This wikiHow teaches you how to read a message on Snapchat without notifying the sender that the message has been read.

Step 1. Open the Snapchat app
This app is marked by a white ghost icon on a yellow background.
Step 2. Touch the “Chat” icon
It's a small speech bubble icon in the lower-left corner of the screen. After that, the chat page will open.
You can also swipe the screen to the right to open the chat page
Step 3. Touch and hold the conversation you want to read
Step 4. Drag your finger towards the right without releasing it from the screen
After that, the chat will be dragged and displayed on the screen so you can read the message without opening the chat history window (a notification will be sent to the sender of the message if the history is opened).
Step 5. Read the message you received
Keep in mind that you can't swipe up or down on the screen.
Make sure you keep your finger on the screen. If you remove your finger from the screen, a chat window will open and the received message will be marked as read
Step 6. Drag the finger back towards the left
After that, you will return to the chat page.
Step 7. Remove your finger from the screen
Messages you see will still be marked as unread messages.
