This wikiHow teaches you how to find and join groups on Facebook. You can do this, either through the mobile version of Facebook or the Facebook website.

Method 1 of 2: On Mobile Devices
Step 1. Open Facebook
Tap the Facebook app icon, which looks like a white “f” on a dark blue background. After that, the news feed page will open.
Enter your email address (or phone number) and password before continuing if you're not logged into your account
Step 2. Touch
It's in the lower-right corner of the screen (iPhone) or in the upper-right corner of the screen (Android). A pop-out menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Touch Groups or Group.
It's at the top of the pop-out menu. Once touched, the “Groups” page (“Groups”) will load.
Step 4. Touch the search bar
It's a dark blue bar at the top and is marked with " Search Groups ".
If you want to search for groups you are already in, stay on the “Groups” or “Groups” page. You can see all the groups you belong to or follow on this page
Step 5. Enter the search keywords
Type in a word or phrase that matches the type of group you're looking for. When you type a word or phrase, the search results will be displayed below the search field.
If you're looking for a specific group, type in the group's name
Step 6. Select a group
Touch the name of the group you like or want to view. After that, you can see the cover photo of the group and its uploads if the group is a public group.
- If the group is a closed group, you cannot see the uploads.
- You cannot find a secret group without an invitation from a member of the group concerned.
Step 7. Touch Join Group or Join Group if you want to join.
It's a blue button at the top of the page. After that, a join request will be sent to the group administrator.
If you are accepted into the group, you can visit it by selecting the tab “ Groups ” (“Group”) from the menu “ ☰ ”.
Method 2 of 2: On Desktop Website
Step 1. Open Facebook
Visit The Facebook newsfeed page will load if you are logged in to your account.
If not, type your email address (or phone number) and password into the fields in the upper-right corner of the page
Step 2. Click
It's an arrow icon in the top-right corner of the Facebook page. A drop-down menu will load afterwards.
Step 3. Click Manage Groups or Manage Groups.
It's in the middle of the drop-down menu. After that, tab Discovered ” (“Find”) on the “Groups” (“Groups”) page will load.
Step 4. Browse the suggested group options
All groups on the tab “ Discovered ” (“Discover”) is customized based on your friends' current activity and interests.
- You can click " + Join ” or “+ Join” on the right side of the group to submit a request to join the group.
- If you want to see the groups you are currently in, click the tab “ Groups ” (“Group”) in the top left corner of the page.
Step 5. Search for groups by name
Click the search bar at the top of the Facebook page and type in the group name or keyword, then press Enter.
For example, if you want to search for a group that focuses on healthy eating, you could type the phrase “healthy diet” or “healthy food” into the search bar
Step 6. Click the Groups tab or Group.
It's at the top of the search page, just below the blue Facebook ribbon. After that, Facebook will only show groups that match the search keyword.
Step 7. Select a group
Click the name of the group you find interesting. The group page will open and you can see the uploads if the group is a public group.
- If the group is a closed group, you won't be able to see the posts in it.
- You cannot find a secret group without an invitation from a member of the group concerned.
Step 8. Click + Join Group or + Join Groups.
This button is below the group profile photo. A join request will be sent to the group administrator.
