You can mark frequently visited places, or places that are not on the general map, on Google Maps with the marker feature. Use public markers to mark places of business or public places, or create personal markers and maps for your own use.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Adding Common Bookmarks
Google Map Maker
Step 1. Go to https://www.google.com/mapmaker and sign in to your Google account
Google Map Maker is only available in certain countries. If you can't use Google Map Maker, read the bottom of this article to add bookmarks via an alternative app or web page. If map markers are not yet available in your country, unfortunately, you will have to manually save the address on a private map. This article will also cover how to create a personal map
Step 2. Add a new place by clicking the Add New button near the top of the page
You will see a warning balloon below this box.
Step 3. Enter the official name of the place in the Enter Name field, then select the appropriate category for the place you want to add (such as Restaurant or University) in the Category field
Step 4. Follow the on-screen prompts to add the address, phone number, and any other information you know about the place
Step 5. When you have finished entering the information, click Save to submit the place to the moderation queue
The editor in your area will check the bookmarks you created. If your marker is rated as accurate, your contribution will be displayed on the official Google Maps website.
Using the Website
Step 1. Go to Google Maps, then open the menu by clicking on the three-line icon in the upper-left corner of the screen
Step 2. Use the feedback feature to add a placemark
On the menu, click Add a missing place.
This feature is not available in all countries
Step 3. Drag the bookmark to the right location, or enter the address in the address bar to move the bookmark automatically
Step 4. Enter any other information you know about the place, such as the place name and phone number
Step 5. Submit the bookmark by clicking Submit
After the editor checks the validity of the bookmark, it can be accessed by anyone via Google Maps.
If you want to add your own place of business to Google Maps, click "Claim this business" to the left of the Submit field
Using the App
Step 1. Open the Google Maps app, then enter the address you want to bookmark
Step 2. Tap the address at the bottom of the app
You will see a submenu.
Step 3. Add a placemark by tapping Add a missing place
Follow the on-screen instructions to add additional information if desired, then submit your bookmarks for review.
Method 2 of 3: Keeping Bookmarks Private
Step 1. Visit the Google Maps site on your computer, or open the Google Maps app on your phone
Step 2. Enter the address in the Google Maps search field, then click the Search icon
You will see a marker on the address.
If Google Maps doesn't recognize the address, drag the marker to find it. Click (or press and hold) the bookmark location until you find the (nearest) location of the place, then click the approximate address that appears on the screen to create a bookmark
Step 3. Click the Save button with a star icon in the left column of the screen to save the bookmark
Bookmarks will be saved, and can be accessed as long as you are signed in with a Google account.
You can also save various special addresses, such as work and home. To save a custom address, go to "Settings > Your Places"
Step 4. Share bookmarks with other users
If you use the Google Maps mobile app, you can easily share your bookmarks. Tap the bookmark you want until the card for the place appears, swipe up on the card, then tap Share.

If you don't have an account yet, click the Sign In button in the upper-right corner of the Google Maps screen, then follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 2. Open the menu in Google Maps by clicking on the three-line icon in the upper-left corner of the screen
Step 3. Find and click on the My Maps option in the second part of the menu

Step 4. Create a blank map by clicking Create new Map at the bottom of the My Maps page
You will see a blank Google Maps map.
Step 5. Add bookmarks on Google Maps
Use the map editing tools available in the row below the search bar. To add a marker, click the pin-shaped button, then click any location on the map. Enter a bookmark name, and customize the appearance of the marker in the pop-up balloon that appears.
- Experiment with other features in Google Maps. For example, to create a road guide, click "Draw a line".
- If you want to create a complex map, click the Add Layer button on the left side of the screen. Think of each column as a place category, such as "restaurant" or "park". Click the layer name to select it, then start adding markers to the layer.
Step 6. After marking the map as needed, give the map a name by clicking Untitled on the left side of the screen
Give the map a descriptive name. Once the map is named, you can find the map by visiting https://google.com/mymaps and clicking Open a Map.
