Not sure what to do with the hair down there? Luckily, there are a variety of styles and options for you to choose from. Here is a list of possibilities and how to achieve them.
Step
Part 1 of 4: Before Shaving
Step 1. Prepare dry, shave wet
If you only want to cut it and not shave it, do it when your hair is completely dry - this will make it easier to handle. However, if you shave, soak in warm water or take a warm shower for 10 to 15 minutes to reduce irritation to your skin.
Step 2. Clean
Before trimming or shaving, wash your pubic area with soap or bodywash. The presence of bacteria can cause infection if you are cut or hit by a razor.
Step 3. Find a good clamp
The tools you use to treat your pubic hair can make or break it. Avoid using regular-sized scissors, and try these options. Remember, whatever you choose, try to keep the equipment separate for pubic hair care only, to minimize the chance of infection.
- Use nail clippers, which are small and ideal for sensitive maneuvers. If possible, buy a set with blunt ends. You can find them in the nail care section of most drugstores.
- Use a small beard, nose or ear trimmer. Look for one that has a cover that you can place on the blade to achieve a uniform length. You can buy these shavers at most drug stores. Do not use an electric razor with a rotating head, or you may be in pain from the resulting wound.
- Embroidery scissors can also be used. These scissors are like nail clippers, but be careful of the sharp edges.
Step 4. Use a sharp knife
The new disposable knife is the best choice. A dull knife will irritate the skin and cause itchy red bumps. If your pubic hair is long, trim it slightly beforehand. Consider shaving in the direction of hair growth rather than against it; although this takes more time, the irritation caused will also be less severe. Use an odorless shaving cream or gel.
Step 5. Trim in a place that is easy to clean
Do it under the shower, or sit on the toilet. In this way, cleaning is only done by turning on the water or flushing the toilet.
Step 6. Prepare a hand mirror to examine your pubic area
It's difficult to see progress in an area you can't see, so get a small mirror so you can examine it.
Part 2 of 4: Various Styles for Women
Step 1. Choose a faux-natural style
You can do minimal maintenance on your pubic area, without making it look too unnatural. Just trim the hair evenly and leave the original shape. The length you want to leave is up to you, but in the end you will be limited according to the closeness of the skin.
Trim with scissors or an electric trimmer. For an even trim with scissors, consider using a comb and cutting it in the opposite direction (as hairdressers do)
Step 2. Try a bikini-style
This style is a low-intensity look but appropriate for the beach area. Trim your hair evenly, but shave all that remains along the pubic boundaries with your feet (to keep no hair out of your bikini bottoms, thongs, or boy briefs, etc.).
- Trim it thoroughly with scissors or an electric knife to keep your pubic area clean and fit in a bathing suit.
- Remove hair from the edges by shaving it, or by using a depilatory chemical.
Step 3. Try shaped trimming
This method is a fun and sexy style, by shaving the entire area of your pubic hair, except for the part just above the pubic. A bit of hair should be left here to form a set path. Popular shapes usually include a small downward-facing triangle, or a heart.
- Trim the hair thoroughly so that the shape can be seen more clearly.
- Shape the hair over the labia with a razor or wax.
- Remove hair around the labia with a razor, wax, or epilator.
Step 4. Create a landing strip style (a path like an airplane landing strip)
This is a provocative hybrid style. Trim all the hair along the outline of your labia, leaving only a few thin squares along the length of the shave.
- Crop it thoroughly so that this square can be seen more clearly.
- Remove hair along the outline of the pubic area with a manual or electric razor, wax, epilator, or, if you want to be extra careful with your sensitive membranes, a depilatory solution.
- Trim the hair on the landing strip to a uniform length.
Step 5. Choose Brazilian style
This style is a classic movie star style, with the entire pubic area shaved bald.
- Trim the hair to make it easier to handle.
- Get rid of it all by shaving, waxing, or an epilator.
Part 3 of 4: Various Styles for Men
Step 1. Choose a faux-natural style
This is a good option if you only want basic care. Trim the hair evenly, leaving the natural shape. The length you will leave is up to you, but you will ultimately be limited by the distance to the skin.
