This article will guide you to enable WhatsApp auto download option. This way, WhatsApp will automatically download the images and videos you receive to your gallery or camera roll.

Method 1 of 2: Using Android
Step 1. Tap the white phone icon in the green chat bubble to open WhatsApp
If it's your first time using WhatsApp, you'll need to set it up first
Step 2. Tap the button at the top right corner of the screen
If WhatsApp is showing a conversation, first tap the back button in the top-left corner of the screen
Step 3. Tap the Settings option at the bottom of the menu
Step 4. Tap on Data usage near the bottom of the menu
Step 5. Under the "Media Auto-Download" section of the settings page, tap the When using mobile data option
Step 6. Tap each type of message that you want to download automatically
You can select messages of the following types:
- Photos
- Audio
- Videos
- Documents
- Be careful when downloading large files through carrier networks. Your credit or quota may be sucked.
Step 7. Tap OK in the top right corner of the Media Options window
Step 8. Tap the When connected on Wi-Fi option under “When using mobile data”
Step 9. Tap each type of message that you want to download automatically, as explained in the previous step
Step 10. Tap OK
Step 11. Tap When roaming
This option is the last option in the "Media Auto-download" list.
Step 12. Tap each type of message that you want to download automatically, as explained in the previous step
Be careful downloading media while roaming. You may incur very large fees
Step 13. Tap OK
Now, all the photos or videos that you receive will be automatically downloaded to the Android phone gallery, according to the settings you made.
Method 2 of 2: Using iPhone
Step 1. Tap the white phone icon in the green chat bubble to open WhatsApp
If it's your first time using WhatsApp, you'll need to set it up first
Step 2. Tap the Settings button at the bottom right corner of the screen
If WhatsApp is showing a conversation, first tap the back button in the top-left corner of the screen
Step 3. Tap on Chats option in the middle of the screen
Step 4. Slide the Save Incoming Media button to the "On" position (right)
The button will change color to green. Now all the photos or videos that you receive will be automatically downloaded to the phone gallery.
