This wikiHow teaches you how to download videos from YouTube to your computer via the Google Chrome web browser. As the best solution for downloading HD quality videos (high definition or high definition) without ads or limitations, you can use the 4K Video Downloader application on your computer. However, you can also use various websites to download videos from YouTube via Google Chrome. Keep in mind that most YouTube video download sites are sponsored and cannot download copyrighted videos. Some sites like this also can't download videos with 1080p resolution. Since downloading videos from YouTube is a violation of Google's terms and conditions, Chrome extensions designed for downloading videos usually don't work.

Method 1 of 2: Installing the Crosspilot Extension
Step 1. Open
Google Chrome.
Click (or double-click) the Chrome icon, which looks like a red, yellow, green, and blue ball.
Step 2. Search for Crosspilot extension on Google Chrome Webstore
Visit https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/Crosspilot to search for the Crosspilot extension on the Google Chrome Webstore.
Step 3. Click Crosspilot
This banner is at the top of the search page. The crosspilot is indicated by a blue cube icon with the letter “C”.
Crosspilot is an extension that is usually used to install Opera extensions on Google Chrome. However, this extension also has a feature that allows you to download videos from YouTube
Step 4. Click Add to Chrome
It's a blue button in the top-right corner of the page. A pop-up notification window will be displayed.
Step 5. Click Add Extension
It's in the pop-up window that appears after you click the blue "Add to Chrome" button. The extension will be added to the browser and an options menu will appear in a separate tab asking you to grant permissions to the extension.

Step 9. Visit https://www.youtube.com/ via Google Chrome
The YouTube main page will open after that.
Step 10. Find the video you want to download
You can search for a video by typing its title in the search bar and pressing the “ Enter You can also browse suggested videos on the main page, or search for videos based on the channel you are subscribed to in the list on the left side of the page.
Step 11. Click the video to open it
When you find the video you want to open, click on its title or inset to open and play the video.
Step 12. Click Done
The first time you open a video, an alert pop-up window will appear below the video notifying you of new options below the video window.
Step 13. Click
Select the down-pointing arrow below the video to download the video. The video with the highest quality version (except 1080p) will be downloaded to the computer. By default, you can find downloaded videos in the “Downloads” folder.
- Alternatively, you can click the dot icon (“ ⋯ ”) on the right side of the video and choose a different quality. Videos will be converted via third-party conversion websites prior to download so be aware of the risks involved if you choose this option.
- You may need to specify a save location for the video or confirm the download before the video is downloaded, depending on your browser settings.

Step 1. Visit https://www.youtube.com/ via Google Chrome
The YouTube main page will open after that.
Step 2. Find the video you want to download
You can search for a video by typing its title in the search bar and pressing the “ Enter You can also browse suggested videos on the main page, or search for videos based on the channel you are subscribed to in the list on the left side of the page.

When you find the video you want to open, click on its title or inset to open and play the video.

It's next to the circular arrow icon. You'll find it at the bottom right of the video playback window. A window with video sharing options will appear.

The video URL will be copied afterwards. You can also right-click the video URL in the address bar at the top of the Google Chrome window and select “ Copy ”.
Step 6. Visit https://keepv.id/ in a new tab
This website allows you to download videos from YouTube. Right click the URL and select “ Open link in new tab ” to open the website in a new tab.
Step 7. Paste the YouTube video URL on the white bar
Right-click the white bar labeled "Insert video link & hit Go", then select " Paste ”.

It's a pink button at the top of the page. The selected video will be downloaded to the “Downloads” folder.
