This wikiHow teaches you how to leave a WhatsApp group. By doing so, you will not be able to receive or send messages in the group. You can exit group chats on all versions of WhatsApp, such as on Android, iPhone, and desktop computers.

Method 1 of 3: On iPhone
Step 1. Launch WhatsApp
Tap the WhatsApp icon which looks like a white phone inside a green conversation bubble. If you have set up WhatsApp, the last items you opened will be displayed.
If not, set up WhatsApp first before continuing
Step 2. Tap the Chats tab
It's a conversation bubble-shaped icon at the bottom of the screen.
If WhatsApp immediately opens another conversation, first tap the "Back" button in the top left corner
Step 3. Select a chat
Tap the conversation you want to leave. The group conversation will open.
Step 4. Tap on the group name which is on the top left of the screen
The group conversation settings page will open.
Step 5. Scroll down the screen, then tap Exit Group
It's a red text icon at the bottom of the page.
Step 6. Tap on Exit Group when prompted
The decision will be confirmed and you will be removed from the group.
Page Chats may not be deleted even if you leave the group. If this is the case, swipe the screen from right to left on the conversation on the page Chats, then tap More, and delete the group by double-tapping Delete Group.
Method 2 of 3: On Android
Step 1. Launch WhatsApp
Tap the WhatsApp icon which looks like a white phone inside a green conversation bubble. If you have set up WhatsApp, the last items you opened will be displayed.
If not, set up WhatsApp first before continuing
Step 2. Tap the CHATS tab at the top of the screen
A list of current conversations will be displayed.
If WhatsApp immediately opens another conversation, first tap the "Back" button in the upper left corner to close it
Step 3. Tap and hold the group you want to leave
A second or two later, a checkmark will appear next to the group.
Once the check mark appears, you can also select the other group or chat you want to leave by tapping on it
Step 4. Tap which is located in the top right corner
A drop-down menu will be displayed.
Step 5. Tap Exit group
It's at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
If you select multiple groups, the text in the option will be Exit groups.
Step 6. Tap EXIT when prompted
By doing this, you will exit the selected group.
Page CHATS may not be deleted even if you leave the group. If this happens, tap and hold the group on the tab CHATS to select it, tap the trash can icon at the top of the screen, then tap DELETE when prompted to delete a group.
Method 3 of 3: On Desktop or Web Edition
Step 1. Run WhatsApp on the computer
The computer version of the WhatsApp application icon is located at Start
(Windows) or in the Applications folder (Mac).
This method can also be applied to the web edition of WhatsApp, although you must first sign in to WhatsApp web
Step 2. Select the desired group
On the left side of the page, click the group you want to leave.
Step 3. Click which is located in the upper right corner of the conversation window
A drop-down menu will be displayed.
Make sure you click this icon in the group conversation window, not in the conversation list on the left side of the page
Step 4. Click Exit group
It's at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
Step 5. Click EXIT when prompted
The decision will be confirmed and you will be removed from the group.
