You don't have to have a stone oven to make pizza, white bread, or heath bread. All you have to do is prepare a baking stone, or a pizza stone to make crunchy and delicious stone oven pizza. The pizza stone absorbs the oven heat and spreads it evenly over the bread to create a crispy pizza crust. This tool prevents the center of the pizza from getting wet while baking in the oven.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Making the Dough
Step 1. Gather the ingredients
This step can be skipped if you use a store-bought ready-to-cook dough. However, if you want to make a typical restaurant pizza, there are ingredients that must be prepared. The recipe below is for making two pizzas. If you're only making one pizza, divide the dough in half and keep one in the freezer and one in the fridge.
- 1 tsp. active dry wheat.
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1 cup cold water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 cups breadcrumbs
- 3 tsp extra virgin olive oil.
Step 2. Sprinkle the oats over the warm water in a large bowl
Leave it for 5-8 minutes. The wheat will bubble, or proof, which tests the effectiveness of the wheat.
Step 3. Stir in salt and cold water
When the mixture has been allowed to rest, stir the salt into the cold water. Then, continue with the flour. Pour in the flour every one cup until the mixture is firm enough to scoop out of the bowl.
Step 4. Knead the dough
Coat your worktop with flour, then knead the dough over it until smooth. Usually, this process takes 10-15 minutes. When the desired softness is achieved, divide the dough into two evenly and make each into a ball. Coat each ball with olive oil with a brush evenly.
Step 5. Let the dough rise
Place the dough in a sealed container with enough room for the dough to rise. Do not fill more than half the volume of the container. Let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 16 hours and take it out an hour before using it.
Part 2 of 3: Sprinkling and Cooking Pizza
Step 1. Preheat your oven
Place the pizza stone on the bottom rack of the oven and heat it to 250 degrees Celsius.
Step 2. Coat the dough with flour
Sprinkle a little flour onto the dough, and gradually spread it out on a flat, floured surface until it's about the size of a pizza stone.
A cutting board, cookie sheet, or peel can be used as your workplace. A peeler is a flat, wide tool for your pizza. The front edge of the utensil is usually tapered so that the pizza can be put in and out easily
Step 3. Sprinkle your pizza
When the dough has spread to the desired size, spread the sauce and add the cheese. Sprinkle the dough with vegetables, meat, and seasonings to taste.
Step 4. Place the pizza in the oven
It will be easier if you have sprinkled the flour in a flat container. Place the flat edge of your dish on the back of the preheated pizza stone and slide it out of the oven so that your pizza is on top of the pizza stone. If the dough is a bit sticky, shake it back and forth so that the dough can come off.
Step 5. Bake your pizza
Your pizza only needs to bake for 4-6 minutes in the oven. Monitor closely and take when the crust is browned. Pick up the pizza by tucking the container back flat under your pizza.
Step 6. Cut your pizza and enjoy
Be careful, your pizza is very hot. Let it cool for a few minutes before cutting so you don't burn. Congratulations, you've made a rock oven-style crispy pizza.
Part 3 of 3: Caring for the Pizza Stone
Step 1. Let the pizza stone cool
Turn off the oven after cooking the pizza. Allow the pizza stone to cool completely before taking it out. The time can be hours, so the pizza stone can be washed the next morning.
Step 2. Use a soft brush, soap and water
Place the cooled stone in the sink and clean it like any other cutlery. Brush off any melted food residue on the surface of the pizza stone. Do not leave it wet for too long as the surface is porous and will absorb water. Otherwise, the pizza stone will crack in the next use.
Step 3. Dry your pizza stone
Use a rag to dry the pizza stone and place it on a rack to dry completely. It's okay there are still a few stains left. As long as you clean up all the food, your pizza stone can be reused over and over again.
