Fungal spores are everywhere. Spores float through the air, in and out without us knowing, until they finally start to grow. With the right conditions, namely in moist conditions, the spores will begin to grow into mold. Of course you will feel sad when you see mold spots on your favorite furniture. What's even sadder is probably trying hard to clean, while the methods you use actually damage the wood. Step 1. Remove mold from furniture in a well-ventilated room
While not essential, if possible, consider doing a mildew removal from wood furniture outdoors to avoid spreading mold spores indoors. If you will be doing this indoors, open all doors and windows to allow air circulation. Use an air purifier during and after the furniture cleaning process to rid the room of mold spores that are released into the air during the cleaning process.
Step 2. Test a small piece of furniture with the cleaning agent of your choice for results
To perform the test, select an invisible point, such as the underside or back of a piece of furniture.
Step 3. Start with the mildest cleaning agent, then work your way up until you get the one with the strongest effect needed to remove mold spores
Different products will react in different ways to furniture because of the composition of wood, coating (varnish) and wax (coating material made of wax) according to their respective characteristics.
Step 4. Remove any visible mildew on the surface of the furniture
Mix mild laundry soap with warm water in a bucket. Use a clean rag/cloth to remove mildew from the surface of the furniture. Another solution you can try is to wipe the area with a clean cloth dampened with alcohol. You can also use a commercial wood cleaning product or antibacterial wet wipes. You don't need to add too much water to the wood as moisture is one of the causes of mold growth. Just use a slightly damp cloth. Frequently rinse the cloth / cloth.
Step 5. Clean the furniture down to the center
The use of wood finishing materials often causes mildew to remain on the surface, but does not affect the interior of the wood at all. Meanwhile, other times, especially if the furniture is made of porous wood or soft wood, the fungus will spread further into the wood. Try what you can. It's just that sometimes mold stains are impossible to clean. To start, choose a very fine quality sandpaper. Switch to a coarser sandpaper only if necessary.
Step 6. To protect the surface of your furniture, apply a clear or waxed coating
These ingredients will stop the growth of mold and prevent moisture.
