You can appear on Family Feud by submitting a video application, or by auditioning for it live. Auditioning for this event is quite easy, and the director of the role also places very few conditions on potential contestants. If you're interested in appearing on the show, here's what you need to know.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Submitting an Application
Step 1. Submit the application once done
Family Feud accepts applications on a rolling basis, so you can submit your family application at any time after completion.
- Your chances of being accepted or seen will increase if you submit your application while the event is actively seeking contestants. You can find out the schedule of this event looking for contestants when live auditions are held. Usually, the time is around mid-January to mid-April.
- You can also call the hotline (aka hotline) for the contestants section of the event to determine when the application submission time is the most appropriate. The telephone number for the standby line is 323-762-8467.
Step 2. Understand the rules of the event
If you do not meet the basic requirements for an event contestant, your application will be automatically rejected.
- You must have five family members, including you. Each member must be related by blood, marriage, or law.
- Each member of your family must be a US citizen or have a permit to work in the US
- No team member can be linked to or know anyone who works at Family Feud, Fremantle Media, Debmar-Mercury, or Wanderlust Productions. No one is related or knows the affiliation hosting the event.
- No one on the proposal team currently holds a political position.
- No one on the proposal team can be in more than two game events in the past year.
- Anyone who has appeared on this event in the last ten years is not allowed to participate.
- There is no age requirement, but the show's producers recommend that members of the proposal team be at least 15 years old.
- You must record your eligibility in the application by restating each requirement, and certifying that your family has met each of the requirements. You can include this information in the video or in written form when submitting the video.
Step 3. Prepare the video
Make a short video that introduces your family in the most informative and innovative way possible.
- The length of the video is three to five minutes.
- Begin your video by introducing each member of your proposal team. All five members appear in the video, and everyone has to introduce themselves.
- When introducing yourself, say something interesting about yourself. You can talk about your position in the family, your job, your hobbies, or anything else that makes you stand out. The idea is to be informative but unique.
- Do your best to make yourself stand out. You can imitate this game or use props. Be energetic, but still be yourself. You should tell the role director how excited your family is to join the event, because enthusiasm will create even greater entertainment.
Step 4. Submit your application to the right source
You can email a link to your YouTube video, or send a video DVD via the postal system.
- Upload the video to YouTube and email the link to: [email protected]
- Burn video to DVD and send to: Fremantle Media NA, 4000 West Alameda Ave, Burbank, CA 91505, attn: Family Feud Casting Dept.
- Include your city and state of origin in each correspondence.
Part 2 of 3: Auditioning
Step 1. Find out where and when the audition takes place
Auditions are usually held between mid-January and mid-April, but it's best to find out more specific information by checking the official Family Feud audition website.
- Auditions usually take place just before the start of the new season.
- Auditions are usually held in four to six cities across the United States. Auditions were conducted throughout the weekend at each location.
Step 2. Understand the eligibility requirements
No team can audition if one of its members violates the ground rules of the show.
- Your candidate team must consist of five members, and everyone must be related by blood, marriage, or law.
- All family members must be US citizens. Anyone who is not a US citizen must at least have a permit to work in the US
- No team member can be linked to or know anyone who works at Family Feud, Fremantle Media, Debmar-Mercury, or Wanderlust Productions.
- None of the team members currently holds a political position.
- Anyone who has appeared in more than two game events in the past year is not eligible. Similarly, anyone who has appeared on this show in the past ten years is ineligible.
- There is no age requirement, but team members are advised to be at least 15 years old.
Step 3. Schedule your audition
To make sure your family can audition, send an email to the appropriate role selection department for your audition city.
-
The email address for each city can be found on the show's audition page, but usually the city name is followed by "@familytryouts.com." For example:
- The email address for the Austin, Texas trial is [email protected].
- The email address for the Phoenix, Arizona trial is [email protected].
- The email address for the Boston, Massachusetts trial is [email protected]
- The email address for the San Francisco, California trial is [email protected].
- The email address for the Indianapolis, Indiana trial is [email protected].
Step 4. Be on time
A time on the audition date will be set for your family. You should show up at least an hour early to make sure you have enough time to follow the check-in line.
Step 5. Complete the form
Upon check-in, your family will be given a form to complete before taking the actual audition. The first audition was given to the family who completed the form first.
- Prepare to fill in basic information such as name, age, and other eligibility factors.
- Write down "interesting facts" about yourself. For example about your work, hobbies, or anything else that makes you stand out.
- Prepare a narrative about your family. Again, the more unique the family will look more attractive to the role director.
- Explain what you will do with the prize money if you win. Families that have goals or plans are more likely to be accepted.
Step 6. Play the practice game
After submitting the application, the moderator will ask you to play two rounds of practice games.
- In one round, you will answer questions while the other team prepares to steal the round.
- In another round, the other team will answer questions while your team prepares to steal the round.
- Winning or losing in a round has nothing to do with the team passing the audition.
- This practice game is played in front of an audience consisting of other audition families.
- Be energetic and natural. Overall, your family should be eager to catch the attention of the role-director. However, if one of your family members seems a little calmer, allow him to behave naturally and not force a fake cheerful personality. As long as the rest of the family stays happy, you still have a chance.
- Don't care about right and wrong answers. You do have to take the game seriously, but by the end of the audition, the cast will care more about families whose members stand out more than families whose members know all the answers. Being an entertainer is more important than being a genius.
Part 3 of 3: Waiting for Decision
Step 1. Wait for the response
If the role directors like what they see at the audition or in your application, you'll receive a postcard.
- You will receive your card within a month or two of the audition. If you submit your application outside of the season, you may not hear back from him until several months after the next audition ends.
- If your family doesn't accept postcards, you're not welcome. You will not receive an official rejection notice.
Step 2. Let the event make your travel arrangements
If your family is accepted, the show's producers will book your airfare, hotel, and transportation to Atlanta, Georgia, where the event was recorded. This event will also pay for all costs.
A shooting date will be determined without asking your permission, but if there are special circumstances that prevent your family from going on that date, you can request that that date be excluded from the date selection. To make it easier to grant, do this before a shooting date for your family is set
Step 3. Reapply for the audition if you wish
If your family is not selected to be at this event, you can still re-register the following year or two.
The only time you can't re-register is if one of your team members shows up at an event on another team. No team whose members have performed at this event in the last ten years
Tips
- React quickly when answering questions. You should say your answer immediately, after clicking the button.
- Take the allotted 3 seconds to answer the question. If you're not sure, start talking for two seconds; say something like: "My answer is_", to give it a second or two longer.
- You are given 20 or 25 seconds in the "quick money" round, depending on whether you are first or second person. The clock starts after the first question. Say the answer to the first question really quickly to give you more time to answer the remaining four questions. Don't skip the question, just say what comes to your mind.
