Soccer balls can be useful if you know how to draw them. By following this tutorial, even the most artistic challenges can create a real-looking soccer ball. Let's get started!
Step
Method 1 of 2: Traditional Soccer
Step 1. Draw a large oval in the center of the page
Draw a vertical center line that extends from both ends (left to right).
Step 2. Draw an oval shape that is smaller but the same length as the center line
Step 3. Draw two rings facing each other using the curved lines as guides
Step 4. Draw the adjacent ends and the strings that hold them together
Step 5. Thicken the drawing with a pen and erase unnecessary sketch lines
Step 6. Color it however you want
Method 2 of 2: Basic Soccer
Step 1. Draw a soccer ball shape (like a sideways egg) with rounded or pointed ends
This image shows rounded ends, but soccer balls in real life tend to have pointed ends.
Step 2. Draw two slightly curved lines near the center
These two lines should be symmetrical to each other, as shown in the figure.
Step 3. Draw two rectangles near the ends
But don't go over the bottom line, or your soccer ball will look a bit unusual.
Step 4. Add a long thin rectangle to the top line
This rectangle must not reach both vertical rectangles!
Step 5. Add eight small rectangles to form the stitches
You can make these rectangles as thick or thin as you like, but you may not want to make them larger than the main line if you want to draw a realistic spherical appearance.
Step 6. Thicken the lines in the image and delete the guide lines
Add more detail if you want, like more lines to give it a weathered look, or even some players throwing it back and forth.
Step 7. Color the image
Most soccer balls are brown, but you might want to color them in the colors of your favorite team, or some kind of interesting pattern -. That part is up to you!
