Step
Method 1 of 5: Miracle Whip Sauce Substitute
Step 1. Blend the first four ingredients
Mix egg yolks, salt, powdered sugar and lemon juice by hand or an electric mixer.
- You can also use a blender or food processor in addition to a mixer.
-
Use only the yolk for this recipe, not the whole egg. Separate the yolks from the egg whites using an eggshell or using an egg yolk separator.
Step 2. Slowly pour in 1 cup (250 ml) of oil
Beat or use a blender to mix.
- Slowly add the oil so the texture doesn't clump.
-
Pour the oil through the lid of a food grinder or blender. When using a whisk or electric mixer, hold the bowl by placing a cloth or towel under it. Use one hand to pour the oil and the other hand to stir or whisk.
Step 3. Slowly add the remaining 1/2 cup (125 ml) of oil
Stir each time you add the oil before adding the oil again.
-
As before, you need to make sure the oil is thoroughly mixed as you continue to add.
Step 4. Add 2 tbsp (30 ml) of vinegar
Whisk or stir the vinegar until smooth.
-
It's basically simple mayonnaise. Set aside the dough and continue making the sauce.
Step 5. Stir the cornstarch, dry mustard, and vinegar side in another bowl
Mix well.
-
You don't need a food processor, blender, or mixer for this step.
Step 6. Bring 1 cup (250 ml) of water to a boil in a small saucepan
Heat the water over medium-high heat for a few minutes until it boils. Add the cornstarch mixture and cook.
- Stir or beat the dough continuously on the stove.
-
Continue to cook until the mixture is smooth, with a pudding-like consistency. Don't let it get any thicker.
Step 7. Slowly add the hot cornstarch mixture into the mayonnaise mixture
Stir or beat until smooth.
-
You can mix by hand or use a blender, food processor, or mixer.
Step 8. Add paprika and garlic powder
Sprinkle both into the sauce and gently stir with a spoon or spatula until smooth.
Step 9. Store the sauce in an airtight container
Let cool in the refrigerator before use.
-
Store the sauce in the refrigerator when not in use. The sauce will stay fresh for a few days to a week.
Method 2 of 5: Poppy Seed Salad
Step 1. Mix mayonnaise, honey and mustard
In a small or medium bowl, combine the three ingredients and beat rapidly until they are an even color and consistency.
- Make sure the color is even and solid. There should be no yellow or white streaks in the dough.
- These dressings are simple enough to prepare by hand, so you don't need to use a food processor or blender.
Step 2. While stirring slowly add the poppy seeds
Sprinkle poppy seeds over the top of the sauce solution and stir the mixture until well combined.
The poppy seeds should be evenly distributed throughout the solution
Step 3. Add salt and pepper
Sprinkle salt and pepper, adjust to taste, and stir the solution until smooth.
Step 4. Refrigerate until ready to use
You can use the dressing straight away, but if you can make it ahead of time, place the poppy seed salad dressing in an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Store the sauce in the refrigerator when not in use. The sauce will stay fresh for a few days to a week
Method 3 of 5: Red Wine Vinaigrette
Step 1. Mix vinegar, lemon juice, honey, salt and pepper
Add the ingredients to a small bowl or food processor and beat or blend quickly until well blended.
Using a food processor or blender can make it easier to stir the oil later, but sauces can be prepared more easily by hand
Step 2. Gradually add the oil
Slowly pour the oil into the sauce, still beating or blending while the oil is added. Keep stirring until all the oil is added.
- If using a food processor or blender, add the oil through the cap opening as the machine processes the ingredients.
- If mixing by hand, place a towel under the bowl to keep the bowl from shifting as you whisk the ingredients.
Step 3. Allow to cool until ready to use
You can use the dressing straight away, but if you can make it ahead of time, place the poppy seed salad dressing in an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Store the sauce in the refrigerator when not in use. The sauce will stay fresh for a few days to a week
Method 4 of 5: Southwest Salad
Step 1. Whisk the picante sauce, chili powder and cumin
Mix all ingredients in a bowl and beat quickly until smooth.
Because this is a simple salad dressing, there is no need to use a blender or food processor. Even the heat from the machine can melt the sour cream while smoothing, causing the sauce to runny and clump
Step 2. Mix with sour cream
Add sour cream to the mixture and mix until smooth.
You'll know the sour cream is well mixed based on the color of the sauce. Once there are no more red or white streaks, the color is even and solid, meaning the ingredients have been thoroughly mixed
Step 3. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use
You can use the dressing straight away, but if you can make it ahead of time, place the poppy seed salad dressing in an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Store the sauce in the refrigerator when not in use. The sauce will stay fresh for a few days to a week
