This wikiHow teaches you how to open a PSD (Photoshop) file on an Android device using PSD Viewer, Adobe Photoshop Mix, and Google Drive.

Method 1 of 3: Using PSD (Photoshop) File Viewer
Step 1. Save the PSD file to your Android device
You can skip this step if the file is already stored on your device. Follow these steps to sync files from computer to device:
- Connect the device to the computer using a USB cable.
- Expand the notification bar on the phone and select the file transfer option via USB.
- Open a Finder (Mac) or File Explorer (Windows) window and locate the Android device folder.
- Open the folder containing the PSD file on your computer's hard drive.
- Copy the PSD file from your computer to your device folder.
- After the files have been copied and pasted, end the connection of the device with the computer.
Step 2. Open Play Store
Play Store apps are marked with white icons with red, blue, orange, and green arrows. You can touch this icon on the device's home screen.
Step 3. Type “PSD file viewer” into the search bar
Search results that match the entered keywords will be displayed.
Step 4. Touch PSD (Photoshop) File Viewer
When you see the PSD File Viewer option in the search results, touch it to display the application page, along with several options.
Step 5. Touch Install
The PSD File Viewer will be downloaded and installed to the device.
Step 6. Open the PSD (Photoshop) File Viewer
You can open the application by touching its icon on the folder
or by selecting the button “ OPEN ” on the app page in the Play Store.
Step 7. Open the file in PSD File Viewer
After that, you can preview the PSD file as an image.
Method 2 of 3: Editing a PSD File Using Photoshop Mix
Step 1. Save the PSD file to the “Creative Cloud” sync folder
If you want to use your Android device to edit a PSD file with layers previously done in Photoshop, upload the file to your Creative Cloud account. Follow these steps to upload the file:
- Visit https://assets.adobe.com and sign in to your Adobe account.
- Click " Files ” in the left column.
- Click the arrow pointing up with the cloud in the top right corner of the page.
- Select the file and click " Open ”.
Step 2. Install Photoshop Mix from Play Store
This free application from Adobe allows you to edit image layers in PSD files on your mobile device when you can't use a computer. Follow these steps to download the app:

open Play Store
- Type photoshop mix into the search bar.
- Touch " Adobe Photoshop Mix ”.
- Touch " Install ”.
Step 3. Open Adobe Photoshop Mix
You can find the icon (a two-colored blue square with overlapping circles inside) on the page/app drawer or home screen.
Step 4. Sign in to your Adobe account
Step 5. Touch +
It's in the left sidebar.
Step 6. Touch Image
It's at the top of the menu.
Step 7. Touch Creative Cloud
This option is on the left side of the screen.
Step 8. Select the PSD file and touch Open
If the PSD file is saved to a subfolder, open the folder to find the file.
Step 9. Touch Extract Layers
Two options for extracting layers will be displayed.
If you only need to review the file, touch “ Use As Image ” to open the file and merge all the layers into one object.
Step 10. Touch View & Search Layers
A list of all layers will be displayed.
Step 11. Touch the first layer (bottom layer)
This layer is at the bottom of the list. A new composition based on the selected layer will be created.
Step 12. Add more layers in order
Follow these steps in order until all the layers are added in the proper order (from bottom to top):
- Touch " +" and select " Image ”.
- Touch " Creative Cloud ”.
- Select the file and touch " Open ”.
- Touch " Extract Layers ”.
- Touch " View & Search Layers ”.
- Touch the next layer to add it to the document.
- Repeat the process until all layers are added.
Step 13. Edit the image
Touch the layer preview icon on the right side of the image to select the layer, then use the tools at the bottom of the screen to make changes.
Step 14. Save the job
When finished editing the image, touch the button
at the top of the screen, select “ Send to Photoshop ”, and follow the on-screen instructions to upload a new file to your Adobe account storage (cloud).
Method 3 of 3: Using Google Drive
Step 1. Save the file you want to review to your Google Drive account
If the file is in your Gmail inbox, open the email that contains the file and follow these steps:
- Touch the button “ Add to Drive ” for attachments (usually in the middle of the preview icon).
- In the menu that appears, select the folder in your Drive account as the location to save the PSD file.
- Choose " Add " after that.
Step 2. Open the Google Drive app
This app is marked by a white icon with a yellow, blue, and green triangle. You can access this app from Google folder.
Step 3. Locate the file you want to review
After accessing your Drive account, select the PSD file storage folder from the main menu.
Step 4. Open the PSD file
Touch the preview icon to open it. Since Google Drive supports a wide variety of formats, PSD files can be opened without any problems.
