Shaving pubic hair is a sexy trend for more and more men and women, but this activity requires some skill to do well. Whether you're a man or a woman, the process is more or less the same-removing the hair and avoiding irritation. To start cleaning your genitals, let's move on to step 1.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Preparing Pubic Hair for Shave
Step 1. Trim your pubic hair first
The razor is designed for shaving hair that is quite short and will quickly become clogged and dull when used for long hair. To trim the pubic hair, pull the hair gently away from the body and then cut it with small sharp scissors, or preferably with clippers as some of them are equipped with safety. Alternatively, use a "without rotating head" electric scissor-action trimmer (without rotating heads). Trim until you get hair shorter than 0.6 cm.
- If you are new to pubic hairdressing, you may want to keep your pubic hair short for a few days, as this will allow you to get used to the feeling of not having hair in private areas.
- Are you notorious for being careless with your hands and dropping things and stuff? You may need to avoid using scissors on sensitive areas such as the genitals. You'll need to cut your pubic hair very short, so if the thought of cutting here and cutting there scares you a little, opt for an electric trimmer. With this trimmer, the blade will not get too close to the skin but close enough to trim your pubic hair.
Step 2. Soften your hair and hair follicles by taking a hot shower or bath
This will make coarse pubic hair much easier to shave. This may seem like an overkill, but it will make the lengthy process a lot easier to handle.
- You don't have enough time to shower or take a warm bath? Then simply cover your pubic hair area with a warm wet washcloth for about five minutes to get the same effect.
- Experts on how to shave pubic hair will tell you that it's important to exfoliate before and after shaving pubic hair. Although most advice is just to exfoliate after shaving. Exfoliating before shaving will allow all of your hair to align completely outward while removing dead skin, which will allow for a shorter shave and reduce the chances of your skin getting caught or scratched by the razor. So, if you have time, exfoliate your pubic area before lathering the area.
Step 3. Apply foam to avoid irritation
Use an unscented foam, cream or shaving gel to lather your pubic hair. It is recommended that you use a shaving foam or cream designed for shaving pubic hair rather than one designed for facial hair. The two are very different. And as advice has often been heard about shaving pubic hair, Never shave your pubic hair without a lubricant.
- Always test the shaving cream on another part of your body before you start applying it to your pubic hair, as some people have allergic reactions to certain products.
- Just because a product is marketed as a product for women, doesn't mean it can only be used by women. Shaving cream for women is generally gentler than shaving cream for men. In addition, men's shaving creams are often scented, which can cause irritation and a stinging sensation. You certainly don't want to experience it. If you're a man, go undercover and buy women's shaving cream in the store late at night or sneak a peek at your lover/roommate/or sister's shaving cream; he won't notice.
Part 2 of 3: Get the Best Shave
Step 1. Take your razor
Use a new razor. The newer your razor, the better it will work. Hopefully, the razor will have lots of good blades and features and some kind of gel on the sides of the razor to reduce your need for lubricant during shaving. No matter the color, if the razor is sharp with three or more blades, then it will not only be easier for you to use but also safer for your skin.
Don't you want to always buy a new razor? So make sure you always take care of the razors you reuse. Have a razor that's only used for your pubic hair and don't forget to clean it after you're done shaving. But don't leave the razor wet - water can accelerate the corrosion of the blade and make it dull
Step 2. Pull your skin tight
If your skin is loose, you will hurt yourself. Razors can only work well on nearly flat surfaces. Firmly stretch your skin with your free hand and hold it firmly, making it easier for you to see where you need to shave.
Go easy on yourself and start shaving from below your belly button, pulling the skin just above the lathered hairline upwards. How you proceed with the shaving process after that step is up to you. Shaving all the hair off? Making the shape of the number 8? Writing in all caps? You are your own canvas and art follows life after all, but after a few hours of locking yourself in the bathroom and doing elaborate writing on your pubic hair, other people might start to wonder
Step 3. Shave slowly and gently
There are two things to keep in mind here: shaving in the direction of hair growth will prevent irritation and ingrown hairs. While shaving against the direction of hair growth will lead to shorter results. Know these two things and consider your situation. If you have very, very sensitive skin, you'll likely need to keep shaving in the direction your hair is growing, even if doing so will make your pubic hair twice as long as you'd like it to be.
- When it comes to getting a shorter shave, try shaving across the direction of hair growth. For example, if the hair is growing downwards, shave it left or right. Get used to feeling the hair growth instead of trying to see it. Not relying on your eyes will help the whole process go faster.
- Do not overdo it when shaving. Shave an area as much as you need to remove the hair. If you shave one area over and over again, the area is more likely to become inflamed.
- In the early stages of shaving, you may find that shaving your pubic hair two days in a row causes red bumps and/or itching. Skip a few days between each shave until your skin gets used to the changes.
Step 4. Don't forget your buttocks area
If you've ever waxed your hair, you'll know how it feels when you think the therapist has finished pouring hot wax on your pubic area but then tells you to turn around to pour wax on your buttocks. Yes, the therapist will clean the body gaps that you so easily forget. Well, that also applies to this situation, if you want to shave off your pubic hair.
