This wikiHow teaches you how to use Spotify Premium for free with a 30-day free trial, and how to cancel your Premium subscription to avoid fees. You can't continue to use Spotify Premium for free without ending up paying a subscription fee, but the free trial can be used as a consideration whether you want to continue using Spotify or not. Remember, a free trial of Spotify Premium can only be obtained if you have a Spotify account that has never been used to sign up for free Premium. Also, you can't sign up for Premium through the desktop version of the Spotify program or the Spotify app on your iPhone.

Method 1 of 3: Getting a Free Premium Trial on Desktop
Step 1. Visit Spotify
Launch a web browser and visit https://www.spotify.com/premium/. The Spotify Premium page will open.
Step 2. Click the green START FREE TRIAL button in the middle of the Spotify page
Step 3. Type in your account information when prompted
If you are not logged in to the Spotify site, you will need to type in your email address and password, then click LOG IN in order to continue.
- Skip to the next step when you are logged in.
- If you don't have an account yet, click the button Sign Up located at the bottom of the page, then fill out the form provided to create a Spotify account. After registering, return to the Spotify Premium page.
Step 4. Type in the payment information
While you won't pay the $9.99 monthly fee in the first month, you'll still need to enter your card number, name, expiration date, and security code on the checkout page.
Now Spotify Premium no longer accepts payments via PayPal so you will need to use a debit or credit card to do this step
Step 5. Click the green START 30-DAY FREE TRIAL NOW button under the payment information section
Your Premium subscription will start immediately. Within 30 days you can access Spotify Premium features for free. If 30 days have passed, you must pay a subscription fee of $9.99 per month, unless you cancel the subscription.
You will not be charged for the following month if you cancel your subscription one or more days before the end of the trial period
Step 6. Extend the free trial period if you wish
While you won't be able to enjoy Spotify Premium for free indefinitely, you can create a new Spotify account with a different email address (or Facebook account), then cancel your subscription before it's charged. It's not practical, but it allows you to enjoy Spotify Premium for free continuously without having to pay $9.99 every month.
Method 2 of 3: Getting a Premium Trial for Free on Android
Step 1. Launch Spotify
Tap the Spotify icon, which is a green circle in which there are some black curved lines. Once you are logged into your account, the Spotify home page will open.
- If not logged in, tap LOG IN, type in your email address and password, then tap LOGIN.
- You can't sign up for a free trial of Spotify Premium on your iPhone, iPod, or iPad.
Step 2. Tap on Your Library located in the lower right corner
Step 3. Tap Settings
Tap the gear icon in the top right corner to open the Settings menu.
Step 4. Tap GO PREMIUM
It's a large button at the top of the screen.
Step 5. Tap GET PREMIUM
It's at the top of the screen below the "Subscribe now and get 30 days free" heading. The payment page will open.
Step 6. Make sure you have a debit or credit card
Spotify no longer accepts payments with PayPal so you'll need to use a card to sign up for a Premium account.
Step 7. Type in the postal code
In the " Please enter your zip code " text field, type the postal code for the billing address of the card.
It may not be the same as your current zip code
Step 8. Tap CONTINUE
It's a green button at the bottom of the screen.
Step 9. Type in payment information
In the fields labeled, enter your name, number, expiration date, and security code for your card.
Step 10. Tap CONTINUE located at the bottom of the screen
By doing so, the account will be registered to use a free trial of Spotify Premium for 30 days. After the trial period ends, you must pay a monthly fee of $9.99 if you do not cancel your subscription.
If you cancel your subscription within one or more days before the trial period ends, Spotify will not charge you for the following month
Method 3 of 3: Canceling Premium Subscription Before It Is Charged
Step 1. Visit the Spotify site
Run a web browser on your computer and visit https://www.spotify.com/. If you are logged in, your Spotify dashboard page will be opened.
- If your browser does not save your login details, click Login at the top right of the page, type in your Spotify account email address and password, then click LOG IN.
- To avoid being charged when your trial expires, cancel your Spotify Premium subscription before the term expires (30 days). You can cancel your subscription at any time without losing access to the 30-day trial.
Step 2. Click Profiles
This option is in the top right. A drop-down menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Click Account in the drop-down menu
Your Spotify account page will open.
Step 4. Click MANAGE PLAN
It's a black button below the " Spotify Premium " heading on the right of the page.
If this option is not there, first check that you are on the right page by clicking the tab Account overview at the top left of the page.
Step 5. Click CHANGE OR CANCEL
It's a green button in the middle of the page.
Step 6. Click CANCEL PREMIUM
It's a gray button to the right of the page, below the " Change plans " heading.
Step 7. Click YES, CANCEL
The button is located at the top of the page. Doing so will end your free Spotify Premium trial within 30 days. This keeps you from being billed for subscription fees.
Spotify Premium's free trial can be canceled immediately after you create it. You can still enjoy Premium for 30 days
Tips
- While there's an "UPGRADE ACCOUNT" section of the desktop version of the Spotify app, what will open is the Spotify Premium web page when you select it.
- The free trial of Premium will apply on all platforms you use to sign in to your Spotify account. This includes mobile devices, smart TVs (smart TVs), consoles, and other computers.
