Many makeup artists and special effects enthusiasts use fake blood to create gruesome and realistic looks, especially in the run-up to Halloween. Of course, nothing reflects the spooky atmosphere of Halloween more than thick, crimson blood! You can use ingredients you have in your kitchen to make edible fake blood. Try making fake blood using corn syrup or a dark red fake blood mixture using powdered sugar. Also, you can make thick fake blood using flour and let it thicken while the mixture cools. This way, you will no longer have to buy fake blood for Halloween!

- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
Fake Blood from Powdered/Floured Sugar (Edible)

Fake Blood from Wheat Flour (Edible)
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 250 ml water
- 2 tablespoons red food coloring
Step
Method 1 of 3: Making Edible Fake Blood from Corn Syrup
Step 1. Measure and put all the ingredients in a blender
Prepare a blender, measuring cup and spoon. Measure out each of the ingredients and put them in a blender. With these ingredients, you can make lots of fake blood that you can later use and eat. The materials needed are:
- 120 ml red juice/juice
- 300 milliliters corn syrup (or golden syrup)
- 2 tablespoons red food coloring
- 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
- 2 tablespoons corn starch/starch flour
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
Step 2. Mix all ingredients until smooth
Place the lid on the blender beaker and stir the mixture for 30 seconds so that all the ingredients are evenly mixed and form a smooth fake blood solution. It's a good idea to turn off the blender after 15 seconds and mix it again. This is done to ensure that the lumps of cocoa powder or starch are evenly mixed.
If you don't have a blender, you can use a large food grinder
Step 3. Adjust the desired blood color
Open the lid of the blender jar and scoop out a small amount of blood with a spoon to check the color. Drop a little blood on a white paper towel to see the color more clearly. If you need to adjust the color of the blood, you can add more red food coloring, chocolate syrup, or cocoa powder.
For example, if the color of the blood appears too pale or pinkish, add a few drops of red food coloring and stir the blood mixture again. If the color of the blood seems too bright, add a little cocoa syrup or cocoa powder and stir the mixture again
Step 4. Try thickening the fake blood mixture made
If you like the blood thicker and less lumpy, add corn syrup. For very thick blood, you can double the amount of corn syrup. Keep in mind that you may also need to add more food coloring because the color that was previously there will dissolve.
If you don't want to use corn syrup, you can substitute golden syrup instead
Method 2 of 3: Making Edible Fake Blood from Powdered Sugar
Step 1. Measure the water and sugar, then put them in a blender
Pour 250 ml of water into a blender or food processor. After that, measure the sugar as much as 450 grams and put it in a blender.
Step 2. Mix water with powdered sugar
Put the lid on the blender jar and mix the water and sugar for 30 seconds. Make sure the powdered sugar is completely dissolved in the water.
You may need to stir the mixture again to break up lumps of powdered sugar
Step 3. Add red food coloring and cocoa powder to the blender
Add 2 tablespoons of red food coloring to the blender. Put the lid back on the glass and turn on the blender until the dye is incorporated into the mixture. Add 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder and mix again the fake blood solution.
Powdered cocoa can thicken the blood solution and give it a more realistic blood-red color
Step 4. Adjust the desired blood color
Remove the cover of the glass and scoop out the blood using a spoon. Put some blood on a paper towel so you can see the color more clearly. Add red food coloring or cocoa powder until you get the color you want.
You can transfer the blood to a pressure bottle and squirt it to use it. Store blood in the refrigerator until you need it again
Method 3 of 3: Making Edible Fake Blood from Wheat Flour
Step 1. Put water and flour in a saucepan
Take a small saucepan and pour 250 ml of water into it. Add a tablespoon of flour to the water and beat the mixture to break up any lumps of flour. Try not to be able to dissolve the flour in water.
If you don't have a sifter, you can use a fork to quickly mix the water and flour together
Step 2. Heat the mixture
Turn on the stove on high heat until the mixture boils. Once it boils, lower the heat to low/medium. Now, the mixture is no longer boiling or bubbling. Heat the mixture for 30 minutes. Turn off the heat and cool the mixture.
Heating a mixture of flour and water can produce thick blood
Step 3. Add red food coloring and stir
Pour 2 tablespoons of red food coloring into the cooled flour and water mixture. Stir the food coloring until it is evenly mixed with the thickened blood mixture.
