Shoemaker Nike makes a lot of dynamic sneakers, the limited production of which has made them the target of collectors. A pair of Nike "Mags" was valued at around $1,000 at auction in 2017. If you want to check if your Nike shoes can cost a fortune or are just looking for a replacement, you can look up the model number on the label on the shoe. In addition, you can also find out the model number on the internet.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Finding Out the Model Number at Home
Step 1. Look for the label inside the shoe
All genuine Nike shoes have a label sewn on the inside of the shoe containing information on the size, bar code, and model number. You can identify it easily from the existing bar code. Look for this label at:
- shoe tongue
- heel shoes
- shoe pads
Step 2. Look for the model number on the label
The shoe model number is usually located below the shoe size and above the bar code label. Usually, this code contains a six-digit number followed by three other numbers (eg AQ3366--601).
Step 3. Look for the model number in the box if the shoe label is missing
If you still have the original shoe box, this model number will also be printed on the box. Look for this number on the sticker, which provides information on the bar code and shoe size.
Method 2 of 3: Finding the Shoe Model Number in the Sneakers Database
Step 1. Visit the sneakers database
Some Nike shoes are collectibles, creating databases on the internet that can be used to search for shoe models, for example https://solecollector.com/sd/sole-search-sneaker-database. This database will show the model number along with the shoe name and image.
Step 2. Get to know the shoe line
To date, Nike has 25 different shoe lines (including “Air Force One” and “Nike Running”). Usually, this line will appear on the outside of the shoe and will sometimes also feature the name of a well-known athlete, e.g. "Nike LeBron".
Step 3. Look for the shoe line in the database
Enter the shoe line into the collection database to get a photo of each shoe that is in the same line as yours. Usually, these shoes will be labeled with the name of the shoe and the model number. Look through photos of shoes to see shoes that are similar to yours.
Method 3 of 3: Finding the Model Number of the Seller on the Internet
Step 1. Look for shoes like yours at second-hand markets on the internet
Used goods markets such as Lazada or Shopee may be places for sellers to display used goods. If someone sells shoes like yours, they'll also display the model number next to a photo that can be easily identified when you search:
- His name. Nike shoes have unofficial names such as “Sweet Leather Classic” and “Dunk”.
- Year of purchase
- Color
Step 2. Ask the seller for the model number if they don't write it down
Most store sites give potential buyers the option to contact the seller so they can ask questions about the products they sell. If you find a photo of a shoe that looks like yours but doesn't have the number listed, you can message the seller right away. After that, they will give you the information you want to know.
Step 3. Check your model number again
If you think you have found the model number of the shoe, enter the number into a search engine such as Google. If you have correctly identified the model number, the results will show you other shoes that match your model. This means that it can confirm that you have found the correct shoe model number.
