Nuzleaf is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in the third generation of the Pokémon game series (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, and LeafGreen). Nuzleaf has a brown body with short large thighs. Nuzleaf has a long nose and a leaf on top of his head. At the beginning of Nuzleaf's introduction, it was known that Nuzleaf could evolve into its next form, namely Shiftry. Unlike most other Pokémon, Nuzleaf is one of the few Pokémon that can only evolve using evolution stones, or objects that force Pokémon to evolve. To learn how to evolve nuzleaf, see Step 1.

Step 1. Go to where the Leaf Stone can be found

The Leaf Stone is an evolution stone that forces Grass-type Pokémon like Nuzleaf to evolve. To get this thing, you have to know where to find it first. The location to find the Leaf Stone depends on your version of the game:

  • Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald-Can be obtained from a Pokémon trainer called Diving Treasure Hunter and also when walking on Route 119 (Central Hoenn).
  • FireRed and LeafGreen-Can be purchased from the Celadon Department Store and when walking within the Safari Zone.
  • Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum-Can be found when walking through the Underground Path and Floaroma Meadow.
  • HeartGold and SoulSilver-Can be found in the Viridian Forest, by defeating a Pokémon trainer named Picnicker Gina on Route 34, and also getting them as gifts from the Bug-Catching Contest and Pokéathlon.
  • Black and White-Can be obtained when walking on Route 6, Castelia City, and Black City.
  • Black 2 and White 2-Can be found when walking on Route 7, White Forest, and Lostlorn Forest; Also available at the Antique Shop at Join Avenue.
  • X and Y-Can be found in the Stone Emporium in Lumiose City, when walking on Route 8 and Laverre City, and by defeating Trainer Inver on Route 18.

Step 2. Get Leaf Stones

Once you get to where the Leaf Stone is (Step 1), all you have to do is walk around the place. When your character is standing on the right (randomly chosen) part of the floor, a message saying “Your character has found a Leaf Stone” will appear, and the Leaf Stone will be placed in your bag.

You can get Leaf Stones by defeating certain Pokémon trainers in some versions of the game (also mentioned in Step 1)

Tips

  • Do not cancel the evolution process by pressing the "B" button. You will not get the Leaf Stone back if the process is cancelled.
  • By evolving Nuzleaf, there are several new skills to learn, such as Leaf Storm and Leaf Tornado, which can only be learned after Nuzleaf evolves into Shiftry.
  • Not all Grass-type Pokémon can evolve using Leaf Stones, but Leaf Stones can only be used to evolve Grass-type Pokémon.
