One of the most common problems when citing books published electronically is that they do not have page numbers. Nonetheless, the book still needs mention, and there are ways to properly cite electronically published writing like the Kindle eBook.

Method 1 of 3: Using Manual Chicago Style
Step 1. List the required book details
These details include author and publication information: city where the book was published, publisher, and year of publication.
Step 2. Follow the format
- Author's last name, first name, book title. (City: publisher, year), version.
- For example: Doe, John, Sample Book. (New York: University of New York, 1992), Kindle ed.
- If the Kindle book doesn't have page numbers, include the title/chapter number or section.
- Namely: Doe, John, Sample Book. (New York: University of New York, 1992), chapter 8, doc. 3, Kindle edition.

Step 1. List the required book details
These details include author and publication information: city where the book was published, publisher, year of publication, and DOI.
DOI (digital object identifier) is an alphanumeric code assigned to an electronic book on the date the book was published electronically
Step 2. Follow the format
- Author's last name, initials (year). Book title [version] DOI.
- Example: Doe, J. (1992). Sample Book [Kindle Version]. doi:12345/1234567A.
- When citing a book in paragraphs, use the following format: Author last name, year, book chapter, section or document number, paragraph number.
- According to John Doe, (Doe, 1992, chapter 8, document 3, paragraph 2)…

- Author's last name, first name. Book title. City. Publisher, year. Version.

- When mentioning books in paragraphs, put chapters and sections of the e-book in parentheses.
- According to John Doe, this book needs to be properly cited (Doe, chapter 8, doc 3).
