Fish is a great source of healthy protein and omega 3 fatty acids that are healthy, cook quickly, and don't require much preparation. If you tend to avoid eating fish with a sharp taste, there are several types of dishes, one of which is tilapia, which is soft and not fishy. Tilapia, also known as St. Peter's fish, is a white fish, low in fat and has a soft texture. You can grill, boil, steam, grill, or even make ceviche tilapia from this fish without having to cook it. If you want to know how to make ceviche in several ways, follow these steps.

Method 1 of 4: Roasted Tilapia
Step 1. Gather your ingredients
Here's what you'll need to make baked tilapia:
- 4 tilapia fillets
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- juice from 1 fresh lemon
- 2 cloves of minced garlic
- Sea salt for flavor
- Black pepper for flavor
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
Step 2. Preheat your oven to 190ºC
Step 3. Spray a 13 x 19 inch glass baking pan with non-stick cooking spray
Or, you can brush a baking sheet with a little olive oil.
Step 4. Rinse the tilapia fillets with cold water
Pat the fish dry with several layers of tissue paper.
Step 5. Place the fillets on the grill pan
Step 6. Combine melted butter and olive oil in a small bowl
Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a microwave-safe covered baking dish for 30 seconds and mix with 1 tablespoon olive oil until smooth.
Step 7. Spread the butter mixture over the surface of the tilapia fillets
Sprinkle the juice of 1 fresh lemon on it.
Step 8. Sprinkle the fillets with minced garlic, sea salt and pepper
Sprinkle the fillets with 2 cloves of minced garlic, sea salt and pepper for flavour.
Step 9. Bake the fish for 20 - 25 minutes
Bake the tilapia until it is white and cloudy and the flesh splits when pressed with a fork. Then remove the fish from the oven.
Step 10. Serve
Sprinkle the tilapia with 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges as a garnish. Enjoy this delicious dish while it's warm.
Method 2 of 4: Fried Tilapia
Step 1. Gather the materials you will need
Here are the ingredients you need to make fried tilapia:
- 120 grams of tilapia fish fillet
- Salt for taste
- Pepper for flavor
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
Step 2. Rinse the tilapia fillets with cold water
Pat dry with tissue paper after cleaning.
Step 3. Season both sides of the fillet with salt and pepper to taste
Step 4. Place 1/2 cup all-purpose flour in a shallow pan
Step 5. Press each fillet into the flour to coat it, then shake it to remove any excess flour
Step 6. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat
Step 7. Cook the tilapia in hot oil until the fish is easy to cut
Usually the time it takes to cook each side of tilapia is 4 minutes.
Step 8. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter
' You can melt the butter while you cook the tilapia. To do this, place the butter in a microwave-safe covered baking sheet and place it in the microwave for at least 30 seconds, or until it's completely melted.
Step 9. Spread melted butter over the tilapia just before you remove it from the pan
Step 10. Serve
Squeeze 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice over the tilapia and enjoy while hot. You can enjoy this fish without side dishes, or with a variety of fresh vegetables, potatoes or other side dishes.
Method 3 of 4: Grilled Tilapia
Step 1. Gather the materials you will need
Here are the ingredients you'll need to make grilled tilapia:
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup soft butter
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon celery salt
- 1 kg tilapia fish fillet
Step 2. Preheat your oven
Step 3. Grease a baking sheet with oil
You can also cover it with aluminum foil instead.
Step 4. Combine parmesan cheese, butter, mayonnaise, and lemon juice in a small bowl
Combine 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, 1/4 cup softened butter, 3 tablespoons mayonnaise, and 2 tablespoons lemon juice. Mix all these ingredients until smooth and creamy.
Step 5. Season the parmesan mixture with the dried basil, garlic powder and celery salt
Season the mixture with 1/4 teaspoon dried basil, 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper, 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1/8 teaspoon celery salt. Mix all the spices evenly in the parmesan mixture, then set aside.
Step 6. Place the tilapia fillets in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet
Place 1 kg of tilapia fillet on the prepared baking sheet so that it covers the entire surface and does not overlap.
Step 7. Grill the tilapia fillets
First, grill the fish a few inches from the heat source for 2-3 minutes. Then flip and bake for 2-3 minutes. When done, remove the tilapia from the oven.
Step 8. Brush the surface of the tilapia fillets with the parmesan cheese mixture on top
Use a spoon to layer this mixture over the tilapia.
Step 9. Re-bake the fillets for another two minutes
Bake until the parmesan mixture turns brown and the fish is easy to cut with a fork. Be careful not to overcook the fish by scorching it or making the mixture texture tough.
Step 10. Serve
Enjoy this grilled tilapia while it's warm. You can serve it without side dishes or with rice, asparagus or some other type of side dish.
Method 4 of 4: Ceviche Tilapia
Step 1. Gather the materials you will need
Here are the ingredients you'll need to make ceviche tilapia:
- 8 tilapia fillets
- 15 lime juice
- 1 large tomato finely chopped
- 1/4 clove of chopped red onion
- 2 chopped cucumbers
- 1/2 bunch chopped cilantro
- Salt for taste
- Pepper for flavor
Step 2. Chop the raw tilapia into small pieces
Cut the tilapia into about 1 inch (2.5 cm) pieces and place them in a large bowl.
Step 3. Brush the fish with lime juice
Squeeze 15 limes and rub the fish with the juice until smooth. You don't need to use all of the lime juice as long as the entire surface of the tilapia in the bowl is evenly coated.
Step 4. Combine tomatoes, red onions and cucumbers in a bowl
Place 1 large finely chopped tomato, 1/4 of a chopped red onion, and 2 cucumbers that have been peeled, seeded and chopped in a bowl along with the tilapa pieces until smooth. Don't stir the ingredients too vigorously as the tilapia pieces can become runny - just stir until all the ingredients are well combined.
Step 5. Add coriander leaves, salt and pepper
Add 1/2 bunch of finely chopped coriander leaves, salt and pepper to taste.
Step 6. Place the ceviche in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour
This is enough time to marinate the fish in the lime juice and seasonings. You can leave the fish in the refrigerator for even longer times - up to several hours or even overnight.
Step 7. Serve
Taste the ceviche before serving and add more salt and pepper if necessary. Place the ceviche tilapia in a glass bowl or martini glass and enjoy it cold and delicious.
