The Voice is a popular reality show and singing competition. While the show is based on a show that actually aired in the Netherlands, The Voice is now broadcast in more than a dozen countries. Step 1. Wait until you are at least 15 years old

This can include citizens, migrating citizens, and green card holders.

You will be asked to show proof of citizenship, so make sure you have a green card, US passport, social security card or driver's license

Step 3. Be aware of your public image

Do not apply to The Voice if you are in the process of becoming a civil servant. You should also be able to promise not to give any disrespectful appearances at auditions and during events, if you are selected.

Step 6. Save money for travel and extended stays for The Voice

Here are the important dates that have been booked for the trip:

  • Travel to New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles or Chicago for auditions. These locations may change from season to season.
  • Go to Los Angeles for 1 week to 2 months after your initial audition. Accommodation and travel for The Voice's final audition are covered by the show.
  • Travel and live in secret locations for up to 9 months during filming. Lodging and travel for season competitions are covered by the event.

Step 2. Sign up for an Artist Account at nbcthevoice.com/artist-account-login.php

Once you have completed registration, you will be provided with an artist number.

Step 3. Submit a request for an open audition at one of the selected locations with your artist number

You can do this with your account at NBC.

Step 4. Plan your transportation to the open audition, once the audition is confirmed

The initial audition fee is borne by you.

Step 5. Log in to your Artist Account 1 week before your audition

You will receive a reminder email.

Step 6. Print Your Audition Sign

You must have this sheet and photo ID to audition.

Step 2. Choose to complete The Voice video audition, if you are unable to attend the open audition

You can't try to audition for The Voice via video and in person.

Video submissions are open all year round. Even if there is no deadline, you should make sure you meet all the requirements before submitting

Step 3. Print, fill out and sign the audition form

Step 4. Choose 2 songs to sing with friends

You are not allowed to audition "a capella".

Step 5. Sing 2 songs while they are recorded with a device that you can burn on DVD

Step 6. Enter an "About Me" monologue under 5 minutes

You have to be creative in telling The Voice judges who you are and why you want to join The Voice.

Step 7. Record your audition video onto a 12 cm (standard) DVD disc

Step 8. Label the disc with your name, account number and the artist's phone number
