Wasps, in the ecosystem, function to control pests that can damage plants. However, wasps can also become dangerous if they build nests that are too close to housing so that they can harm people and pets. Therefore, it is a simple, inexpensive and eco-friendly way to get rid of wasps roaming around your area.

Keep in mind that you'll need to open them both to change bait and remove wasp carcasses.
Step 4. Prepare the bait
The wasp must actually enter the trap to get the bait, not just the top of the bottle. This can be done before you glue the two bottle sets. There are several types of bait that can be used:
- Meat – Meat is a good choice in spring and winter. At that time, wasps are in the process of making nests and laying eggs, and they need a high protein diet. With this, you can also catch the queen wasp, if the wasps move their nests.
- Dishwashing liquid and water
- Pureed grapes
- Sugar and lemon juice
- Beer
- Sugar and water
- Sugar and vinegar
- 1 tsp liquid detergent, 1 tsp sugar (to lure wasps) and water - the wasps will still die from exposure to detergent even if they get out of the trap
- Sparkling water (eg Coca-Cola) where the soda has disappeared, and it can still be used. Add a few drops of laundry soap to break the surface tension of the soda.
Step 5. Attach the string to the bottle (or make a hole and thread the rope through the hole), and hang it where there are a lot of wasps
- A wasp that has entered the trap will not be able to get out.
- Add petroleum jelly or cooking oil to the edges of the trap to prevent the wasps from getting into the trap hole.
Step 6. Clean wasp traps regularly
Make sure the wasps are dead before the trap is cleared. This is done to prevent wasp stings and also wasps that are still alive from coming back with the colony. To be sure, pour hot, soapy water into a funnel (inverted bottle neck) or wrap the trap in a plastic bag and refrigerate for a few days. Burrow wasp carcasses or dispose of and flush the carcass down the toilet because the wasp's body can release a chemical reaction that can call back the colony.

Tips
- Be careful not to catch bees because bees are an important animal in pollination. This can be done by not placing traps on growing plants, for example on fruiting trees or in flower gardens. Using meat as a trap can prevent bees from getting trapped.
- Wasps love bright colors. You can also apply yellow or orange tape to the top of the wasp fishing trap.
- If using meat as a trap, be aware that chicken will not work properly. Then, also add a little water to the meat so that the meat does not dry out. Raw or rotten meat is much better than fresh meat.
- Use protein-packed bait in early summer, and sweet bait in late summer and fall.
- A jam jar with leftover jam can also be used as a trap. Then, the bottle is filled with water, wrapped in plastic wrap with small holes.
- This method can also be used to repel fruit flies by putting fruit in a bottle.
- It is better to set traps with protective gear on a sunny day as wasps and bees tend to be outside the hive in sunny weather conditions. If you do not have protective equipment, it is better to install traps at night.
- Make sure the bottles are cleaned before setting the trap.
- Wasps (and other insects) will not go wild. On the other hand, wasps are defensive animals against themselves and their nests. If you hit the wasp, it won't come back and sting. If the wasp gets out of the trap, it will not chase to sting. If you are stung, the wasp will immediately feel threatened and immediately protect itself and the nest.
- Make a mixture of water, syrup, Coca-Cola, and beer when catching wasps.
Warning
- Do not place the trap near children or pets.
- This trap is only used to minimize roaming wasps, not to get rid of the wasps completely (unless capturing the queen). The only way to get rid of the wasp completely is to get rid of the nest.
- Be careful when using knives or handling wasps (including dead ones).
