinegar and water solution, remove them and rinse them under running water. Be sure to rinse off all of the vinegar and water remaining on the sole.
Step 4. Leave the sole plate overnight to dry
Place the soleplate in a towel overnight to dry. You can also place the soleplate on a dish rack or clip it to a clothesline.
Method 3 of 4: Applying Baking Soda, Dryer Sheets, and Shoe Cleaning Spray
Step 1. Use baking soda to neutralize bad odors and kill bacteria
Put a teaspoon or two of baking soda in a plastic bag. After that, put the sole mat in the bag, then shake it. Make sure the baking soda gets all over the sole of the sole.
Leave the sole in a plastic bag overnight. After that, remove it from the bag and use a clean cloth to wipe off any remaining baking soda
Step 2. Reduce bad odors with dryer sheets
Leave the sole of the shoe inside the shoe. Then, cut a dryer sheet in half and tuck it inside your shoe. Leave the dryer sheet in the shoe overnight to absorb odors on the shoe and sole upholstery.
This is a great way to get rid of bad odors quickly when you're in a hurry
Step 3. Clean the sole with a shoe cleaning spray
You can remove the sole from the shoe before spraying the cleaning fluid, or leave it in the shoe. Shoe cleaning sprays can be purchased online or at your nearest shoe store.
Most shoe cleaning sprays contain antibacterial agents. These products usually dry very quickly and leave no stains
Method 4 of 4: Caring for the Insoles
Step 1. Clean the soles regularly
Get into the habit of cleaning the soles of your shoes once a week or twice a month. Clean the sole of the shoe that you use often so that dirt and unpleasant odors don't appear.
You can spend a day out of a month cleaning the soles of your entire shoe
Step 2. Wear socks when wearing shoes
To reduce odors and stains on the soles, wear socks every time you put on your shoes. Socks are useful for absorbing sweat and stains so they don't accumulate on the soles of shoes.
You should also take turns wearing shoes so you don't wear the same shoes all the time. That way, the sole of one of your shoes won't be too worn or smell bad
Step 3. Replace old shoe soles
If you feel that the sole of the shoe is starting to wear out, replace it with a new one. Most shoes can be fitted with a sole that you can buy online or at your local shoe store. Do this to shoes that you often wear to keep the soles of the soles nice and clean.
