Google Maps allows users to add contacts, such as names, phone numbers, and email addresses. When a user types a friend's name into the Google Maps search bar, all the addresses of that friend stored in Google Maps will be displayed. You can add contacts to Google Maps via Google Contacts.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Adding Contacts to Google Maps
Step 1. Visit the Google Contacts website
Open a new tab in your browser, then visit the Google Contacts website.
Step 2. Sign in to Google Contacts using your Google account
Google allows all its users to use one account to access all Google products. Enter your Google email address in the first text box, then enter your password in the second text box. After that, click the "Sign in" button located below the two text boxes.
Sometimes you won't be asked to sign in, especially if you're already signed in to another Google product, like Gmail or Google Chrome. If that's the case, you will be immediately taken into Google Contacts
Step 3. Click the "Add New Contact" button
The "Add New Contact" button is in the lower-right corner of the page. The button is represented by a small circle with a plus sign (+) in the middle. A small window will appear at the top of the page, and you will need to enter a name for it.
Step 4. Enter the name of the person/organization you want to add to Google Maps
Enter a name into the text field provided, and when you're done, hit the "Create" button located below. You will be taken to the Edit Contact page.
Step 5. Enter the contact address information
There are several options available to you within the Edit Contact page. You can add a photo, nickname, email address, phone number, address, birthday, and additional notes. You can add all available fields upon request; however, since you will be adding contacts into Google Maps, the most important field to fill here is "Add address".
Click the "Add address" option, then a text box will appear, in which you can type the real address of the person or organization you added to the contact, for example Nairobi, Kenya
Step 6. Click "Save" to save the contact details
When you click the "Save" button, a window will appear, in which the names and addresses of the contacts you have added will be displayed. Close the window to return to the Google Contacts page.
Part 2 of 3: Viewing Contacts on Google Maps
Step 1. Visit the Google Maps website
Open a new tab in your browser and visit the Google Maps website. A Google Maps page will open, where you can see the full map on the device screen.
Step 2. Enter the saved contact name into the search bar
The search bar is in the upper-left corner of the Google Maps home page. Enter the name of the contact you previously added into the search bar, then press Enter on the keyboard. Google Maps will load the contact data for a few moments, then the contact will be displayed on the map, and this indicates that the contact of your choice has been added to Google Maps. Some search results that are close to the words you entered will also be displayed.
Step 3. Look at the contact's location
Scroll through the list that appears, then click on a contact for whom you want to display the address on the map, indicated by a location icon. Google Maps will scale the map up and display the addresses of the contacts you entered on the map. You can zoom in on the map further to see the location in more detail.
If your selected location is viewable using Street View mode, you can check the location this way. Just swipe the Google map to the right (above the map enlarge/reduce button), then release the map at that location. Use the directional buttons and the map zoom in/out slider to move around
Part 3 of 3: Viewing Contacts via Google Maps App (Android and iOS)
Step 1. Launch Google Maps
Go into the phone's app menu, then tap the Google Maps icon to open it. When the application starts, the map screen will be displayed.
If the Google Maps application is not installed on the phone, make sure that you download it first for free through the application store available on the phone
Step 2. Enter the contact name you previously entered into the search box
The search box is at the top of your Google Maps page. As you type a contact's name, a list of suggested contacts will appear as search results.
Step 3. Tap one of the search results to see the address of a person on the map
The address of the person you want to search for will appear in the list of suggested contacts. Tap the right contact from the list, and Google Maps will adjust the screen magnification to that location, indicating the address with a location icon.