Trim with scissors or an electric trimmer. For an even trim with scissors, consider using a comb to trim and trim it (as hairdressers do)
Step 2. Try the boy brief style
This style requires a little more maintenance and is equivalent to a bikini-style shave for women. Trim hair evenly and trim anything that grows around the lines of your legs (to keep nothing out of your briefs, Speedo, etc.).
- Trim the hair thoroughly with scissors or an electric razor to keep your area fit while wearing underwear.
- Remove hair from the edges of your pubic area by shaving it or using a depilatory fluid such as Nair or Magic Powder.
Step 3. Go for the lion's mane style
This style is a style that enlarges your genitals. Remove the hair from your testicles and the base of your pubic shaft, but leave the rest all over the place.
Remove hair from all locations except the pubic hair above with a razor or wax. You can trim/trim the rest, but you may also want to leave it alone for maximum effect
Step 4. Create an arrow/landing strip view
Turn attention to your genitals with a real pubic hairline. Leave your entire pubic area bare, except for the arrow pointing down or the thin line above your pubic area.
- Trim it thoroughly so that the arrow/square can be seen more clearly.
- Shape the hair above the pubic shaft with a razor or wax.
- Remove hair from everything except the pubic hair area at the top with a razor or wax.
Step 5. Choose Brazilian style
Shave your entire pubic area.
- Trim beforehand for easy shaving.
- Wax all the hair (the traditional way) or shave it (which will require extra maintenance effort).
Part 4 of 4: Care and Maintenance
Step 1. Apply moisturizer or after-shave cream for a few days after shaving
Use natural moisturizers like aloe vera, egg oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, kokum butter, etc. Good skin care is a must and will reduce discomfort later on. Make sure you choose a perfume-free product; You certainly don't want to irritate your intimate areas with hard fluids. Something that contains vitamin E and/or aloe vera will make you much more comfortable and can speed up recovery time and improve your appearance.
Be aware that shaving and depilation will leave your skin vulnerable to infection. While applying rubbing alcohol will help prevent these infections, it will also burn the skin, especially for women. Use with careful consideration
Step 2. Keep your new style
Getting started is the hardest part - once you've styled your pubic hair to your desired style, maintaining it is fairly easy.
- Maintain the shaved area once every two to three days.
- Trim the hairy areas every week or two.
- Re-wax every four to six weeks.
Tips
- When you are done trimming, splash cold water on all the areas you shaved. The cold water will close the pores, which will reduce irritation after shaving.
- Using your hands to stretch the skin in areas of loose or creased skin can help make the trimming process more comfortable and smooth.
- If you're planning to shave, make sure you rinse the shaving area after each cut, and don't be afraid to change your razor if the one you're using starts to get dull. Pubic hair is thick and will dull the razor quickly.
-
If you want to keep larger areas bare for longer:
- Use depilatory fluid to trim the hair down to the roots. These products (eg Nair and Magic Powder) cause hair loss from the roots. As you can imagine, this liquid is also potent, so it may be problematic for sensitive areas. Consider using this liquid on the periphery of the pubic area, but don't apply it directly to your pubic area. Do a test on a less sensitive part of your skin before using it.
- Use a wax or electric epilator. You can do this yourself or seek professional help, or use an epilator like Epi-Lady; all of these methods will pull the hair from the roots but can cause extreme discomfort, especially if you've never done this before and have sensitive skin.
- After regular use of wax or depilatory devices, regrown hair is believed to be softer and less painful the next time it is removed.
- For permanent results, invest in electrolysis or laser hair removal; these professional treatments are expensive, usually painful, and require several treatments to completely remove all the hair; but will produce a smooth and flawless skin.
- Coconut oil is an amazing body moisturizer, but it can easily clog pores, so don't use it on your pubic hair area.
- Do not apply alcohol to your genitals. Alcohol will dry out the skin and is useless for the type of 'infection' that shaving creates. You just need to change the razor regularly.
Warning
- Always be careful with trimmers, razors, epilators, or anything else you use for self-care. Nerve endings, loose tissue, and blood-filled capillaries can hurt you if you accidentally cut them. Be careful with extras around tender or loose skin, such as on the scrotum or labia minora.
- If you have thick pubic hair and your skin is very sensitive, shaving in this area can result in a very rough surface - even as soon as you do it. A good body lotion will minimize this roughness, and your skin will probably get used to it over time.