-
Check again once or twice with your free hand. In the mirror it may look like you've cut all your hair, but is it really? If you want to be completely hair free, that means there should be no hair on the top, bottom, inside, outside, back, front and anywhere.
If you want to really shave your pubic hair, be aware that having no pubic hair at all can increase your chances of contracting and spreading one or two sexually transmitted diseases or STDs (namely, Human Papilloma virus and molluscum contagiosum). Although molluscum contagiosum doesn't sound like a common sexually transmitted disease, it's technically an STD
Step 5. Clean the dirt that you produce
If you leave a public bathroom drain full of your pubic hair, you will be ostracized or punished for taking the trash out for weeks or being made fun of by all your roommates. Avoid embarrassing incidents, be polite and clean the room after you shave yourself.
It is easiest to trim pubic hair above the toilet and easiest to trim pubic hair under the bathroom shower when viewed from the side it is easier to clean. Once you're done, inspect your drains, floor, towels and razor. No evidence should be left at the scene
Part 3 of 3: Avoid Reddish and Itchy Skin
Step 1. Exfoliate to keep your skin clean
In addition to straightening your pubic hair and preventing it from growing inwards, exfoliating also removes any dead skin that remains on the surface of the skin after shaving. Gently wash your pubic area with regular body soap. This will help clear out anything that might be clogging your pores and causing ingrown hairs and resulting infection. What's the point of shaving pubic hair if it will only be replaced by little red bumps?
- Here's a tip from the pros: Use a sugar scrub when you exfoliate to make your skin as soft as baby's bottom skin. If you don't have the scrubbing handy, prepare a baking soda paste. This paste will also give the finishing touch to this shaving process.
- If you are a woman, do not let soap pass through your labia. Your vagina is naturally regulated by your body and does not need to be cleaned with anything other than water. In fact, soap often upsets the pH balance (which is naturally low to ward off hostile bacteria), making the vagina more susceptible to infection.
Step 2. Use Egg Oil
Egg oil contains a number of bioactive substances that prevent infection or inflammation and help irritated skin recover faster.
- Gently massage the egg oil into the shaved area twice a day for a week.
- Leave the oil on your skin until your next shower. There is no need to wash it off because the oil is easily absorbed into the skin.
Step 3. Rinse any remaining pubic hair, gently pat the area dry, and apply moisturizer
You can use aloe vera, baby oil, or a moisturizer designed for sensitive areas. Egg oil contains immunoglobulins that can prevent the appearance of rashes due to microabrasion. Avoid using moisturizers that may contain fragrances and dyes.
- Either way, just make sure the moisturizer is unscented and isn't full of irritating perfume. And definitely avoid men's aftershave-which will only give you a burning feeling. When used on the face alone can be so painful, imagine if you use it on your genitals.
- Bag Balm is the best moisturizer ever. This balm is available at Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreen and at any supermarket in the United States. Bag Balm works like Carmex, but it's for your whole body.
- Baby oil can degrade the quality of latex condoms. So if you plan to have sex afterwards, use another moisturizer.
Step 4. Be careful if you powder your pubic area
The powder absorbs sweat and oil around the pubic area, which can reduce irritation and bumps. However, giving the powder should be done with extra care so that the powder does not touch the sensitive areas of the vagina or penis. Also, you should avoid smothering your skin, which can clog your pores and encourage breakouts.
Women should not apply talcum powder to their pubic area, as this is associated with an increased risk of ovarian cancer. In fact, talcum powder is no longer used as a dry lubricant in surgical gloves because talc is believed to be toxic when applied to mucosal tissue
Step 5. Clean your pubic area with tweezers
Even the most experienced barbers and expensive razors will miss a strand or two of hair everywhere. Take the tweezers and continue with what your razor has already produced. The pain from using tweezers only lasts a matter of seconds, you can handle it.
Tips
- If you start to feel itchy or have bumps, apply lotion over them. Do not scratch the area because it will only make it worse.
- Separate the razor you use for your pubic area from the razor you use for your face or underarms.
- Remember that your genitals are very sensitive to both men and women and your genitals may take some time to get used to the feeling of being shaved. After four or five shaves, this sensitivity will usually decrease. You may not get a perfectly smooth shave until you become more experienced at shaving your pubic hair.
- Using a good razor is the best way, instead of using disposable razors, to get a shorter and better shave. You may need to use a different razor or change the blade of your razor for your pubic area.
- Use a diaper rash cream on the red bumps.
- If you don't shave, adjust the direction of the pubic hair to match your pubic line. It will look cleaner and neater.
- Wait at least 30 minutes after waking up before shaving. During sleep, fluid collects under your skin, causing your skin to bulge a little more.
- You don't need to shave your pubic hair every day, wait a few days before shaving your pubic hair again to avoid irritation and lumps.
- Make sure you are always careful when shaving pubic hair, lest you get hurt!
- If you shave excessively, your vaginal "lips" will swell.
- If you start to have severe itching, talk to your doctor: this could be a sign of infection.
- Make sure the shaving cream does not enter the vagina. These creams can be irritating and dangerous.
