If your new soccer shoes feel a little tight, there are several things you can do to stretch them quickly. You can stretch them by wetting your shoes with water or heating them with a hairdryer, then put them on and use them for a walk. If you want to stretch your shoes without having to put them on, use a shoe stretcher or insert newspaper into them. If the toe is too narrow and causes the toes to shrivel up, you will need to buy new shoes.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Stretching Shoes by Wearing them
Step 1. Put on shoes and use them for a walk around the house to stretch them naturally
Also wear sports socks. Keep your shoes on around the house when you're doing homework, cooking, or hanging out with your family. Wear shoes for at least 30 minutes, and remove them if your feet hurt.
- Wear thick socks, or several layers of socks to speed up the stretching of the shoes.
- If certain points on your feet rub against shoes, cover the area with a bandage to prevent blisters.
Step 2. Wet the shoes and socks with water to stretch them while waiting for the shoes to dry
Put water in a spray bottle, then spray on shoes and socks to wet them. You can also pour water directly on them. Make sure your shoes, and especially socks, are in good condition and damp. Wear socks and shoes to move for 30-60 minutes until they dry themselves, and follow the shape of the foot.
- You can use warm or cold water.
- Keep moving while waiting for the shoes to dry, for example by warming up a soccer ball, or moving your toes.
- Apply Vaseline to areas that are at risk of scalding before you put on your shoes.
Step 3. Use a hairdryer to stretch the shoes using heat
Put on thick socks before you put on your shoes. Turn on the hairdryer, and set it on a high heat setting, then heat each shoe for 5 minutes. Don't keep the blow dryer at one point for too long, but continue to move the dryer slowly around the shoe to stretch it using heat.
Once heated with a hairdryer, continue to wear the shoes for about another 10 to 20 minutes so the shoes will continue to stretch
Step 4. Soak the soccer shoes in hot water for about 10 minutes to reshape them
Wear socks and shoes. Put your feet in a basin or bucket that can fit both of your feet. Pour hot water into the bucket so that it soaks the sides and toes, but does not touch the shoelaces (or the place to tie the shoelaces, if you have one). Continue to wear the shoes in the hot water for about 10 minutes, then continue to wear the shoes for another 30 minutes while drying them.
- Do not use boiling or very hot water as this can damage the glue (and scald your feet).
- Hot water makes the shoes flexible, and when you put them on to dry they will conform to the shape of your feet.
- If your shoes are leather, use leather conditioner after you take them out of the water to prevent them from cracking.
Step 5. Loosen your shoelaces so you can tie your shoes comfortably
If the shoe has laces, it's probably the laces that make them feel tight. Loosen the rope from top to bottom, then insert your feet. Adjust the tongue of the shoe in such a way that you feel comfortable. then re-tighten the laces to cover the shoes.
Repeat this process on the other shoe until it feels comfortable on the foot
Method 2 of 2: Stretching Shoes without Wearing them
Step 1. Stretch all sides of the shoe using a shoe stretcher
There are various types of shoe stretchers that can be used to stretch shoes from the toe to the sides of the shoe. Insert the stretcher into the shoe and adjust it to stretch any areas that feel tight on the foot. Leave the stretcher in the shoe for 24 hours.
- For example, if you want to make your shoe wider, use a two-way stretch.
- You can get shoe stretchers at supermarkets, shoe stores, or the internet.
Step 2. Place a plastic bag filled with water into the shoe to stretch in the freezer
Place the plastic bag inside the shoe until it reaches your toe. Fill the bag with water until it fills the shoe cavity, then seal the end of the bag by tying it. Place the shoes in the freezer to allow the water to expand as they cool. This will stretch the shoe.
- Leave the shoes in the freezer overnight to allow the water to completely freeze.
- Make sure the plastic bag doesn't leak before you put it in the shoe.
- If you can't get the frozen plastic bag out of the shoe, allow the ice to thaw for a few minutes to loosen the plastic bag.
Step 3. Stretch the top of the shoe by inserting a tennis ball into it
If the shoes feel tight at the top of the foot, place a tennis ball as deep as possible into each shoe. Leave the tennis ball in the shoe overnight to stretch the top of the shoe.
Step 4. Insert the newsprint into the shoe to adjust the stretch
Gather up newsprint or magazines and tuck them into your shoes to fill them from the top to the toes. Place more newspaper on the area you want to stretch. Once the shoes are packed with newspaper, leave them overnight to allow them to fully stretch.
Insert the newspaper until it is solid so that the shoe can fully stretch
Step 5. Bend the shoes with your hands to stretch them in your spare time
While watching TV or sitting waiting for your turn to play, take your shoes and pull them with your hands to stretch them. By pulling with your hands, the shoe will stretch slowly.
