While it can be very helpful, makeup can also be a hassle. If you have sensitive or problematic skin, you may not want to use foundation, concealer, and powder on your face. You can have clean and glowing skin easily without using makeup.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Doing Skin Care Routine
Step 1. Determine your skin type
Most skin types are divided into 4 categories: normal, oily, dry, or sensitive. The combination of the four skin types is also possible. Here are the signs:
- Normal skin has an even tone, smooth texture, and generally does not suffer from blemishes. Normal skin will not feel dry or oily to the touch.
- Dry skin often appears flaky due to lack of water and/or oil. This skin type may have an uneven texture and color and generally appear rough or scaly.
- Oily skin tends to be very shiny and often suffers from open blackheads, pimples, or acne. The pores of people with oily skin types may also be more visible.
- Sensitive skin is often red and irritated. Sometimes, irritation is triggered by chemicals present in skin care products. Flare ups in the skin can also be caused by products with strong fragrances.
- Sometimes, sensitive skin is caused by diseases or problems such as acne, eczema, rosacea, and others. If you suffer from this disease, you should consult a dermatologist to help overcome it.
Step 2. Protect your skin from the sun
The most beneficial thing you can do for your skin is to protect it from the sun's damaging and harmful rays. You should buy an effective sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 and wear it every day, even on cloudy or rainy days.
- Most importantly, sunscreen can protect you from getting skin cancer. Be sure to wear a full-spectrum sunscreen that protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays.
- If you start wearing it in your teens and 20s, sunscreen will help prevent wrinkles when you're in your 40s or 50s.
- Using sunscreen every day will also relieve the problem of skin redness or uneven blemishes so that the skin tone will appear more even without makeup.
Step 3. Clean the skin
Cleansing your skin with a cleanser that suits your skin type can drastically improve the quality of your skin. For most skin types, bar soaps can be too harsh on the skin. Instead, use a liquid cleanser made specifically for your face.
- If you have oily skin, you may need to wash your face two or three times a day. However, if your skin is very dry, you can only wash it off at night. Be sure to avoid cleansers that contain harsh detergents or alcohol, as these can damage the skin's protective moisture barrier.
- If you have oily and acne-prone skin, try using a facial cleanser that contains salicylic acid. These ingredients can help make the pores are not clogged and prevent acne.
- If you have dry or sensitive skin, avoid foam facial cleansers as they can lift skin moisture. Instead, try using a facial cleanser with a thick, milky texture or a gel-based one.
Step 4. Use a moisturizer
Any basic skin care should involve the use of a moisturizer because it maintains the protective layer of the skin. People with oily skin types should try a moisturizer that is more fluid and lotion-like in texture. Whereas people with dry skin types may need a thicker cream.
- If you have oily skin, you can refrain from using a moisturizer. However, if the skin is properly hydrated using a moisturizer, the skin will not produce as much oil, thereby reducing the risk of acne breakouts.
- Try using a moisturizer that contains some of the following ingredients that can make the stratum corneum, or the outermost layer of skin look better: ceramides, fatty acids, and hyaluronic acid (all of which help keep skin moisturized).
- Many common oils are also effective moisturizers. You can try using an oil you have at home like olive oil or coconut oil. Alternatively, you can also use a rarer oil such as argan, marula, jojoba, or almond oil.
Part 2 of 3: Make A Smooth Face Without Makeup
Step 1. Gently exfoliate the skin
To get really smooth and bright skin, try using an exfoliating mask to even out skin texture. Use a mask or medicine that contains a combination of Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA). Avoid using facial scrubs with coarse granules because they can damage the skin.
You should especially avoid masks that contain chunks of almonds or large-seeded fruits as they can often injure the skin
Step 2. Brighten the skin
A vitamin C serum can help even out blemishes from sunburn or other forms of skin discoloration. Apply the serum before using sunscreen to make the skin glow naturally.
Step 3. Look like using mascara
Start with the eyelashes. On the area where mascara is usually applied, use your fingers to gently push the lashes upwards. You can also use an eyelash curler to make your eyes appear fuller.
Don't lick your fingers while curling your lashes as this can allow bacteria to enter the very sensitive area of your face
Step 4. Make the lips look sexy
You don't need a lot of lipstick to make your lips look sexy. Instead, use lip balm which will make your lips appear fuller.
You can also rub strawberries or other red berries to add color to your lips. This trick was popular in ancient Greece when makeup was taken for granted by society
Step 5. Make your cheeks look flushed
If you want to use blush, you may be tempted to hit or pinch your cheeks to make them blush. However, do not do this because it can cause injury to the porters. Curl your lips so that they are sucked down the cavities of your cheekbones. Do this for 3 seconds, then exhale. The blood that flows down the cheeks will make him blush.
Step 6. Apply a primer that makes the skin glow
Although usually used before applying foundation, a good primer is able to cover imperfections without adding artificial color to the face. Use a silicone-based primer to help cover visible pores.
Step 7. Use a tinted moisturizer or BB cream
Although some cosmetic companies consider them "make up", they are lighter and have less coverage than traditional liquid or solid foundations. These products can help if you want to even out your skin tone.
- Although it was originally made in Germany, BB cream was popular in the Korean beauty market before being used in the United States. "BB" was originally an abbreviation of "blemish balm", but in the United States it was re-labeled as "beauty balm".
- BB cream is actually not textured like a moisturizer, but more like a liquid foundation that is lighter and more fluid. BB creams often contain a small amount of SPF (such as SPF 15 or 20). However, don't rely on it as the main product to protect your skin from the sun.
- You can apply the product on the skin after using sunscreen. Use clean hands, a brush, or a sponge to apply it to the skin.
Part 3 of 3: Creating Healthy Skin from Within
Step 1. Keep your body well hydrated
The condition of the skin often looks bad when it is dehydrated and pale. Drink plenty of water so that your skin looks radiant from within. Water from fruits, vegetables, and milk will also help you stay hydrated.
Step 2. Eat a healthy diet
Besides being able to reduce waist size, reducing consumption of processed and sweet foods will also make the skin healthier. Foods that contain the antioxidant selenium (usually found in Brazil nuts, shrimp, and other seafood products) have been shown to promote healthier skin and reduce the risk of skin cancer.
Step 3. Get plenty of rest
The CDC recommends about 7-9 hours of sleep for most adults. Lack of sleep and eye bags will make the skin age quickly. The face will look freshest after you get enough sleep.
Step 4. Manage stress
Stress can negatively affect hormones, causing your skin to produce too much oil, which can lead to breakouts. Exercise, meditation, and spending time with friends and family can help relieve stress.
Tips
- Believe in yourself. You may feel compelled to wear makeup, but believe in your natural beauty. We all have to live with existing skin conditions, so be confident with them.
- If you use a retinol-based product to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, make sure to use more sunscreen. Retinol can make skin more sensitive to the negative effects of sunlight.
