This wikiHow teaches you how to change the language in your browser. Unfortunately, you can't change your phone's browser language unless you change the language setting on your device.
Step
Method 1 of 5: Google Chrome (Desktop)
Step 1. Click the yellow, red, and green icon with a blue circle in the middle to open Google Chrome
Step 2. Click the button in the top right corner of the Chrome window
Step 3. Click the Settings option at the bottom of the menu
Step 4. Scroll down and click the Show advanced settings link at the bottom of the page
Step 5. Scroll down, then click on the Language and input settings option under Language
It's in the middle of the page.
Step 6. In the lower left corner of the window, click Add
Step 7. Click the box under "Add Language"
This box will display the name of the language (eg "Afrikaans").
Step 8. Click the language of your choice
The list of languages in the "Add Language" box will be displayed alphabetically. Therefore, you just have to scroll through the page to find the language.
Step 9. To add your chosen language to Chrome's language menu, click OK
Step 10. Click the Display Google Chrome in this Language button in the top right corner of the "Languages" window
You can also check the "Use this language for spell checking" and "Offer to translate pages in this language" boxes to apply language settings to all aspects of Chrome
Step 11. Click the Done button in the lower right corner of the "Language" window
After restarting Chrome, your new language settings will take effect.
Method 2 of 5: Firefox (Desktop)
Step 1. Click the fox icon circling the blue globe to open Firefox
Step 2. Click the button in the top right corner of the Firefox window
Step 3. Click the cog icon in the middle of the menu to open the Options window
Step 4. Click the Content tab at the top left of the page
Step 5. Click Choose to the right of "Languages"
This option is at the bottom of the page.
Step 6. Select the Select a language to add option under "Languages"
Step 7. Scroll the screen, and click a language to select it
Step 8. Click the Add button next to the language you want to add
It's in the "Select a language to add" column at the bottom of the window.
Step 9. Click OK to apply the changes
This option is the first option at the bottom of the window. After applying the changes, you will need to restart Firefox to see them.
This change will only affect web pages that support your preferred language
Method 3 of 5: Microsoft Edge
Step 1. Click the Win button in the lower left corner of the screen
Step 2. Enter "control panel" in the search bar below the Start window
Step 3. Click Control Panel
This option is generally at the top of the Start window.
Step 4. Click the Add a language link under the "Clock, Language, and Region" heading
Step 5. Click the Add a language link at the top of the page, just below the "Change your language preferences" heading
Step 6. Click the language of your choice
The list of languages will be displayed alphabetically. Therefore, you just have to scroll through the page to find the language.
Step 7. Click Open in the lower right corner of the window
If your preferred language does not have the dialect you are looking for, this button will change the label to "Add"
Step 8. If prompted, select a dialect
While some languages do not have dialects, most languages support at least two variations.
Step 9. Click Add in the lower right corner of the window
Step 10. Click Move up
It's to the right of "Add a language", near the top of the window.
You may need to click the button several times until your preferred language moves to the top of the list
Step 11. Close Control Panel
After restarting the computer and reopening Edge, your settings will take effect.
Method 4 of 5: Internet Explorer
Step 1. Click the blue "e" icon with a yellow ring around it to open Internet Explorer
Step 2. Click the ️ button in the upper right corner of the Internet Explorer window
Step 3. Click Internet Options at the bottom of the drop-down window
Step 4. Click on Languages under the "Internet Options" window
If you don't see this option, make sure you're on the "General" tab of the "Internet Options" window
Step 5. Click Set language preferences
It's at the top of the Internet Options window.
Step 6. Click Add a language under the "Change your language preferences" heading, at the top of the page
Step 7. Click the language of your choice
The list of languages will be displayed alphabetically. Therefore, you just have to scroll through the page to find the language.
Step 8. Click Open in the lower right corner of the window
If your preferred language does not have a supported dialect, this button will change the label to "Add".
Step 9. If prompted, select a dialect
While some languages do not have dialects, most languages support at least two variations.
Step 10. Click Add in the lower right corner of the window
Step 11. Click Move up
It's to the right of "Add a language", near the top of the window.

Method 5 of 5: Opera (Desktop)
Step 1. Click the red "O" icon to open Opera
Step 2. Click Menu in the top left corner of the page
Step 3. Click the Settings option near the bottom of the menu
Step 4. Click Browser
This option is under the "Settings" heading, at the top right of the page.
Step 5. Scroll to the screen, then click Preferred languages
It's under the "Languages" header, at the bottom center of the page.
Step 6. Click the Add Language button in the lower left corner of the window
Step 7. Click the box containing the language name (eg "Africans") under "Add Language"
Step 8. Click the language of your choice
The list of languages will be displayed alphabetically. Therefore, you just have to scroll through the page to find the language.
Step 9. Click OK to add the language to the list of languages in the Languages menu of the browser
Step 10. Click and drag your preferred language to the top of the list to make it your preferred language
The language will be used on supported sites.
Step 11. Click the blue Done button in the lower right corner of the window
After restarting your browser, your preferred language will be used on supported sites.
