Method 1 of 3: Ironing Cards
Step 1. Place a heat-resistant cloth over the card
Because the Yu-Gi-Oh! flammable, the iron can burn the card. Laminated cards can also melt when exposed to hot temperatures. Therefore, place a heat-resistant cloth (such as an old T-shirt) on the card as a barrier between the iron and the card.
Step 2. Select the ironing temperature setting based on the protective cloth used
The temperature setting of the iron will depend on the protective cloth used. The higher the level of heat resistance of the fabric, the higher the temperature of the iron that can be used.
- Fabrics with a high degree of heat resistance are: linen, denim, cotton, polyester, rayon, and silk.
- Fabrics with low heat resistance are: wool, acetate, acrylic, nylon, and spandex.
Step 3. Do not use the steam mode on the iron
Yu-Gi-Oh! can be damaged when exposed to water. In addition, because humid air can bend the card, the steam mode of the iron can reduce the quality and value of the card. Make sure the steam mode on the iron is not used when ironing cards.
Step 4. Iron the card until it is flat again

Method 2 of 3: Using a Hair Dryer
Step 1. Lay the card down on a flat surface
Place the card face down on a flat surface so that the curve is pointing down. A wrinkled card will generally be difficult to flatten again. Flipping the card down can help restore its original shape.
Step 2. Select the highest drying temperature and then turn on the hairdryer
The heat generated can remove moisture and wrinkles from the card. Choose the highest drying temperature. A hairdryer can't produce the same temperature as an iron (and won't touch the card directly), so you don't need to cover the card with a protective cloth.
Step 3. Use the hair dryer on the card evenly for 30 seconds
Move the hair dryer back and forth. To keep the card from being carried away by the wind, hold it with your hands. The hair dryer should be positioned as close as possible, but not touching the card. After at least 30 seconds, look at the card and make sure the wrinkles are gone.
Step 4. Continue using the hairdryer until the card is flat again
After the first try, the card may not return to its original state. Reuse the hairdryer for 30 seconds, and check the condition of the card periodically. If after a few minutes the card is still bent, you may need to try another method.
Method 3 of 3: Steaming Cards
Step 1. Bring water to a boil using the stove
In order to steam, the water must be brought to a boil. Pour water into a saucepan and bring to a boil on the stove. Wait for the surface of the water to bubble and release steam. Cover the pot to trap the steam. After that, transfer to a bowl.
Turn off the stove when the water boils
Step 2. Pour the boiled water into a heatproof bowl
Use a heat-resistant bowl so it doesn't bend or melt. Some plastic bowls can't hold water. Make sure the bowl you use is heat-resistant. Use a glass, ceramic, or porcelain bowl.
Be careful when pouring hot water into the bowl so you don't burn your hands
Step 3. Cover the mouth of the bowl with plastic wrap
The lid of the pot does not cover the mouth of the bowl completely. In addition, the lid of the pot also cannot trap steam which can heat up the card. Use plastic wrap to cover the entire mouth of the bowl. After a few seconds, dew will form in the bowl.
Step 4. Place the card on top of the plastic wrap
After covering the mouth of the bowl with plastic wrap, place the card (face down) on top of the plastic wrap. Observe the card for 30-60 seconds. After that, try to check the condition of the card and make sure the wrinkles are gone. Repeat this process until the card is flat again.
Tips
- Take good care of the card after you have flattened it so it doesn't bend again. After use, insert the card in a safe place. Store the card in a warm and dry place.
- Place the card in a protective plastic case so it doesn't change its shape.
